Free Flow Petroleum - Minor Midget
The Free Flow Minor Midgets had a successful weekend after starting off the new year on a rocky road. Saturday the team headed on the road to Oshawa where they ran into tons of penalty problems but escaped with a well deserved 5-1 win. Opening the  Scoring for the Free Flow boys was Jacob Vreugdenhill from Jacob Gilbert and Ben Roger. Nick Kirby-Palliser then scored an unassisted short-handed marker. Marshall McFarland then took over the game scoring a natural hat trick including another two short handed goals on great individual efforts. Assists went to Cole McGuire, Roger and Vreugdenhill. Ethan McDonnell was solid in net.

Sunday it was a home game with the Clarington Toros in a battle for 2nd place in the ETA East. Both teams have been tied for second place for some time as the season comes to an end and each team looking for home ice advantage. The Devils came out flying looking for an early advantage and finally found it after some near misses. Ben Roger from a nifty pass from Vreugdenhill lit the lamp with Karsten Leoonard grabbing the other assist. Quinte kept pressing and Garrett Bird put Quinte ahead 2-0 with Connor McGregor assisting. Knowing there was still tons of game left, Jacob Gilbert blasted a shot past the Toros keeper to make it 3-0 with the assist from Roger. Nick Kirby-Palliser on a nice individual effort on the penalty kill made it 4-0 as the penalty ended. Quinte had several more scoring chances hitting a few posts and missing some open nets to finish out the game with a hard fought 4-0 victory to take over sole possession of second place. Ethan McDonnell was outstanding in net.

On Deck: Next action for the Free Flow Petroleum boys is Tuesday January 16 at 7pm at Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee before they head to the Peterboro Tournament of Champions this coming weekend.

KKP Printing - Minor Atom
On the weekend of January 5th to 7th the KKP Minor Atoms participated in the Oshawa Challenge Tournament.

The KKP Minor Atoms started off with back to back convincing wins on January 5th. Beating the Toronto Young Nationals 4-0. Nowl Wallace recorded the shutout in net. Scoring for the Devils was Ryland Cunningham (2), Owen Rivers and Kolby Craig.  Recording assists for the Devils was Rivers, Craig, Cooper Kelly and Jack Foley.

The Devils followed it up with another shutout of the North Central Predators 5-0. Kayden Mcbride-Hyde recorded the shutout.  Scoring for the Devils was Rivers, Foley (2) and Craig (2). Recording assists was Rivers (2), Foley and Craig.

On Saturday the Minor Atoms struggled at times and finished with a loss and a tie, but still qualifying for the semi finals. In the morning the Devils ties the Ajax/ Pickering Raiders 2-2. Wallace picked up the tie between the pipes. Scoring for the Devils was Cunningham and Rivers, with Kaden Koutroulides picking up the line assist.

In the afternoon the Devils lost 5-2 to the host Oshawa Generals. Mcbride-Hyde was in the net for the loss. Scoring for Devils was Rivers and Connor Fetterley. Picking up assists was Foley and Koutroulides.

The Devils finished in second in the round robin setting up a semi final versus the Ajax/ Pickering Raiders.

The Devils dominated from start to finish winning 6-1. Wallace picked up the win in net. Scoring for the Devils was Rivers (3), Fetterley, Craig and Koutroulides. Picking up assists was Koutroulides, Rykken Ellis, Foley, Riley Reid and Lucas Ferguson.

With the win the Devils headed to the Finals for a rematch versus the North Central Predators. The Devils won a hard fought game 4-1 and winning the championship. This was the Devils second tournament win of the season. Wallace picked up the win in net. Scoring for the Devils was Rivers, Foley, Craig and Fetterley. Picking up assists was Craig, Foley (2) and Craig.

On January 12th to 14th weekend the KKP Minor Atoms headed to Kingston for the Taylor Hall Cup.

On Friday the Devils started out hot winning back to back games. the Devils beat the Markham Majors 6-1 in the morning with Mcbride-Hyde picking up the win in net. Scoring for the Devils was Craig (2), Carson Lynch, Foley, Fetterley and Cunningham. Picking up assists was Craig, Lynch, Fetterley, Cunningham, Koutroulides and Rivers.

In the afternoon the Devils beat the Nepean Raiders 4-2. Wallace records the win in net. Scoring for the Devils was Foley, Cunningham, Craig and Koutroulides. Picking up assists was Foley and Cunningham. 

On Saturday the Devils struggled through a 5-1 loss to the Guelph Gryphons.  Mcbride-Hyde recorded the loss in net. Scoring for the Devils was Ferguson assisted by Fetterley.

The Devils rebounded in the afternoon coming back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Kanata Blazers 3-2. Wallace picked up the win in net. Scoring for the Devils was Fetterley, Craig and Cunningham. Picking up assists was Rivers, Foley, Kelly and Koutroulides.

