A Win and Two Ties for the Madison Excavating U11 Red Devils this Week
A midweek match-up saw the Madison Excavating Quinte Red Devils U11s host the Clarington Toros at the CAA arena on Wednesday night. Unbeknownst to the Devils at the time, but Kade Osterhout would score the game winning goal six and a half minutes into the first period. The score remained 1-0 throughout the remainder of the first period and carried through to the end of the second period, despite some penalty trouble. QRD added an insurance marker with just over three minutes left in the game, when Coulter Watson found the back of the net, giving QRD a 2-0 victory. In net, Ben Larmer was a wall, earning his first shutout of the season.
With less than a week having passed since the Madison Excavating Quinte Red Devils U11s travelled to Markham to take on the Waxers, they would then host them on home ice in Marmora on Saturday. The Devils brought their A-game and put forth a stellar performance. The Waxers scored early in the first period, but their victory was short-lived when Everett Brown blasted the puck past their goalie just over a minute later. The second period would see many shots on net from both sides, but no goals for either team. In the third period, the Waxers would score midway through, and once again QRD answered, when Dylan Chalk found the back of the net forty-three seconds later. The Waxers thought they could make a comeback with a third goal, but much like the rest of the game, QRD responded. A goal from Kade Whelan tied the game at three, with only one minute left. The score would remain unchanged for the final minute, resulting in a 3-3 tie. Between the pipes, Hayden Tripp made some great saves to help secure the tie.
In the only road game this week for the Madison Excavating Quinte Red Devils U11s, they would see similar results as the day prior. The Generals got on the board early, scoring just three minutes in, however, QRD answered just thirty seconds later, when Dylan Chalk scored a powerplay marker to tie the game at one. The second period started off on a positive note for QRD, when Kade Whelan buried a shot from the slot after a great feed from Everett Brown. The goal went unanswered for over six minutes, when the Generals managed to squeak two goals in before the period was over, both on a powerplay. The Devils came out flying in the third period, and Chalk would score his second goal of the game just thirty-two seconds in, to tie things up. The remaining fourteen minutes and twenty-eight seconds of the game were heated and tense, yet neither side could score, and the game ended with the 3-3 tie. Ben Larmer was skillful between the pipes, keeping the game close throughout.

ON DECK: The Madison Excavating Quinte Red Devils U11s will host the Peterborough Petes on Tuesday night in Madoc. This game will make-up for a game that was postponed due to weather on November 19th.

U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils Beat the Jr. Gaels and Compete in the Silver Stick Tournament
On Tuesday, the U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils travelled to Kingston for their first match up against the Jr. Gaels. Although Kingston took the lead early, Reece Herman stood strong between the pipes and the Red Devils fought back, coming out on top with a 4-2 win. Goals scored by Avery Wease (2), Ben Sherwin and Liam Campbell (AP).
Over the weekend, the Red Devils participated in the Silver Stick Tournament in Whitby. They started the tournament with a close game against the Brantford 99ers. Herman did a great job protecting the pipes but the 99ers took the two points with a 2-1 win over the Red Devils. Sherwin scored Quinte’s lone goal. The second game on Friday was against the Peterborough Petes. Unfortunately, the Petes took the win, 5-2. Goals were scored by Wease and Deke Osterhout. Herman was in net.
Bright and early Saturday, the Pita Pit Red Devils matched up against the Hamilton Bulldogs. It was a tight game but ended in a 3-1 loss for the Red Devils with the Bulldogs third goal being an empty netter. Liam Boyer was the goalie and Quinte’s goal was scored by Evan Erwin. Next up on Saturday was the Mississauga Rebels. Liam Boyer (in net) and the Red Devils held the Rebels to a 0-0 tie through two periods of play but were not able to hold on for the tie and lost 3-0 ending the tournament for Quinte.
ON DECK: The U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils will be playing two games at the U16 ETA Showcase in Oakville this upcoming weekend. First up, they play the Barrie Colts and then on Sunday, will take on the North Central Predators. Good luck boys!

