In an always tight matchup,
the Devils travelled down the 401 to take on rival Ajax/Pickering Raiders this
past Saturday. The Devils found themselves down early with a power play goal
against. The locals slowly started to out play the Raiders as the game wore on
until a disallowed QRD goal in the third seemed to tip the scales in favour of
the QRD’s.
Shortly after that goal was called back, the Devils banged two over the line in a 20 second span to take and hold the lead to the end for the 2-1 win. The Minor Midgets opened their home schedule with a Sunday afternoon contest versus the Richmond Hill Coyotes at CAA. The game started much like Saturday in that a 1-0 deficit early from a power play marker for the visitors. The boys didn’t disappoint the home town crowd as they quickly got things together and went on to take a 4-2 first period lead until finding the twine three more times in the third before closing out the 7-2 triumph. Next action…Two home games this week with an always highly anticipated matchup with the Kingston Jr Gaels Thursday night at the Mackay pad @ 8:30pm and a Sunday matinee to follow with the always tough Whitby Wildcats at CAA pad @ 1:30pm.