With the win the Devils secured second place in the standings and qualifying for a rematch versus the Guelph Gryphons in the semifinals. The Devils won a hard fought game 6-3 with Mcbride-Hyde picking up the win in net.  Scoring for the Devils was Cunningham, Foley, Jacob Moore, Kelly and Craig. Picking up assists was Foley, Craig (2) and Tavin MacDonald. 

With the win the Devils headed to the championship versus the undefeated Toronto Titans. The Devils game out hot and went up 3-0 and then held for a 3-2 win. Wallace picked up the win. Foley recorded a natural hat trick   and Tournament MVP. Picking up assists was Craig (3), Rivers, Kelly and Cunningham.

The minor atom Red Devils have won 3 out 5 tournaments this season. Congratulations boys.

On Deck: Upcoming the Devils get no rest as they have 3 games this week including games versus the 6th ranked team in Ontario the Peterborough Petes and the fifth ranked and defending OMHA champions the Central Ontario Wolves.

Pita Pit - Atom
It was a busy week again for the Pita Pit Atom team with a game against Peterborough on Tues Jan 9th in Deseronto. With this being the 4th game in 5 days the Pita Pit boys were feeling the effects. Both teams were a little slow out of the gate but Quinte managed a point with a 1-1 tie, goal scored by Avery Wease assisted by Rylan Mccormack and Deke Osterhout. Lennox Stewart was solid between the pipes.

With only 2 days rest the boys then participated in the Taylor Hall Cup Classic held in Kingston. In Game 1 the Pita Pit boys faced Rideau St. Lawrence to a 4-4 tie, goals from Jake Sage, Evan Erwin, and Kaiden Harmon with the 3rd and 4th goal. Assists by Ethan Lord, Stewart, Alek Asismis, Sage, Owen Ferguson, Carter Chadwick, Mason Boyer and Owen Cassidy. Stewart was in net for the tie along with his assist.

In game 2 the Pita Pit boys faced their rivals from the Hamilton Bulldogs Tournament the Waterloo Wolves. This time Quinte came out on top with a 3-2 win. Goals scored by McCormack (2), Osterhout goal and 2 assists, Wease with 2 assists. Liam Boyer picked up the win.

The Pita Pit boys continued with strong play against the Cumberland Grads in game 3. With a 5-2 win, goals were scored by Osterhout (2), Harmon (2), McCormack. Assists by Wease, Mason Musclow, Ferguson, Nathan Sills, Cassidy (2), McCormack. Stewart was solid in net.

The round robin play wrapped up in a game against the Oshawa Generals and a 6-0 win. It was a solid team effort, goals scored by McCormack, Harmon (2), Osterhout, Wease, assisted by Wease, Osterhout, Chadwick, Asimis, Sage and Musclow. Liam earned the shutout.

Their success in the round robin advanced the team to the semi-finals early Sunday morning against the Seaway Valley Rapids. With Stewart in net, Osterhout and Harmon started the scoring creating a 2-0 lead with assists from Wease, McCormack, Chadwick and Cassidy. Seaway battled back to make a game of it. McCormack scored the 3rd goal from Osterhout but it wasn't enough, Quinte lost 5-3.

On deck: Wed. Jan. 17 vs Kingston Jr Frontenacs at 7:00 pm in Marmora and Saturday Jan. 20 at Richmond Hill Coyotes 


Rhino Sports and Play - Novice

On Saturday Jan. 13 the Novice Red Devils travelled to Oshawa to take on the Generals.  With a minute and thirty-nine seconds left in the first period Jonas McCoy buried a deep unassisted goal. Another late period goal with 50 seconds left in the second was scored by MacLean Chisholm assisted by Seth Scaletta brought the Devils up by two goals. Oshawa came back in the third scoring with 3.7 seconds left to tie the game at 2-2. Charlie Vos handled the goaltending duties for the Red Devils.

 

Sunday Jan. 14th the Devils took on long time rivals, the Peterborough Petes in an afternoon home game.  The Devils started out slow in the first with a single goal scored with 39 seconds left by Joseph Nieman assisted by Paxton Erskine.  The Pete's tied the fast paced game 2 minutes into the third. The  Devils fought back with two third period goals by Erskine assisted by Keegan Goulah and an unassisted goal by Nate Rashotte. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.  Daniel Yeo was between the pipes for Quinte.

 

On Deck: Up next Sat Jan 20th Devils will visit Markham to take on the Waders and Sun home to face the Oshawa Generals.

 

Madison Excavating - Minor Peewee
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees were participants in The Cup tournament in Buffalo, N.Y. Game one Friday had the Devils face the Brantford 99ers. The two teams battled hard back and forth and while the Devils had the lead a few times throughout the game, they would have to settle for a 4-4 tie to start the tourney. Mike McIvor minded the net for Quinte.