Two Wins and a Loss for the U15 Free Flow Petroleum Devils this Week
In a midweek matchup, the Free Flow Petroleum Red Devils hosted the Clarington Toros Thursday night at RCAF. Scoring in the first was Liam Grant assisted by Rhett Colson and Jake Campbell with Ryan Kinghan and Noah Lesser drawing assists. In the second, Quinte found the back of the net four times. Early in the frame, J. Campbell got his second of the night, unassisted. Less than a minute later, Owen Rivers would hit the net, with Jacob Moore and J. Campbell drawing assists. Nearing the end of the Grant, assisted by Ryan Babbs and Kolby Craig, continued to widen Quinte’s lead. Matthew Airhart, assisted by Jack Foley, would close out the period, scoring the Devil’s final goal of the game with just over two minutes of play remaining in the second. The Toros would get on the scoreboard midway through the third and the match would end 6-1, Otsirakatste Brant picking up the win in net.
In their second home game of the week, the Devils hosted the Ajax Pickering Raiders on Saturday at QSWC. Opening scoring for Quinte was J. Campbell, with Colson drawing the lone assist. Kaden Koutroulides on a pass from Craig, would add an insurance goal for Quinte in the second frame. Ajax answered with a goal of their own and the period ended with Quinte up by one. Both teams were held scoreless in the third until Moore, assisted by J. Campbell would pot an empty net goal for the Devils. Cohen Bedore picked up the 3-1 win in net.
On Sunday, the Red Devils traveled to Aurora to face off against the first placed team in the ETA, the York Simcoe Express. The Devils would get on the scoreboard first with a powerplay goal from Moore, with Foley drawing the lone assist. YSE answered with one of their own. Penalty trouble for the Devils translated into two more goals for their opponent and the second frame would end with the Devils trailing by 2. Neither team could find the net through the third, until Liam Campbell (Airhart and Foley) made a great shot with just over two minutes of play remaining. It was not enough though, and the Devils would fall 3-2 to the Express, Brant taking the loss in net.
ON DECK: The U15 Free Flow Petroleum Devils host the Kingston Junior Gaels on Wednesday, 8:30pm at the QSWC (CAA). On Saturday, the Petes visit the Devils at QSWC for a 12:45pm game on the FDC pad. On Sunday, the U15s are on the road to Barrie to face off against the Jr. Colts.

After the snow was cleared with an 11-day layoff, the Gillespie's Tree Service U13 Quinte Red Devils were back in action.
On Thursday night the visiting Whitby team were just too much for the Red Devils. They broke the Red Devils streak of 8 wins and handed them a 4-1 loss. The lone goal was scored by Lauchlan Whelan with helpers going to Joey Seguin and M. Aird.
On Saturday the U13 team looked to get back on track against the visiting North Central Predators. There was a lot of scoring in this contest with Quinte coming out on top, 9-4. The Predators jumped out to a 2-1 lead but Ryerson Swan shut the door and the offence exploded with Whelan netting his first hat trick of the year followed, Martin, Marion, Dahle, Thompson, B. Aird and Andrew Laurin with singles. Clow, Whelan, B.Aird, Dahle, Martin, Hooey, Seguin, Dewar, Harold and M.Aird added assists.
On Sunday the Red Devils traveled west on the 401 to face the Markham Waxers. The Red Devils hoped to get back-to-back wins and start another winning streak. The Waxers came out tough but the Devils were a determined bunch putting 6 goals by the Markham goalie for a 6-2 victory. Lowry, Thompson, Laurin, Dahle, Seguin and Harold scored for the Red Devils. Assists from Clow, Whelan, Martin, Lowry, Dahle and Seguin. It was a special night for Spencer Harold the former captain of the Northumberland Nighthawks as he scored his first AAA goal. Ryerson Swan got the win in net!
ON DECK: The Red Devils look to win three in a row as they face the Kingston Gaels @ FDC in Belleville at 8:15pm Wednesday night.

