QRD Weekly Report – Monday October 30, 2017

Madison Excavating - Minor Peewee
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees had a busy week in regular season play as they hit the ice for 3 games this week and came home with another 3 wins and 6 points.

Wednesday had the Devils on the road for a midweek match up against the Central Ontario Wolves in Fenlon Falls. Quinte shook off the travel legs early and potted 2 goals in the first to give them a 2-0 lead before the end of the first set. Landon Wright opened up the scoring on the set up from Carson Campbell and Ben Danford. Jared Langdon would score the second assisted by Campbell. The Minor Peewees would round out the scoring in the second to add another 3 and take a 5-0 lead. Scoring in the second were Gage Butcher and Beckett Ewart with two. Assisting were Braedyn Rogers, Ty Therrien, Langdon and Ben Vreugdenhil(2). The third period would endless scoreless and give Quinte the victory. Dean Spry recorded the shut out in net.

Saturday saw the Devils playing host in Trenton for the Golden Hawks/Quinte day to the Peterbourgh Petes. It was Ty Therrien who would open up the scoring in the first on the pass from Anthony Nugent. The Petes battled back to tie in the second but the Devils were undeterred and would quickly take the lead again on a goal from Butcher with the assist by Liam Philip and Therrien. Therrien would go on to add the security goal in the third assisted by Philip and Deacon Ellis. Mike McIvor would take the win between the pipes for the Devils.

The Devils took to the road on Sunday to face the Raiders in Ajax. Quinte would dominate the first set and take a 3-0 lead. Beckett Ewart opened the scoring assisted by Campbell and Wright. Thomas Kuipers and Deacon Ellis would add the next two goals with assists going to Brody Partridge, Philip and Therrien. Ajax would sneak in a couple quick goals early in the second but it was all Devils the rest of the game as they added 2 more in the second from Wright and Ewart, set up by Ewart, Danford and Langdon(2). Rylan Reid would score the only goal of the third on the pass from Kuipers and Partridge. Dean Spry took the win in net.

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees head to the Shanahan Tournament this weekend in Toronto.

KKP Printing - Minor Atom

Kwik Kopy Printing Minor Atoms earn 6 points over busy weekend. The Kwik Kopy Printing Minor Atoms traveled to Clarington Friday October 27th to face the Toros.  The first period saw most of the action in Clarington's end but, it would be the Toros that struck first as they scored late in the period.  Jack Foley got Quinte on the board with his first of three on the night and first of six unanswered Quinte goals.  Clarington would score two goals in the last two minutes to keep it respectable but, it was too late.  Goal scorers were Foley(3), Owen Rivers, Kolby Craig and Ryland Cunningham. 

Assists to Cunningham, Foley, Rivers, Kaden Koutroulides, Riley Reid, Connor Fetterley, Rykken Ellis and Tavin MacDonald. Kaydin Mcbride-Hyde earned the win in net. 


Just over 12 hours later Quinte played host to last years division leading Peterborough Petes.  Being Quinte day in Trenton the Red Devils were up for the challenge.  It was a back and forth first period with each team generating quality scoring chances. Connor Fetterley got the Devils on the board with a nice feed from Ryland Cunningham.  Just over two minutes later Fetterley would give Devils a 2-0 lead with another nice goal and pass from Cunningham. 

Peterborough cut into the lead with just over five minutes left in the second and would tie the game before the period ended. The message between periods was to get the puck deep and score that all important next goal.  The boys responded with Connor Fetterley completing the hat trick, scoring yet another highlight reel goal on a great pass from Cunningham.  Peterborough would press late in the game but, Jack Foley sealed the win with an empty netter giving the Devils a well earned 4-2 win.  Nowl Wallace was strong in net earning the win. 

The Devils would hit the road again on Sunday as they traveled to Ajax to play the Ajax Pickering Raiders.  Quinte had a number of chances and finally got on the board with a goal from Rivers.  Cunningham would score 40 seconds later assisted by Fetterley and Jacob Moore.  Quinte continued with a number of scoring chances and would take the 2-0 lead into the third.  The Ajax Pickering goalie made a number of big saves but, Foley would put one past him midway through the third assisted by Blake Leblanc.  Kaden Mcbride-Hyde turned aside everything he faced earning the shut out in net.

