Welcome Back! Here is the first weekly report of the season...
The Jason’s Moving U18 Red Devils remain undefeated in their two exhibition games against the Peterborough Jr Petes. On September 15th, the team secured a 3-0 win in Peterborough, with goalie Jakeson Bowlby earning his first shutout of the season. Goals were scored by Noah Lesser, Tavin MacDonald, and Kaden Koutroulides, with assists from Koutroulides, Hunter Gulliver, Walker Doyle, and Ryland Harvey.
On September 21st, the Red Devils won again, this time at home, with a 5-3 victory. Jamie Bales tended the net, while Jacob Moore netted two goals. Theo Lavendar, Walker Doyle, and Owen Rivers also found the back of the net. Assists came from Gulliver, Alek Asimis (2), Doyle, Harvey, Griffen Bird, Jack Short, Lavendar, Liam Grant, and Wyatt Albright in a solid team effort.
Coming up next, the team will compete in the Toronto Titans Prospect Tournament beginning this Thursday, Sept 26th.
The U16 AAA Red Devils, were the 2024 U15 OMHA Champions and are looking forward to a big season.

The Gillespie's Tree Service U15 Red Devils squad travelled to the Toronto Jr. Red Wings Early Bird Tournament this weekend to test themselves against some of the best competition the province has to offer. Game 1 saw the team take on the Rangers of North York. The team found their footing early with Coen Lowry converting a chance off a Lawson Minifie rebound on the first shift of the game. Lauchlan Whelan added the 2nd marker from Andrew Laurin and Brechen Aird with Laurin potting the 3rd goal from Whelan to take a 3-1 lead into the 2nd period. Laurin added one more goal in each of the 2nd and 3rd periods with assists going to Cohen Stewart on his 2nd and Whelan and Aird on his 3rd to seal a 5-2 win in game 1. Rory Young picked up the victory in net. Game 2 saw a physical affair with the team lining up to take on the Mississauga Rebels. The first period ended in a scoreless draw despite some quality opportunities at both ends of the ice. Ewan Dahle got the scoring started in the second period off a nice feed from Lawson Minifie. Andrew Laurin netted the eventual game winner in the 3rd batting in a loose rebound off an Austin Preston shot. Mississauga also got on the board in the 3rd, but Nathan Ferriss stood tall in net over the final minutes to help preserve a 2-1 win. Game 3 on Saturday afternoon saw the team take on a spirited side in the Windsor Spitfires. The close contest was scoreless through the first frame but Austin Preston, scoring his first AAA goal, got QRD on the board in the second with assists going to Spencer Harold and Andrew Laurin. The boys carried that lead into the 3rd before Windsor scored the equalizer. Preston stayed hot and potted his second of the game from Laurin and Andrew Dewar. This would prove to be the game winner and Rory Young took home his second victory of the weekend. The final game of round robin play saw the squad playing the vaunted Toronto Jr Canadiens. After a scoreless battle in the first period the Canadiens exploded for 3 goals in the 2nd frame. QRD got one back in the 3rd off the stick of Jax Martin after a nice pass from John Korver. It was not to be for the boys as they dropped their only contest of the tournament 4-1 and narrowly missed out on some Sunday hockey finishing 13th out of 42 teams but finding some consolation in being the top side from the OMHA Eastern division. A nice dressing room visit from one of QRD's recent success stories Ben Danford helped ease the pain as well!
The team is looking forward to a solid week of practice before hosting their final Exhibition tune up Sunday Sept 29 at home against the newly formed North Shore Storm. Puck drop is 1:30 on the CAA pad!
The Bonn Law QRD U14 AAA team traveled to Detroit this weekend, along with 13 other top teams from North America, to play in the Little Caesar’s Challenger Series.
On Thursday, The Red Devils faced the high powered Pens Elite team in their first game of the tournament. The Devils opened up the scoring early in the first period with a goal from Kyler Patterson, assisted by James Gullage and Brody Grant. The Pens struck back a minute later and the teams exchanged goals in the first two periods, before The Pens opened it up in the 3rd scoring 4 unanswered goals on their way to a 8-3 win. Also scoring for the Red Devils; Miller Nicholson and James Gullage. Chipping in with assists was Austin Simpson and Noah Hughes.