The Bonn Law QRD U12 Team battled it out with some of the top teams in North America, this weekend at Silver Stick.
In their first game of the tournament, The Red Devils would face The Vaughan Kings who are the #1 ranked team in Ontario. The Devils missed a couple of chances early in the game and continued to battle hard in a back-and-forth game but could not find the back of the net in a 4-0 loss.
In their second game of the tournament, The Devils would square off against an ETA rival, York Simcoe Express. The Devils were up 2-0 at the end of the first period, on goals by Brody Grant and Miller Nicholson. The Express would not back down and both teams fought hard, exchanging chances in the game. Dax Sage made several key saves in the game, and Shea Teather scored the GWG in a 3-2 win. Assisting on the goals; Gullage (2), Teather, Hughes, Whalen, Grant.
In their second game of the day on Friday, the Red Devils were up against The Midfairfield Rangers, a top team from the United States, who they had lost to just one month ago in Boston. In a fast paced, tight checking game that had fans on the edge of their seats, it was The Devils who struck first, when Noah Hughes buried a pass from Mason Whalen early in the first period. The Rangers would tie the game before the end of the period. Teams exchanged chances in the second and third period, and Matt Travers made several highlight reel saves, giving his team the extra edge they needed, before Austin Pettey scored what would be the eventual game winner at the eight minute mark of the third (assists; Grant and Plummer). The Devils defence went to work, shutting the door on the Rangers and the team killed a penalty late in the third, handing The Rangers their only loss of the weekend by a score of 2-1. The Rangers would eventually go on to become Silver Stick Champions.
In a must win game, Saturday afternoon, against their OMHA rivals from Oakville, the two teams once again proved that they are very evenly matched. This time, it was the Rangers who scored first in the second period, but The Devils would not back down, and Miller Nicholson evened the score on a beauty pass from Cameron Stevens, with just 21 seconds left in the second. Dax Sage came up big once again for his team, and the Devils handed them everything they could handle, but just couldn’t buy the go-ahead goal and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The coaching staff are exceptionally pleased with the hard work and sportsmanship shown by their team over the weekend. The players have gained some very valuable experience, playing against some of the top teams in North America, and looking forward to taking this back in to their league play.
ON DECK: The Bonn Law U12 team will travel to Bolton on Friday for 2 exhibition games vs a very good team from Elgin Middlesex. The team is looking forward to a practice Saturday, followed by a team Christmas dinner and celebration.

The Foley Bus Lines U10 Red Devils had a good run in Whitby at The International Silver Stick tournament playing against some of North America's top teams but eventually losing in the Quarter Finals.
In their first game of the tournament on Thursday afternoon, the Foley Bus Lines U10s faced off against the York Simcoe Express. Quinte would come out strong and skate to an 8-1 win. Red Devil goals were scored by Ethan Dowling (2), Kash Nelson, Max Norton, Noah Gilchrist, Matt Dawson, Will Beebe and Graydon Tucker. Picking up assists were Gilchrist (2), Norton (2), Nelson (2), Malkin Courtney (2), Dowling, Beebe, Dawson, Ryker Thompson and Jaxon Elrick. Blake Laurin was solid in net, picking up the win. Ryker Thompson was named Player of the game.
Friday morning Quinte would take on the Cumberland Jr. Grads and picked up their second win of the tournament with a 5-1 win. Goals were scored by Evan Andrews (2), Ethan Dowling, Max Norton and Will Beebe. Assists in the game went to Kash Nelson (3), Andrews, Beebe and Noah Gilchrist. Lily Groeneveld had a great game picking up the win between the pipes and Jaxon Elrick was named player of the game.
Friday afternoon they would take on a strong Boston Minuteman Flames team. Quinte had a great all-around game and would come out on top 4-2. Max Norton would score all four of Quinte’s goals. Assists went to Noah Gilchrist (2) and Matt Dawson. Blake Laurin was once again solid in net and Max Norton was named player of the game.
Saturday afternoon they played their last round robin game against another strong team from the States, the Pittsburgh Jr Penguins. It was a thrilling game with Quinte coming out on top 4-2 (empty net). Evan Andrews and Matt Dawson each had two goals in the game. Assists went to Andrews, Kash Nelson and Ethan Dowling. Lily Groeneveld made some highlight reel saves getting the win in net and was also named player of the game.
After going 4-0 in round robin play, they would play in Sunday morning’s quarter finals against the Middlesex Islanders out of Massachusetts. It was another exciting game but Quinte came out on the losing end of a 4-2 score (empty net) ending their tournament. Kash Nelson and Matt Dawson would score in the game and Graydon Tucker picked up an assist. Blake Laurin played a solid game in net but picked up the loss.
ON DECK: The Foley Bus Lines U10 Red Devils will host the Mississauga Reps for two exhibition games on Saturday. Both games are at the Quinte SWC (Mackay) at 11:30am and 4:30pm. On Sunday they play Kingston at 1:30pm at the QSWC (CAA).
