Minor Midget Weekly Report Jan 21-27
It was a busy weekend for the Minor Midget Free Flow Petroleum who played three game in three days to wrap up the regular season with a second place finish.
Friday the team travelled to Clarington to play the Toros. Daniel Michaud potted the first goal for Quinte with assists to Nathaniel Burelle and Brady Darrach. Toros scored their one and only goal in the second to tie up the game but Zach Brooks scored the game winner with Cole Lavender and Burelle picking up the assists. Final score was a 2-1 win for the boys with Alex Lucas in net.
The team was back at it again Saturday afternoon with a home game against COW. The game was only 20 seconds in when Michaud scored the first goal of the the game with an assist recored by Zack Brooks. Next, Jett Butler saw the back of the net with helpers from Ben White and Erik MacNiel. Luke LaPalm scored in the last minute of play in the first and then again in the second with assists from Zack Brooks(2) , Hunter Hall, Michaud. Ben White found the back of the net in the third with assists to Connor Brooks and Michaud. Ethan Fraser recorded the win in net with a final score of 5-2 QRD.
The Devils travelled to Peterborough on Sunday to play the final game of the regular season against the Petes and picked up another 2 points. Zack Brooks registered a hat trick, while Ethan Broek scored short handed. Michaud also picked up a goal. Helpers came from, LaPalm (3), Hall and Burelle and Broek. Final score was 5-1 Quinte with Alex Lucas between the pipes.
Quinte finished their season 2nd overall in the east with a 20-13-3 record and 42 points. Playoffs begin on Tuesday at 7pm in Napanee at the Strathcona Centre. They will face the Peterborough Petes in the first series.
