QRD Weekly Report – Sunday Oct 1, 2017

 

Game Ready Hockey - Bantam
On Sunday, September 24th the Game Ready Hockey - Bantam travelled to Richmond Hill to take on the Coyotes. The Devils opened the scoring in the second with a goal from Jett Butler.  The Devils took a 2-1 lead in the second period with a goal from Clayton Farrow, assisted by Jett Butler. The third period started in a 2-2 tie. Both teams would score in the third ending the game in a 3-3 tie.  Quinte's goal was scored by Luke Lapalm and assisted by Daniel Michaud and Gavin Camp.  Ethan Fraser was in net.  

 

On Friday September 29th the Devils travelled to Oshawa to take on the Generals.  The high scoring game would result in a 6-4 win for the Red Devils.  In a team effort goals were scored by Jett Butler, Ben White (2), Luke Lapalm and Daniel Michaud (2).  Assists coming from Zack Brooks (2), Aaron Brown (2), Clayton Farrow, Daniel Michaud, Hunter Hall and Connor Hunt. Ethan Fraser was in net for the win and was awarded player of the game. 

 

On Saturday September 30th the Devils hosted York Simcoe Express.  Connor Brooks opened the scoring with a goal in the second period.  The Express answered back to tie the game.  With under a minute left in the third Daniel Michaud found the back of the net for the win.  Goal was assisted by Zack Brooks.  Ethan Fraser was in net for the win and was also awarded player of the game.

 

Bonn Law - Peewee
The Bonn Law Major Peewee Red Devils travelled to Toronto to participate in the Tyler Cragg Memorial tournament, hosted by the Toronto Junior Canadiens this past weekend. The Red Devils faced off against the Kitchener Jr Rangers in Game 1. The Devils could not find their stride and lost by a score of

5-2.

In Game 2 the devils faced off against the Markham Majors. The Devils played a back and forth game, but could not fend off the Majors attack taking a 6-4 loss.

Game 3 had the Devils matched up against the fourth ranked Toronto Marlies. The boys hit the ice sporting pink laces ad pink tape in honour of one of our hockey Mom’s Nichole Dever, who is currently battling breast cancer. The Devils came together as a team and played their best game of the season to show their support for Nichole, while proving to themselves that they have a bright season a head of them. The Devils scored first in the first period however each team would trade goals throughout the game ending in a 5-5 tie.

In Game 4 the Devils took to the ice versus the Sault St Marie Jr Greyhounds. The Devils found themselves down a goal as the Greyhounds scored first early in the first period. After that the Devils found their scoring touch notching 7 unanswered goals and earning the 7-1 win.

The weekend proved to be a valuable experience as the Devils were able to come together as a team and improve their play throughout the tournament.

On Deck: The Devils are now set to face the Barrie Colts and the North Central Predators in league play next weekend during trip North.

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantams
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams continue their ETA season this past weekend with a home game in Cobourg against the undefeated York Simco Express, and hit the road to Kingston to take on the Jr. Frontenacs. 

On Saturday Sept. 30, the Bus Liners took on the undefeated York Simcoe Express in their home opener in Cobourg.  Sami Douglas-Najem opened the scoring with a powerplay goal on a nice feed from Liam Cassidy, to give the Devils a 1-0 lead going into the second period. The Express evened things up in the second, but the Devils would answer twice on goals from; Cooper Matthews, assisted by Corbin Roach, and a goal from Donovan McCoy, assisted by Trevor Hoskin and Owen Beck.  The Devils had a 3 to 1 lead going into the third.  The Express pressed hard in the third and pulled within one, but Sami Douglas-Najem put the Express away with an “empty netter”, assisted by Owen Beck.  Braydon Spry made key saves in the Devils net for the 4-2 win.

