Weekly Report Sept. 18-24
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees were on the road again this weekend taking on the Whitby Wildcats on Saturday and the Coyotes in Richmond Hill on Sunday.
The Devils met the Wildcats on the ice at the McKinney arena on Saturday in what would be a game of back and forth play. The first period would end in a 0-0 tie but it would be Whitby to strike first early in the second. The Devils battled hard and in the last minutes of play in the third, it was Ty Therrien who found the back of the Whitby net to tie the game. Mike McIvor stood tall in the net for Quinte and would help see the Devils take a point with a 1-1 final.
Sunday, the Devils travelled to Richmond Hill to face the Coyotes. Once again Quinte faced a scoreless first period with back and forth play in both ends. It was not until the third period when it was the Devils who hit the scoreboard first on an unassisted goal from Brody Partridge. The Coyotes managed to sneak one by net minder Dean Spry but that would be there only one, as it was Partridge again to take the go ahead goal on the set up from Ben Danford. The Devils held on for the 2-1 win, going home with another 2 points in league play.
On deck this week, the Devils will travel to Kingston to face the Fronts at 7pm on Wednesday at the Invista Centre.
