Major Midget, the Premier Place to Develop
The Quinte Red Devils McInroy Mainies Major Midgets are 8-2-1 in league play to start the regular season.

With 4 OHL draft picks and several high end undrafted prospects the QRD Major Midget Program is proving to be a development situation that players are thriving off of no matter what their goals and objectives are to continue their hockey careers. Education, rest management, community involvement and personal development are all characteristics of the program that each and every player adheres to when they commit to the McInroy Maines Major Midget Red Devils.

Second year goaltender, Sean Storr feels that the program offers a place to develop at your own pace;

" As a goaltender, I know first hand that it takes time and patience to develop you game. Major Midget hockey has given me the opportunity to play at a high level while providing the supportive environment necessary to excel."

Sean's ultimate goal is to combine his scholastic goals and hockey goals in either the CIS or NCAA.

It is that same model that intised Oshawa Generals draft choice Shelby Rienstra (forward) to join the program, Allan Rienstra feels that the program offers a place to develop your skill and create confidence;

"For Shelby, coming back to Major Midget gives him lots of puck touches, confidence and the opportunity to play in situations when the game is on the line. Irreplaceable."

Colin Vandenhurk (Kingston Frontenacs), and Mack Warren (Owen Sound Attack) chose to play Major Midget because of the competitive environment and professional atmosphere the program offers. As young defencemen this is imperative for development.

Vandenhurk says its all about confidence;

" It's really helped me gain confidence because of the ice time I'm getting a chance to work on all areas of my game."

Mack Warren noted the team environment the program holds;

"I think everyone on our team wants to improve, and wants to win a championship."

The Devils follow an off-ice training regimate by Jack Jarrell, which builds fitness and encourages team building.

As the season moves forward continuous perfection of structure and skills will be enforced by the coaching staff.

Just one game on the docket this week as the Devils host the Markham Waxers at the Yardman Arena for a 7:00 start.
