Quinte Red Devils Weekly Report: Dec 30- Jan 5 2020
Here is the first QRD Weekly Report for 2020...

McInroy Maines Construction- Major Midget (U18)
The Quinte McInroy-Maines Midget Red Devils picked up a 2-2 tie against the Markham Waxers in their only game this week.

Nate Burelle and Beckett Palmer-Stephen scored for the Red Devils while Kyle McMechan, Zack Brooks, Cayde Culhane and Lucas Culhane picked up assists.

Ethan Fraser was great between the pipes for the Devils.

Bonn Law- Major Bantam (U15)
The Bonn Law Major Bantams have had an action packed couple weeks over the holidays. Since last report, they have posted an additional 6 points in league play taking their record to 24-2-3 with wins over Richmond Hill Coyotes (2) and North Central Predators. They remain on top of the Bantam division and hope to have continued success as they move into the latter part of the regular season and prepare for playoffs.

The team went 5-1 in the Marlies Holiday Classic tournament with their only loss coming in the quarter finals against York Simcoe Express.  YSE was able to tie the game with 12 seconds remaining in the third and went on to score the OT winner with 33 seconds left in the 4th round of 3 on 3 overtime.

The Bonn Law Bantams look for redemption as they face York Simcoe Express on home ice this coming weekend. Action gets underway Sunday, January 12th at 130 at CAA.

Foley Bus Lines- Minor Midget (U16)
In ETA action the first weekend of 2020 the Foley Bus Lines Minor Midgets succeeded in clinching a first round playoff bye by picking up four of a possible six points. This past Thursday, the Whitby Wildcats came to town and a full but under the weather Devils lineup managed to take a one goal lead into the third before adding an insurance marker to close out the game with a 3-1 victory.

Saturday, the Black jerseys saw action on the road in Markham to take on the Waxers. The QRD’s did not score first in this one but worked their way into a two goal lead by the third period before squandering that same lead by giving up three goals late in the period and ultimately dropping the contest by a 5-4 score.

Looking to bounce back quickly from Saturday’s set back, the Devils took their game on the road again for a Sunday afternoon matchup in Clarington with the Toros. Fortunately, the boys were able to catch Canada’s Gold medal triumph in the lobby of the rink as they prepared for their 5:15 start. Maybe the Gold help inspire the boys as they came out strong scoring in the first minute of the game and built up a four goal lead by the end of second flood. They shut down the Toros in the third and took home the two points with a 4-0 win and secured that first round bye that they were looking for. Next Action…..With only five league games left, the 04’s now set their sights on trying to lock down the first seed in the division as they host the York-Simcoe Express at the Mackay this Saturday at 3:30pm. The Devils travel to Lindsay for a late 6:30pm Sunday start versus the Central Ontario Wolves.

World Elite Training- Major Atom (U11)
Just one game on the schedule for the World Elite Training Atoms.  Saturday, the team faced off against the Barrie Colts.

The game was scoreless after the first period.  Barrie got on the board first, but Quinte fired back with a goal from Ryan Foley. Late in the second period, Camden Sloan scored a short handed goal to put Quinte ahead 2-1.  Quinte wins 2-1, Lily Reid got the win in net.

Up next, Quinte continues their road trip when they face the Clarington Toros and Ajax-Pickering Raiders.  They finish the week with a home game vs. the Predators. The teams hopes to continue their winning streak and bring home another 6 points.  Go Devils Go!

Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Peewee (U12)
A weekend on the road, the Minor Peewees made their presence known in Rama, as they faced the North Central Predators on Saturday. However, in a suspenseful match, the game remained scoreless until the second period when Kolby Craig (assisted by Kaden Koutroulides and Jacob Moore) was the first to mark the scoreboard. Only minutes later, the home team followed suit, ending the 2nd period in a 1-1 tie and leaving only the final frame for business to be done. The pattern continued, Quinte's Koutroulides (Ryland Cunningham and Carson Lynch) and the home team tied it up. Getting down the end, Quinte took control and secured their victory scoring two goals in last minute of game; both unassisted by Cunningham! Goalie for the game, Karate Brant and the Minor Peewees, came home with a 4-2 victory against the Predators.

Motivated by team Canada and hitting the ice in the midst of the gold medal game, the Minor Peewees were excited for a Minor Peewee and Canada, double-victory on Sunday afternoon. Opening up the scoring was Riley Reid (Noah Lesser and Koutroulides), followed quickly by a marker from the home team. The Devils then responded, with two more first period goals, from Owen Rivers (Cunningham and Koutroulides) and Cunningham (Jack Foley and Ryan Babbs). The Devils, increasing their lead by two, saw Cunningham and Reid both got their second of the game. Assists to Koutroulides, Cooper Kelly, Tavin MacDonald and Foley. It was a 5-1 win for the Devils! In net for the victory was Cohen Bedore!

Great work boys, two games, two victories! Next up: The Minor Peewees host the Peterborough Petes, Thursday, January 9th at 7pm (QSWC) and the Barrie Colts on Saturday at 2pm (QSWC), before heading to Richmond Hill on Sunday.

Madison Excavating- Minor Bantam (U14)
The Madison Excavating Minor Bantams had a busy holiday season as they headed to Toronto for the Marlies Holiday Classic.

The team played well going 3/1/0 in round robin play securing them a spot in the quarter finals on Sunday afternoon. The match up had the Devils on the run and they were unable to move on to the semis.
This past weekend had the Devils take to the road to Rama to face the Predators in regular season play. Unfortunately the Devils came up short and succumbed to a 2-1 loss. Mike McIvor was in net. Brody Partridge scores the lone goal on the set up from Beckett Ewart.
