QRD Weekly Report – Sunday October 23, 2016


Topper's Pizza- Novice
The Topper's Pizza Novice Red Devils hosted the Peterborough Petes on Wednesday in Cobourg. The Devils battled to a 1-1 tie versus a strong Petes team. The Devils played a good defensive game and Quinn Donovan got the tie in goal. Ryland Cunningham scored the lone goal, assisted by Jack Foley and Kolby Craig.

On Sunday The Devils traveled to Pickering for a game versus the Ajax/ Pickering Raiders. The Devils played a strong defensive game and won 4-2, with Nowl Wallace getting the win between the pipes. Ryland Cunningham, Brendan Reid, Kaden Koutroulides and Jack Foley scored for the Devils. Connor Fetterley, Ryland Cunningham, Kolby Craig, Tavin MacDonald and Owen Rivers picked up assists for the Devils.

On Deck: The Topper's Pizza Novice Red Devils travel to Oshawa Friday night versus the Generals; before hosting the Clarington Toros on Saturday and the Markham Waxers on Sunday.

KKP - Minor Atom
The KKP Minor atoms split a pair of games this past week. On Wednesday the Devils travelled down Hwy 401 to meet arch rival Kingston and left the Limestone City with a 4-2 win. Deke Osterhout (2), Avery Wease and Carter Chadwick scored for Quinte while Lennox Stewart picked up the win in goal.

On Saturday the Devils faced the defending OMHA champions in Clarington and came up short, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Toros. Liam Boyer was strong in goal despite taking the loss.

On Deck: The KKP minor atom Devils return to action next Saturday in Ajax before hosting Barrie Sunday in Stirling.

Madison Excavating - Major Atom
The Madison Excavating Major Atoms were at home this weekend to host the Barrie Colts on Saturday in Marmora. The Devils came to do battle with the Colts. With both teams being evenly matched, they went toe to toe on scoring opportunities throughout both the first and second period. It was not until the third period that either team hit the scoreboard. It was Barrie who scored first less then a minute into the third. Quinte was quick to respond and tied the game less than 2 minutes later on a goal from Thomas Kuipers, assisted by Ty Therrien. Dean Spry protected the cage for the Devils as Barrie continued to pour on the offense.  It was an awkward shot that gave Barrie the go ahead goal to make it 2-1 in the opponents favourlater in the third. Despite an extra attacker in the last few minutes of the game the Devils were not able to regain the tie. An empty net goal made it a 3-1 loss for the Devils.

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Major Atoms will head north this upcoming weekend to redeem themselves in Barrie verses the Colts on Saturday.  On Sunday, they will travel to Rama for their first game verses the North Central Predators.

Bonn Law - Minor Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Minor Peewee Team recorded a win in their only game of the weekend. On Sunday the Devils were in Napanee where they would host the Oshawa Minor Generals. It was the generals who scored first and were up 1-0 after the first period. The second period would solve nothing as teams exchanged goals and were tied 3-3 at the end of the period. The two teams exchanged goals once again in the third, but it was the Devils who scored last to win the game by a score of 7-6 with just 51 seconds left on the clock. Ethan Quick had his best game of the year for the Devils, scoring a hat trick, including a goal in a penalty shot. Also lighting the lamp for the Devils was Vince Bellavance, Jack Dever, Ethan Miedema and Cal Uens with the game winner. Chipping in with assists was Michael Dolton, Benjamin Lynch, Duncan Schneider, Joshua Cunningham, Christopher Brydges, Quick, Dever, Bellavance and Uens. Logan Vale was in net for the Red Devils.

On Deck:
The boys will host The Petes in Marmora on Thursday at 7:30pm, and have games with the North Central Predators at the Cobourg CC Bowl at 1:30 on Saturday Oct 29 and  a rad game with the Richmond Hill Coyotes on Sunday Oct 30.

Foley Bus Lines - Peewee
The Foley Bus Lines Red Devils played two road games and one at home this past weekend, and gain 5 of 6 possible points in ETA action.

