QRD Weekly Report – Feb 20, 2018

Pita Pit - Atom
Pita Pit Boys finish 1st overall - Once again the PitaPit Quinte Red Devils Atom team had a busy week with a midweek makeup game against the Central Ontario Wolves. In this last regular season game the PitaPit boys would come out on top with a 3-0 win to finish first overall. Goals were scored by Jake Sage assisted by Alek Asimis, Deke Osterhout from Rylan McCormack and Sam Thompson, Avery Wease assisted by Osterhout and Mason Boyer. Liam Boyer picked up the shutout.

This first place finish would dictate a first-round playoff series against the Clarington Toros. With home ice advantage the PitaPit boys came up a little short in the first game with a 2-1 loss. The loan goal for Quinte scored by Osterhout from McCormack and Mason Musclow. L. Boyer had a strong game in the loss.

The PitaPit boys had something to prove in game 2 and came back with a strong effort to win the game 3-2. Goals scored by Wease, Osterhout and Carter Chadwick with assists by Osterhout, Owen Ferguson and Kaiden Harmon. Lennox Stewart made several key saves in the win.

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantam
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams ended their regular season with a record of 31-4-1! The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams close the regular season with 3 games this past week. The Bus Liners come out of the week in ETA action with two wins and a loss.

On Feb 13, the Red Devils hosted the Whitby Wildcats in Marmora and came out with a 5 to 2 win. The Wildcats struck first; midway through the first, but the Devils answered as Noah Richard scored on assists from Corbin Roach and Dalyn Wakely, to make it a 1 – 1 game going into the second. Donovan McCoy scored on assists by Corbin Roach and Dalyn Wakely in the second to take the lead, but the Wildcats answered to tie the game 2 to 2 going into the 3rd.  It was all Devils in the third period as Corbin Roach lit the lamp twice and Dalyn Wakely scored an empty netter.  Assisting on the third period goals were; Trevor McDowell, Noah Richard with a pair, and Donovan McCoy.  Final score was 5 – 2 for the Devils with Brady Spry going the distance in the Devils cage.

Feb 17 was Sponsor Appreciation Day as the Red Devils hosted Whitby at the QSWC. Several sponsors including Duane Foley of Foley Bus Lines were on hand for the ceremonies. It was the Wildcats that got on the board first in the 2nd period, but the Devils answered with a goal from Corbin Roach to tie the game at 1 goal apiece going into the third period.  Assisting on the Roach goal were Sami Douglas-Najem and Noah Richard.  The Wildcats would score the only goal of the third period to take the win away from the Devils by a score of 2 to 1. Corbin Votary was on duty in the Devils net.

On Feb 18, the Devils travelled to Peterborough to take on the Petes at the Evenrude Centre.  The Devils were looking to bounce back after the loss on Saturday, and they did in fine fashion.  In first period action, the Bus Liners scored first as Dalyn Wakely scored on an assist by Cooper Matthews and Donovan McCoy.  The Petes evened things up, but the Devils regained the lead on a goal from Dalyn Wakely, assisted by Donovan McCoy and Corbin Roach.  In second period action, it was all Devils as Noah Richard, Cooper Matthews and Connor Hunt found the back of the Petes net.  Assisting on the 2nd period goals were; Donovan McCoy, Dalyn Wakely with three, Liam Filip and Aaron Brown.  In the third, each team scored once. Owen Beck scored for the Devils on assists from Noah Richard and Connor Hunt.  Final score was 6 to 2 in favour of the Red Devils.  Brady Spry was solid in the Devils net.

Next action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams is playoff action as the Red Devils will enter the best of 5 series against Kingston.

 

Game Ready Hockey Development - Bantam
The Game Ready Development Bantams played their last two league games this weekend. On Saturday, they travelled to Peterborough to take on the Petes.  Peterborough would win the game 6-3.  Goals for the Devil's scored by Daniel Michaud, Luke LaPalm and Zack Brooks.  Assist from Erik MacNeil, Gavin Camp and Daniel Michaud. Dixon Grimes was in net.

On Sunday they travelled to Markham where they took on Waxers.  They would skate to 4-3 win.  Goals from Erik MacNeil, Daniel Michaud, Ethan Broek and Zack Brooks.  Assists from Nathanial Burelle, Zack Brooks, Clayton Farrow (2), Aiden Treverton and Jett Butler. Ethan Fraser was in net and Zack Brooks was awarded player of the game.

Rhino Sports and Play - Novice
With playoffs underway the Rhino Sports and Play Quinte Novice Red Devils keep the momentum going with a tie on the road and a home game win this past weekend against long time rivals Peterborough Petes. 

Saturday Feb. 17 the Devils travelled to Peterborough bringing home a solid point in a 3-3 tie game.  With Daniel Yeo was solid in the net for the Devils.  Goals were scored by, Nate Rashotte, Cameron Shaw and Brayden Davidson. Assists came from Chase Cybulski, MacLean Chisholm and Paxton Erskine

Sunday February 18th the Devils hosted game two and stole 2 points from the Petes with a 3-1 at home win.  In the first period, Jonas McCoy scored an unassisted goal. In the second period, MacLean Chisholm scored, assisted by Seth Scaletta. In the third period, Nate Rashotte scored with assists from Joseph Nieman and Seth Scaletta. Charlie Vos had a stellar performance between the pipes.

On Deck: Game 3 will be played at 6:30 on Thursday Feb 22 in Peterborough.

 

Madison Excavating Minor Peewee
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees started the first round of OMHA Playdowns with 2 solid wins over the Oshawa Generals this past weekend.

Game 1 had the Devils play host to the Generals at the QSWC on Saturday afternoon. It would be the Devils who would open the scoring in the first period as Liam Philip would take the shot on the set up from Beckett Ewart. The second would see Quinte add to their lead in the game as Ty Therrien and Ewart would add one each.  Assisting in the second were Landon Wright, Carson Campbell, Braedyn Rogers and Philip. The last set would remain scoreless for both teams and Mike McIvor would record the shut out in net for the Devils.

Sunday had the Devils on the road to the Legends Centre in Oshawa for game 2. Once again it was the Devils on the scoreboard first with a shot from the point by Ben Danford, assisted by Wright. The second period was all Quinte as they poured on the offense, scoring 3 goals in the set to give them a 4-0 lead going into the third. Scoring in the second were Jared Langdon, Wright and Thomas Kuipers. Assisting were Philip, Langdon, Gage Butcher and Rylan Reid. The third would see the Generals score their only goal of the game as the Devils went on the add another 3 to the board in their favour for a 7-1 final. Goals in the third came from Langdon(2) and Philip. Assists from Danford(2), Wright, Brody Partridge and Rogers. Dean Spry was strong between the pipes for Quinte.

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees will host the Generals again at QSWC on Wednesday as they hope to close the series.
