Bonn Law - Minor Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Minor Peewee Team had a great showing this weekend winning six straight games on their way to being crowned Limestone City Cup Champions. The Devils started out the tournament on Friday with wins against The Kingston Jr. Frontenacs (4-3) and The Cumberland Grads (5-2). On Saturday, the boys continued their strong team play, defeating The Brampton 45’s (6-3) and The Gloucester Rangers (7-2). The Red Devils secured a first place finish after round robin play and were set to face the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs again on Sunday morning, where they skated to a 3-0 win, earning the team a spot in the championship game vs The Seaway Valley Rapids. The Red Devils were looking forward to the matchup vs the talented Rapids team, and continued to play their “A Game” on way to a 4-1 victory and the tournament championship title.
The Coaching staff could not be more pleased with the work ethic and extremely strong team play that the boys brought to every game this weekend. The team first mentality has really started to pay off for the boys, and they played their best hockey of the season so far. All 15 skaters were huge contributors in the tournament championship. Aidan Crowley and Logan Vale were outstanding between the pipes all weekend long for their team.
On Deck: The Red Devils are looking forward to jumping back in to league play when they take on the Central Ontario Wolves in Cobourg on Wednesday evening.

Madison Excavating - Major Atom
In their final tournament of the year, the Madison Excavating Major Atoms travelled to Buffalo to participate in The Cup North American Championship this past weekend. Round robin play began on Friday morning as the Devils faced the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers. Quinte struck first with a goal from Ben Danford, assisted by Braedyn Rogers. Both teams were held off the scoreboard throughout the second but the Devils took advantage of the power play to add to their points. Danford scored unassisted followed by a goal from Landon Wright on the set up from Kirk Stevenson. Liam Philip would add one more, assisted by Thomas Kuipers to give the Devils a strong 4-0 victory. Dean Spry stood tall in the net to record the shut out.
The second game Friday saw the Devils take on the Chatham Kent Cyclones. The first period had both teams back and forth matching offensive opportunities and defensive play but neither were able to hit the scoreboard. It was a goal from Wright on the assist from Stevenson that gave Quinte a 1-0 lead in the second. Brody Partridge, assisted by Kuipers and Philip found the back of the Cyclones net later in the third to give the Devils 2-0 final win. Glen McInnes protected the cage for the Devils and recorded the team's second shutout.
Saturday's game had the Devils go head to head with the Mid Fairfield Jr. Rangers. The Devils wasted no time netting the first goal of the game from Partridge, assisted by Wright. Stevenson would add another before the end of the first, assisted by Ben Vreugdenhil to make it 2-0 Devils going into the second. Kuipers would make it 3-0 on the set up from Deacon Ellis and Carson Campbell. With only 4 seconds left on the clock the Rangers would score the first goal of the tournament against the Devils. Spry was solid in the net and kept the third period scoreless as the Devils took the win 3-1.
Hoping to continue their winning streak in the final game of round robin play, Quinte faced the Markham Majors. The game was a physical back and forth game but again it was the Devils striking first before the end of the first period with a power play goal from Jaren Langdon on the set up from Campbell. Kuipers would take advantage of the power play, and score unassisted in the second. Stevenson would add one more to make it 3-0 with mere seconds left in the second, assisted by Danford and Wright. The Majors continued to battle and while they snuck one past the strong Quinte net minder, it was their only goal against McInnes. The Devils sealed their undefeated round robin play and took the second place in the overall ranking of the 2006 division of 40 teams.
The quarter finals Sunday morning had the Devils head to head with the Vaughan Kings. The game was filled with back and forth action with both teams matching speed and skill. The Devils worked hard generating offensive opportunities and keeping the Kings scoreless. All three periods would go on with neither team hitting the back of the net or seeing the penalty box. The tie 0-0 at the end of the third would force a 3 on 3, 5 minute overtime. A bad bounce would see the Kings sneak the win to move on to the semis. Spry was outstanding in net and made some key saves throughout the game to keep it scoreless.