On Friday Oct 22, The Foley Bus Liners travelled to Clarington to take on the Toros.  The Devils struck first in the opening frame as Isaac Brown scored from Trevor Hoskin to take a 1 to 0 lead.  Trevor Hoskin and Liam Filip added two more goals in the 2nd period on feeds from Donovan McCoy and Dalyn Wakely to make it a 3 to 0 game.  The Toro’s added one of their own in the third period, but the Devils also continued to score with two more as Connor Hunt and Donovan McCoy added two more to make it a 5 to 1 final score.  Andrew Munro was on duty in the Devil’s cage.

On Saturday Oct 23, the Foley Bus Lines Peewees were on the road again to play the always tough Whitby Wildcats.  The first two periods were scoreless in end to end action.  The Devils were first to get on the board on a goal from Connor Hunt.  Assisting on the Hunt goal were; Liam Filip and Donovan McCoy.  Whitby would tie the game moments later and go ahead by one, with two quick goals.  In the dying seconds, Donovan McCoy would even the game on a point shot with just 2 seconds left.  Final score was 2 to 2.  Corbin Votary backstopped for the Devils in this even match.

On Sunday Oct 24, the Foley Bus Lines Peewee Red Devils hosted the Barrie Colts in Madoc.  The Colts would score the first two goals and end the first period with a 2 to 0 lead.  The Devils would even the game in the second period with goals from Rheydan McCoy and Trevor Hoskin.  Dalyn Wakely and Corbin Roach provided the helpers.  The third period was all Devils as Connor Hunt and Liam Filip would add two more goals. Filip assisted on the Hunt goal.  Andrew Munro was in net for the Devils in the 4 to 2 win.

On Deck: Next action for the Devils is Wednesday night against the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs.  Puck drop is 7pm at the Invista Centre.

Vanderlaan Building Products - Minor Bantam
The Vanderlaan Minor Bantams were on the road Sunday October, 16th to take on the Markham Waxers. The Devils opened the scoring at the end  of the first period with a goal from Ben White assisted by Nathanial Burelle and Gavin Camp.  Markham answered back in the second making it a 1-1 game.  Early in the third Ben White scored with the assist going to Nathanial Burelle. In an attempt to battle back Markham pulled their goalie for the extra man but Blake Maracle would put one in the empty net to secure the win. Dixon Grimes was strong in net for the win. Ethan Broek was awarded player of the game.



 

On Saturday October, 23 the Devils hosted the Central Ontario Wolves. While the Devil's kept the Wolves off the score board in the first period, the Wolves scored 2 unanswered goals in the second and third periods. Wolves shut out the Devils 4-0. Ethan Fraser was solid in net despite the loss.  

 

On Deck: The minor bantams host Markham Waxers at 2:15 on Saturday Oct 29 at the QSWC.


Rhino Sports - Minor Midgets
The Minor Midgets hosted the Clarington Toros on Wednesday at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Center and came to play as they opened the scoring within the first two minutes. The Devils would skate away with a 6-0 victory and set up a Sunday re-match in Clarington with Oshawa squeezed in the middle of the home & home with Clarington. The Red Devil goals were score by Daniel Panetta(2), Michael Andrews, Logan White, Cameron Supryka and Graham Dickerson while assists went to Graham Dickerson(3), Michael Andrews(2), Logan White, Daniel Panetta, Bailey Matthews, Nolan Seto, Cameron Supryka.

The Red Devil Minor Midgets played host to the Oshawa Minor Generals on Saturday. The Red Devil goals were scored by Graham Dickerson, Dalton Bancroft, Logan White, Emmet Pierce and Michael Andrews with assists going to Emmet Pierce, Daniel Panetta(2), Graham Dickerson and Jake Campbell(2).

The Quinte Red Devils travelled to Clarington on Sunday and beat the Toros 5-1. Brennan Bush would earn his 5th win of the young season. Quinte goals were scored by Cameron Supryka, Michael Andrews(2), Zach Uens and Graham Dickerson while assists went to Daniel Panetta(2), Derrick Vos, Bailey Matthews, Michael Andrews, Carden Guerin, Cameron Supryka and Dalton Bancroft.

 

On Deck: Thursday Oct 27 vs Whitby at 8:15 at QSWC, and Saturday Oct 29 at 5:45 vs Barrie at QSWC.