Friday's second game had Quinte face the New Jersey Avalanche. The Devils would come out strong and take their first win of the tournament with a dominant 6-0 win. Dean Spry recorded the shut out. 

Game one Saturday had the Devils play a memorable and chilly outdoor game against the Valley Jr. Warriors. Taking their second win with 5-1 victory. McIvor took the win in net.

Matching up against the toughest competition of the tournament, the Devils took on the Mississauga Sens on Saturday evening. The boys worked hard and while the second period was scoreless for both, they succumbed to their first loss of The Cup with a 5-0 loss. Spry was in net for the game.

Game Ready Hockey Development - Bantam
The Game Ready Development Bantams played three games this week and would finish with a record of 2-0-1. On January 10, 2018 the Devils travelled to Clarington to take on the Toros.  The Game would end in a 3-3 tie.  Devil's goals scored by Jett Butler, Connor Brooks and Luke LaPalm.  Assists from Aiden Treverton, Erik MacNiel, Clayton Farrow and Blake Maracle. Ethan Fraser was in net.

January 11th the Devil's hosted the Kingston Frontenac's and would skate to a 4-3 victory.  Goals by Jett Butler, Zack Brooks, Ben White and Nathanial Burelle. Assists from Alex Case, Gavin Camp, Nathanial Burelle (2), Daniel Michaud and Luke LaPalm. Dixon Grimes was in net for the win. Alex Case was awarded player of the game.

In the final game of the week the Bantam's would skate to a 8-2 victory over the Central Ontario Wolves.  Scoring for the Devil's was Jett Butler, Ben White (2)Zack Brooks (2), Erik MacNiel, Nathanial Burelle and Daniel Michaud.  Assisting was Hunter Hall, Daniel Michaud, Luke LaPalm, Nathania l Burelle (2), Ben White, Jett Butler and Alex Case. Ethan Fraser was in net for the win and Zack Brooks was awarded player of the game.

On Deck: Double header Saturday verses the Oshawa Generals at QSWC.  Game one 11:30am and game two at 2:15pm.


Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantam
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams pick up 6 more points in ETA action with wins against the Pete’s, Wolve’s and Toros’s.  The win against the Toro’s on Jan 13 has secured a playoff spot for the Bus Liners as they head into the remaining 10 games of the regular season.


On Jan. 6, the Red Devils hit the road to take on the Pete’s at the Evinrude Centre in Peterborough.  The Devils opened the scoring as Captain Dalyn Wakely scored with assists going to Noah Richard and Aaron Brown.  The Pete’s evened the game midway through the first period at 1, but the Devils weren’t finished as Noah Richard scored on feeds from Donovan McCoy and Aaron Brown, to give the Devils a 2 to 1 lead going into the 2nd period.  It was all Devils in the 2nd period as Donovan McCoy scored with assists going to Cooper Matthews and Trevor Hoskin.  Trevor McDowell added another defensive point as he found the back of the net, assisted by Connor Hunt. Kellen Dostaller added the fifth goal assisted by Liam Cassidy.  Both teams skated to a scoreless third period as the Devils took the game by a score of 5 to 1.  Corbin Votary was solid in the Devils cage.


On Jan. 7, the Bus Liners were on the road again to Lindsay to take on the Central Ontario Wolves.  It was all Devils in the first period as Cooper Matthews, Dalyn Wakely and Kellen Dostaller lit the lamp for the Devils.  Assisting on the first period Devil goals were; Trevor McDowell, Noah Richard, Trevor Hoskin and Corbin Roach.  The Devils had a 3 to 0 lead going into the 2nd period.  The Wolves scored 2 goals in the 2nd period, but the Devils continued to find the back of the Wolve’s net.  Noah Richard scored 3 times in the 2nd frame to net the hat trick.  Assisting on the Richard goals were; Dalyn Wakely with two, Donovan McCoy and Trevor Hoskin.  The Devils had a 6 to 2 lead going into the final period.  Each team would add another goal with Parker Stewart scoring the Devil goal, assisted by Connor Hunt.  Final score was 7 to 3 in favour of the Devils, with Brady Spry going the distance in the Devil’s net.


On Jan. 13, the Devils hosted the gritty Clarington Toro’s at the QSWC.  The Devils score one goal in each period to take the game by a score of 3 to 0.  Dalyn Wakely scored unassisted in the first period.  Corbin Roach lit the lamp in the 2nd period on feeds from Dalyn Wakely and Donovan McCoy.  Kellen Dostaller added the third period goal on assists by Liam Cassidy and Aaron Brown.  Corbin Votary was perfect in the Devils cage, stopping a 2nd period break away and staving off a 5 on 3 penalty kill to record his third “shut out” in his last five games. 

Next action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams, is Jan 20 at the QSWC. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:45pm.