On Deck:,. The Madison Excavating Major Atoms will get back into league play as they host the Clarington Toros at 7pm on Wednesday and the Central Ontario Wolves at 3pm on Saturday. Both games are scheduled at the Marmora arena.
The Pond at Rhino Sports and Playland - Minor Midget
The winning streak is now at 11 ! The Pond at Rhino Sports and Playland Minor Midgets head into the Tournament of Champions in Peterborough next weekend on a roll with 11 wins in a row. Even as good as this team has been all year it still might not equate to a first place finish in the East Division of the ETA as Whitby may still finish ahead of your Red Devils.
The Minor Midgets went into Kingston on Thursday and played well enough to win but did not play as well as they could have. Ethan Taylor was in net to record the victory while recording his first ETA regular season shutout of the season as he managed to keep Kingston’s best players off the score-sheet. Goals were scored by Cameron Supryka, Logan White, Connor Kennedy and Bailey Matthews as assists went to Daniel Panetta, Keegan Hunt, Emmet Pierce(2), Logan White and Graham Dickerson.
On Saturday your Quinte Red Devils hosted the Markham Waxers and won the game 5-1. Ethan Taylor was in net for the victory and played extremely well keeping his team in the game early on until they found their legs and their scoring touch. Goals were scored by Matthew Cawker, Michael Andrews(2), Logan White and Dalton Bancroft as assists went to Bailey Matthews, Daniel Panetta, Dalton Bancroft(2), Logan White and Zach Uens.
The Richmond Hill Coyotes were next up in the schedule as the Minor Midget Red Devils travelled to Elgin Barrow arena to face a team with 3 wins in 29 games. This didn’t stop the Coyotes’ from giving the Devils a great game early on as Brennan Bush needed to be amazing again in order to keep his team in the game. The Red Devils would skate to a 5-0 shutout as Brennan Bush would record his third ETA shutout of the season and the second against the very same Coyotes. Goals were scored by Jake Campbell, Michael Andrews(2), Emmet Pierce and Daniel Panetta while assists went to Keegan Hunt(2), Daniel Panetta, Dalton Bancroft(2), Carden Guerin, Michael Andrews and Emmet Pierce.
Vanderlaan Building Products - Minor Bantam
The Vanderlaan Building Products Minor Bantams had one game this past week, traveling to Central Ontario to take on the Wolves. The Devils opened the scoring part way through the first with a goal by Ethan Broek, assisting was Aiden Treverton and Daniel Michaud. The Wolves owned the second period by taking the lead 2-1. Late in the third Quinte managed to tie it up with a goal from Daniel Michaud, assisted by Zack Brooks and Gavin Camp. With minutes remaining Nathanial Burelle found the back of the net for the winning goal. Assisting was Clayton Farrow and Conner Brooks. Ethan Fraser was in net for the win. Ethan Broek was awarded player of the game.
On Jan. 13 the team traveled to Buffalo to participate in the Buffalo Cup Tournament. The Devils would have difficulty the first day of the tournament losing 4-1 to the Buffalo Regals and 5-0 to the Rochester Monarchs. On Saturday Quinte turned things around beating Esmark Stars 2-0 and the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs 5-4. Unfortunately it was not enough for them move on the quarter finals.
Foley Bus Lines - Peewee
It was a roller coaster ride at “The Cup – North American Championships” tournament! The Foley Bus Lines Peewee Red Devils travelled to Buffalo this past weekend to attend “The Cup – North American Championships”. The team provided a roller coaster ride of ups and downs; yet in the end, the Devils returned home with their heads held high with a great performance against the #1 ranked Toronto Junior Canadians.
