After ending the Calendar year with a 4-3 victory over the
Kingston Jr. Gaels, the Stampkrete QRD U12’s continued their winning ways
earning a 6-1 win over the York-Simcoe Express this past Sunday.
With 2 members on the team out of the lineup due to Covid-19 protocol, the team pulled together to start the New Year off with a win. Moving up to forward for the game, Maeve Aird started the scoring for QRD, tipping a point shot from her brother, Brechyn Aird. The 1 goal lead held off to the 2nd, before QRD found their legs. Lauchlan Whelan scored from a nice pass from Dawson Chalk to put QRD up 2-0. YSE would answer quickly with one of their own, making it 2-1 before Trent Clow scored on a nice setup from Coen Lowry and Drew Wright. Chalk would add another from B. Aird before the period would end, giving QRD a 4-1 lead heading into the final frame. Ewan Dahle, from Joey Seguin and Easton Thompson, would add to the lead before Seguin (assisted by Thompson and M. Aird) scored to give Quinte the 6-1 victory. Ryerson Swan got the win in goal, making some timely saves to continue his hot start to the season!