On Sunday Oct 1, the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams made the short trip to Kingston to take on the Jr. Frontenacs.  For the first time this season, the Red Devils were back to a full bench as Corbin Votary returned to the line-up.  The Devils found themselves down by 1 early in the first period, but Captain; Dalyn Wakely would even things up on a breakaway to close the first period with a 1 to 1 score.  Donovan McCoy would give the Devils the lead in the second as he scored on a powerplay with assists going to Own Beck and Aaron Brown.  The Devils would light the lamp a second time in the middle frame, as Noah Richard scored on a feed from Owen Beck.  The Devils had a 3-1 lead going into the third. Parker Steward scored on a boomer from the point in the third on assists from Trevor Hoskin and Owen Beck to put the Fronts away by a score of 4-1.  Corbin Votary went the distance in his return to the Devils cage.

Next Action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams; is Saturday Oct 7, as they host the Markham Waxers at the QSWC with the puck drop at 3:45. 


Kwik Kopy Printing - Minor Atom
The Kwik Kopy Printing Minor Atoms hosted the Kingston Jr Frontenacs in Deseronto Sunday October 1st. Kingston scored the games first two goals and would take a 2-0 lead into the second period.  The Devils started the second on a mission.  Jack Foley got the scoring started for the Devils scoring 10 seconds into the period from Ryland Cunningham and Connor Fetterley.  Defenceman Jacob Moore capped off a nice rush going bar down assisted by Owen Rivers Kolby Craig.  With 5 minutes left in the second, Fetterley gave Quinte their first lead of the game on a goal assisted by Foley and Cunningham.  The third period was also all Quinte with Cunningham scoring his first of the day from Fetterley and Foley.  Craig put the Devils up 5-2 midway through the third assisted by Rivers and Kaden Koutroulides. Cunningham would complete his hat trick by scoring goals two and three before the game would end each being assisted by Foley and Fetterley, completing a 5 point game for each of them.  Kayden McBride-Hyde earned the win in net. 

On Deck: Saturday October 7th in Cobourg vs Barrie Colts. 

McInroy Maines - Midget

The McInroy Maines Major Midget Red Devils earned two points on the road in York Simcoe on October 1st. The fellas won 5-3 with two goals from Dalton Bancroft and Nate Boomhower respectively while Ryan Loiselle added a single. Ethan Taylor Stood tall in the cage. Everyone in the injury depleted lineup made an impact.

 

On Deck: The boys have their home opener on Saturday October 7th in Deseronto, 2pm vs. Peterborough.

 

Rhino Sports and Play - Novice

The Rhino Sports and Play Novice Devils have started their first of many games on home ice. On Saturday Sept 30, the Devils defeated the Barrie Colts with a 4-2 win. Goals were scored by Cameron Shaw, Brayden Davidson, Paxton Erskine, and Maclean Chisholm with assists from Maclean Chisholm, Seth Scaletta (2), Jake Gawley Nate Rashotte and Keegan Goulah.

Sundays game seemed to be a loosing battle for the Novice Devils. Although they played with heart, they proved to be no match for the Whitby Wildcats. The first period brought an unassisted goal by Jonas McCoy with no scoring in the second. The third period came to an end with a 11-3 loss. Third period goal scorers were Chase Cybulskie assisted by Seth Scaletta and Maclean Chisholm assisted by Ryan Foley and Seth Scaletta.


Madison Excavating - Minor Peewee
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewee Red Devils were on the road this week for a mid-week match up against the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs at the Invista Centre. The start of the game had the two teams back and forth in end to end action. The first set would end in a 0-0 tie. The Devils would be set back as Kingston would strike first in the second to take a 1-0 lead and then add another to the lead in the third to make it 2-0. The Devils remained undeterred and continued to battle into the third period. It would be Gage Butcher on a bounce that was first to find the back of the net for the Devils. Jared Langdon wasted no time in tucking another past the quick handed Fronts net minder to tie the game. It was Ben Vreugdenhil, with a shot from the point, on the set up from Brody Partridge and Thomas Kuipers, who made the score 3-2 in favor of the Devils. Quinte would hold on to the lead and go home with 2 points and the win. Mike Ivor handled the goaltending duties.

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees will host their home opener on Saturday at QSWC at 2:15 verses the Markham Waxers. On Sunday, they will take on the North Central Predators at the Madoc Rec. Centre at 1:00pm.