In Game 1 on Friday Jan 13, the Devils faced the highly ranked Mid Fairfield Jr. Rangers. It was all Rangers in this game as the Rangers came out strong and didn’t let up. The Rangers made their statement after falling to the Devils last year. The final score was 10 to 0 for the Rangers in the opening game of the tournament. Corbin Votary and Andrew Munro both saw rubber in this game and shared the loss. After losing the first game in such a competitive tournament, the Devils would need to win the remaining games for any hope in making it to the playoffs on Sunday.
In game 2 on Friday Jan 13 the Devils took on the Oakland Jr Grizzlies. Oakland scored first, but the Devils answered with a goal from Cooper Matthews to end the opening frame in a 1 to 1 tie. Liam Filip and Connor Hunt assisted on the Matthews goal. Oakland would be the first to score again in the 2nd period, but Matthews would answer again on feeds from Blake Ellis and Liam Filip to keep the game tied going into the 3rd. It would be Corbin Roach that would score the only and winning goal in the third period to end the game in favour of the Devils 3 to 2. Trevor Hoskin assisted on the Roach goal as Andrew stood tall on duty in the Devils cage.
In Game 3 on Saturday Jan 14, the Devils faced the top team from the SCTA, the Southern Tier Admirals. The Devils opened the game by taking a two-goal lead in the first period on goals from Trevor Hoskin and Dalyn Wakely. Liam Filip and Cooper Matthews provided the first period assists. The second period saw both teams score as the Devils maintained their lead going into the third period. Cooper Matthews found the back of the Admirals net, assisted by Donovan McCoy. Dalyn Wakely scored twice in the 3rd to seal the win on feeds from Conner Hunt and Donovan McCoy. Final score was 5 to 2 as Corbin Votary had a good performance in the Devils cage.
Game 4 on Saturday Jan 14 saw the Devils face the tough Rochester Monarchs. The Devils came out flying as Dalyn Wakely scored just over one minute into the game on feeds from Connor Hunt and Cooper Matthews. Just 24 seconds later, Trevor Hoskin found the back of the Monarchs net on a breakaway. The Monarch’s proved to be persistent as they scored twice to end the first period in a 2 to 2 tie. Liam Filip would break the tie in the second by lighting the lamp for the Devils as Dalyn Wakely and Corbin Roach provided the assists. Isaac Brown scored half way through the third period to score the Devils 4th goal on way to a 4 to 2 win over the Monarchs. Rheydan McCoy and Kendrick Webster assisted on the Brown goal. Andrew Munro persevered and kept the Devils in the game with a great performance.
The 3 and 1 record in the round robin, proved to be enough to get the Devils a “wild card” spot in the quarterfinals, but they would face the #1 Ranked Toronto Jr Canadiens.
In the Quarterfinal Game against the Jr. Canadians, the Devils came out strong and drew first blood as Dalyn Wakely found the back of the Canadiens net on assists from Cooper Matthews and Corbin Roach. The Devils had a 1 to 0 lead until late in the 2nd when the Canadiens made it a 1 to 1 tie going into the 3rd period. The Canadiens scored with only 3 min left in the game to take the lead and added an empty net goal to take the win over the Devils by a score of 3 to 1. Corbin Votary had a solid performance in the Devils cage.
On Deck: The Devils returned home on a positive note with good performances by all and prepare to return to ETA action this week as they take on the Central Ontario Wolves on Jan 22 at the Madoc Community Centre with a puck drop at 1pm.
KKP - Minor Atom
It was a disappointing weekend for the KKP minor atoms as they dropped a pair of home games to East division rivals. On Saturday in Belleville, Deke Osterhout was the lone scorer in a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Clarington. Liam Boyer was solid in goal despite taking the loss. On Sunday in Deseronto, the Devils came out flat and found themselves on the wrong end of an 8-1 drubbing against Whitby. Avery Wease scored Quinte's only goal while Liam Boyer and call-up Travis Reid split the goaltending chores.
On Deck: The KKP Devils will look to get back on track on Wednesday in Belleville when they play host to Kingston.