On Friday morning, The Devils would face The Chicago Mission. Once again, The Devils opened up the scoring early in the game on a goal from Mason Whalen, but could not find the back of the net again in the game, and fell to the Mission by a score of 6-1.
In their second game of the day, 12 hours later, the Red Devils would face a very talented Midfairfield Team. In a fast paced, back and forth game that had fans on the edge of their seats, it was MF who skated away with the 3-2 win. Matt Travers had a strong game in net for the Devils. Brody Grant and Austin Pettey did the scoring for their team, while Pettey and Tyler Martin chipped in with assists.
On Saturday, The Red Devils would start the day against The Chicago Reapers. Once again, the game was fast paced and physical. Austin Pettey scored in the first period of the game to even the score at one, before the Rangers added two more goals, taking a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period. Dax Sage made a few key saves in the final period of the game, as The Devils turned it on. Noah Hughes found the back of the net with a beauty shot on a pass from Pettey. With the Goalie out in the final minute, James Gullage buried a rebound off of a rush by Noah Hughes and tied the game with 27 seconds left.
The Red Devils carried the momentum from the earlier game that day, into a 5:00 pm game vs Little Caesar’s. In a very competitive game, where teams exchanged scoring chances and body checks, it was Matt Travers who put on a goaltending clinic and Noah Hughes who lit the lamp twice in a huge 2-1 win! Assisting on the goals; Whalen (2), Nicholson.
In their 6th game of the weekend, The Red Devils would face the LA Kings in a consolation game Sunday morning. Both teams scored a goal each in the first period and two in the second. Dax Sage shut the door in the third, and Mason Whalen buried the game winning goal on a beauty pass from Rowyn Haley, with 4 minutes left in the game. Also scoring for The Devils in the win; Austin Simpson, Austin Pettey and Kyler Patterson. Haley added 2 more assists and Holden Goulah and chipped in an assist as well.
The Red Devils would like to Thank Little Caesar’s for a great tournament and look forward to the invite again next September.
The QRD U13 AAA Red Devils are heading on the road to Windsor, ON, and looking forward to the Border City Memorial Tournament this upcoming weekend.
The 417 Bus Lines U12 Red Devils are Quarter Finalists at The Toronto Marlboros Friendship Tournament.
The U12’s had a good run, but their tournament ended in a thrilling quarter final loss to the Chicago Reapers.
Game 1 – 4-2 win vs. Toronto Red Wings
Game 2 – 6-1 win vs. Kitchener Jr. Rangers
Game 3 – 7-1 win vs. Soo Jr. Greyhounds
Game 4 – 11-1 win vs. Mississauga Senators
Quarter Finals – 7-6 loss vs. Chicago Reapers
On Deck: The 417 Bus Lines U12 Red Devils start regular season play with a road trip north, from October 04-06. They have two games against the North Central Predators and one against the Barrie Colts.
The Breakaway Fuels U11 Red Devils headed to Toronto on the weekend to take part in the Pre Season Toronto Marlies Friendship Tournament featuring some of the top teams in North America.
The first game on Friday saw the young Devils take on the host Toronto Marlboros. Although the game was a hard fought battle they came up on the short end with a 5-3 empty net goal loss. They quickly regrouped to take on Boston Advantage Elites and this time came away with a 2-1 win in a fast paced end to end game.
Saturday the Breakaway boys put on an offensive show posting scores of 9-2 against the Burlington Eagles and 11-1 against the North York Rangers.
This set the stage for a rematch in the quarter finals with Boston Advantage. The first period was again fast paced and the Devils were up 1-0 at the end of 12mins. A tough second period saw Boston use their outstanding speed to pull ahead by a score of 5-1 and put the U11 team in a hole just too big to get out of. Final score was 7-3. The coaching staff was extremely proud of the team and the way they handled themselves both on and off the ice.
Earning the Devils Fork for players of the games this weekend were Deacon Vos, Jordan Andrews, Charlie Dwyer, Jackson Simpson and Avery Thickson.
Next up for the team is a trip to London from Oct 4-6 to take part in the Drew Doughty tournament before they finally get a taste of league play on a trip to North Central and Barrie over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The QRD U10 AAA Red Devils were at the Peterborough AAA Pat Larock Memorial Tournament this past weekend where they had a great showing! On deck: the puck drops in Warkworth Arena at 2pm Saturday Sept 28th.
