QRD Weekly Report – Monday December 18, 2017

Bonn Law – Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Major Peewee Team had a busy week in league play, and skated away with 3 of a possible 6 points this week. The Devils travelled to Whitby on Wednesday evening, to take on the Wildcats for the third time this season. Ethan Quick scored a pair of goals in the first period for the Devils, assisted by Jack Dever (2) and Nick Oke. Although the Devils outplayed the Wildcats for most of the game, they were unable to find that go ahead goal that they needed in the third period, and would have to settle for a 2-2 tie. Aidan Crowley was sharp between the pipes for his team. On Saturday, the Devils were back on the road, this time looking to redeem themselves against the Central Ontario Wolves. The Red Devils played a very solid game, taking a 3-0 lead into the third period. The Wolves would not give up, and managed to score two goals of their own in the third, before Quinte sealed the win with an empty net goal to win the game 4-2. Scoring for the Devils was Ethan Miedema (2), Ethan Quick and Jack Dever. Christopher Brydges, Ben Smith, Miedema and Quick all added helpers on the goals. Brayden Friedrich had a very strong game in net to earn the win for his team. On Sunday, The Devils were home to the York Simcoe Express. Once again, the Devils were the better team for two periods, taking a

4-3 lead into the third period. The Express came out fighting hard in the third, and scored three unanswered goals to win the game 6-4. Scoring for the Devils was Ethan Miedema (2), Christopher Brydges and Ethan Quick. Adding the assists on the goals was Jack Lowry (2), Will Haley, Tyson Carr, Aidan Haller-Brady, Dever (2) and Brydges. Aidan Crowley was solid between the pipes for the Devils.

Madison Excavating - Minor Peewee
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees had just one league game this week as they played host to the Whitby Wildcats in Madoc on Sunday.

The Devils came out fast and worked the Wildcats back and forth throughout the first period. It was Quinte on the board first with a shot from Jared Langdon, assisted by Ben Danford to take a 1-0 lead. It would be the Devils again as Beckett Ewart would make it a 2-0 lead on the set up from Liam Philip. Whitby continued to battle as they managed to sneak one past the Devils netminder to make it a 2-1 game. As the dying minutes of the third ticked away, Whitby pulled the goalie to give them the extra attacker but Quinte capitalized on the empty net and added another security goal to make it 3-1. Adding the final goal was Philip on the assist from Ben Vreugdenhil and Deacon Ellis. Mike McIvor was solid between the pipes for the Devils.

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees will host to two home games this week. Wednesday will be the Kingston Frontenacs at the QSWC and Saturday it so be the Oshawa Generals will travel to Belleville to face the Devils.

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantam
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams played two games in ETA League action this past week as they hosted the North Central Predators, and hit the road against the Richmond Hill Coyotes.

On Saturday Dec 16, the Devils hosted the North Central Predators at the QSWC.  The Devils got on the board first; early in the first period, on a nice defensive rush by Liam Cassidy catching the Predators on a line change.  Assisting on the Cassidy goal were; Connor Hunt and Aaron Brown. The Devils added to their tally early in the 2nd period; as Kellen Dostaler scored with a beauty tip from Aaron Brown and Donovan McCoy.  Each team skated to a scoreless third period, as the Devils took this one by a score of 2 to 0.  Corbin Votary turned away all the Preds shots to record another shut out in the Devils cage.

On Sunday Dec 17, the Devils bused to Richmond Hill to take on the Coyotes at the Elvis Stojko Arena.  In a fast-paced game, both teams skated to a scoreless first period.  Liam Filip opened the scoring for the Devils in the 2nd period on feeds from Trevor Hoskin and Parker Stewart to give the Devils a 1 to 0 lead going into the 3rd.  The Devils opened things up as Corbin Roach potted a pair with Dalyn Wakely assisted on each, and Donovan McCoy on the 2nd.  Connor Hunt added a 4th goal, assisted by Liam Filip and Trevor Hoskin.  The Coyotes finally got on the board late in the 3rd, but it wasn’t enough as the Devils took the game by a score of 4 to 1.  Brady Spry was solid, going the distance in the Devils net.


On Deck: Next action for the Bus Liners, is Saturday Dec 23, when the Devils take on the Central Ontario Wolves at the QSWC, in their final league game going into the Christmas break. Puck drops at 3:45pm.


Rhino Sports and Play Quinte - Novice
On Friday December 15th the Rhino Sports and Play Quinte Novice Red Devils travelled to Ottawa to compete in the 14th Annual Ottawa Senators Holiday Classic.  

The first game ended in a 1-1 tie against Ottawa's top ranked team Ottawa Valley Silver Seven. It was a tight checking game with the one and only goal scored unassisted by Chisholm. In net was Charlie Vos.

The second game was a 3-1 win for the opposing Gloucester Rangers. The lone goal was scored by Chisholm assisted by Nieman. In net was Daniel Yeo.

The third and final game was a hard back and forth battle for the Devils, with 17 - 5 shots on net the Devils just couldn't get it past the rock solid goalie of the Nepean Raiders. A 2-2 tie brought the game to an end. Goal scorers Cybulskie and Nieman assists by Shaw and Rashotte. With two ties and one loss it just wasn't enough points to push the Devils through to the play off rounds. 
On Deck: Next regular season game Dec 23 against the Clarington Toros. 


Game Ready Hockey Development - Bantam
The Game Ready Development Bantams had two games this past week. Friday the Devils travelled to Kingston to take on the Frontenacs where they battle to a 2-1 victory. Goals by Zack Brooks and Ben White. Nathanial Burelle with the assist. Ethan Fraser was in net. Aiden Treverton was awarded player of the game. 

Sunday the Devils visited the Peterborough Petes where they walked out with an 8-2 win. Goals from Aiden Treverton, Ethan Breok, Nathanial Burelle, Ben White, Luke LaPalm, Daniel Michaud, Zack Brooks, and Blake Maracle. Assists came from Clayton Farrow, Daniel Michaud (2), Luke LaPalm (2), Nathanial Burelle (2), Ben White (2), and Zack Brooks. Dixon Grimes was in net. Luke LaPalm was awarded player of the game.
