Gillespies Tree Service QRD U13’s Weekly Report - Dec 19 2022
It has been a busy month for the Gillespie's Tree Service QRD U 13 Hockey team. The last three games before Christmas were important but doing our part within the community for the Three Oaks Women's Shelter has been the big focus for our families over the last few weeks.
QRD started the week with an 8-3 win over the Kingston Gaels on Wednesday night which was a full squad effort. On Saturday they handed the visiting Ajax Raiders team an 8-1 loss with Joey Seguin pulling off a 5 goal performance with the support of his teammates. Sunday we rolled into Oshawa and managed to bring home a tight 1-0 win over the Generals with Ryerson Swan getting the shutout in net. This brings the teams record to 17-3-2.
There has been a lot going on for us in the last thirty days coach Durant remarked, "We report every week on our team, who scores and who gets the win in net but I feel strongly about building a team first culture. Our focus is always on the ice but off the ice at Christmas, we can have a big impact on families in need too". Alison Wright and Shannon Martin along with the rest of the moms in our group have stepped up and collected toys, clothing and personal items for the residents of Three Oaks Women Shelter. " The families on our team are simply amazing. The players have really embraced helping other children and as a team we really came together and made a difference for these people in need. I am very proud of what we have accomplished on and off the ice this holiday season."
The U13's return to action against Whitby the first week back in the early new year. The QRD U13 would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