Game Ready Hockey Development - Bantam
The Game Ready Development Bantams had two games this past week. On Friday the Bantams travelled to Oshawa to face the Generals. The Devils won 5-2 with goals by Nathanial Burelle, Daniel Michaud (2), Clayton Farrow, and Conner Brooks. Assisting was Nathanial Burrelle (2), Ben White, Gavin Camp, Zack Brooks, and Brady Darrach. Dixon Grimes was in net. Oz Paziuk was player of the game. 

 

On Saturday the Devils hosted the Peterborough Petes where they finished with a 2-0 victory. Goals by Jett Butler and Luke Lapalm. Assists go to Clayton Farrow, Conner Brooks, and Nathanial Burelle. Ethan Fraser was in net and was awarded player of the game. 

 

Rhino Sports and Play – Novice
On Friday Oct 27 the Red Devils had an 8-5 loss against the Clarington Toros. There were first period goals scored by Keegan Goulah and Cameron Shaw. Assists were provided by Seth Scaletta, Ryan Foley and Paxton Erskine. In the second period Joey Nieman scored the lone QRD goal with assists from Nate Rashotte and Seth Scaletta. The final 2 goals in the third period were scored by Jake Gawley and Chase Cybulskie, with assists from Keegan Goulah and Brayden Davidson. 

On Saturday Oct 28 the Quinte Novice Devils defeated the Peterborough Petes by a score of 6-4. In the second period Keegan Goulah and Brayden Davidson scored with assists from Ty Leavitt, Paxton Erskine and Gabriel Davis.  The third period brought the final 3 goals from Paxton Erskine, Jake Gawley and Nate Rashotte, with  assists from Keegan Goulah, Brayden Davidson, MacLean Chisholm and Seth Scaletta.

On Sunday Oct 29, The Rhino Sports and Play Quinte Novice Red Devils lost their 3rd and final game of the weekend 6-0, against the Richmond Hill Coyotes. 

 

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantam
In their only game this past weekend, the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams hosted the Peterborough Pete’s on Saturday Oct 28 at the Duncan McDonald Arena in Trenton.  The team came out on top, in front of the home crowd on “Quinte Day”. 

The Bus Liners got things rolling in the first period with a goal by Noah Richard on a nice long pass from Sami Douglas-Najem.  This gave the Devils a 1-0 lead going into the 2nd frame.  Cooper Matthews lit the lamp on a break away goal showing his stuff with a beauty back hand deke, giving the Devils a 2-0 lead going into the third.  Early in the third, Trevor Hoskin netted an unassisted goal for the 3-0 lead.  Midway through the final frame, Kellen Dostaler found the back of the Pete’s net on feeds from Cooper Matthews and Connor Hunt. Then Kellen scored his second of the game with 4 minutes left to give the Devils the 5-0 lead and eventual final score.  Brady Spry was perfect in the Devils cage recording the shut out and the 5-0 win.

Next Action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams is this Wednesday night, Nov 1 at the QSWC.  The Devils take on the rival, Kingston Jr Frontenacs with the puck scheduled to drop at 7:45pm.


Pita Pit - Major Atom
The Major Atom Pita Pit Red Devils played three games over the weekend. The boys travelled to Bowmanville to face the Clarington Toros on Friday night and came up short in a 4-1 loss. Sam Thompson scored his first of the season, assisted by Deke Osterhout and Evan Erwin. Liam Boyer was in net. The team participated in Quinte Day with the Trenton Golden Hawks on Saturday. While the boys came out strong and were up 2-0 at one point, the game ended in a 6-3 loss to Peterborough. Avery Wease (Alec Asimis), Evan Erwin (Jake Sage and Osterhout) and Thompson (Osterhout) scored for the Red Devils. Lennox Stewart was in net. Sunday saw the team playing back at their home rink in Deseronto against the Oshawa Generals. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Rylan McCormack (Thompson and Mason Musclow) and Sage (Ethan Lord) scored for Quinte. Liam Boyer was in net.
