The McInroy Maines Quinte Red Devils Major Midgets will make the Deseronto Community Centre their home this season, practicing twice a week and playing home games out of the recently renovated facility.
The Devils have come to an agreement with the Town of Deseronto to rent the dressing room/storage facilities at the back of the building that has been used in the past by local Junior Clubs. Having a rink and a dressing room to call their own is a huge step for the program.
"We want to run a first class Major Midget AAA Program, and a big step in doing that is having a consistent facility and having a space that the players can take ownership of and call their own" says Head Coach Ben Hagerman.
The Devils will play the majority of their home games at 2:00pm Saturday afternoons at the DCC, where admission is always free. "We hope to get lots of support from the community giving the boys good crowds to play in front of as we have done our best to not conflict with nearby Junior home nights" added Hagerman.
If you reside on the west end of the Quinte zone, don't worry as the Devils will have some practice and game times at other rinks throughout the season. Hagerman granted, "We will have to use other facilities to add in practice and game slots from time to time."
We are now under one month until the start of training camp where with on-ice sessions, fitness testing and pre-season games will keep QRD hopefuls busy for the better part of two weeks.
