Gillespies Tree Service QRD U13’s Weekly Report - Jan 16, 2023
A league game and a tournament were on the calendar for our squad this week!
On Wednesday Jan 11th the QRD Gillespie's Tree Service U13 team headed down the highway to take on Clarington. It was the second of the three game yearly series. Nathan Ferris got the start. Last time in Clarington, Ferris notched his first shutout of the season. Ferris didn't disappoint as he shutout Clarington for the second time this season 3-0. Ewan Dale opened the scoring for the Red Devils and Coen Lowry and Joey Seguin added some insurance for the win. Thompson, Whelan, B. Aird and Lowry added assists.
Next up, the Taylor Hall Classic tourney in Kingston. This past weekend the team traveled to the great town of Kingston for the Taylor Hall Classic. The round robin games found the team finishing with a 1-1-2 finish. With a 2-0 loss to Oshawa, 7-1 vs Upper Canada Cyclones, 2-2 tie with the Waxers and a 1-1 tie versus the home Kingston Gaels team. Coach Durant chalked the tournament up to a play and learn experience. "We are always telling our players, you have to come and compete every game. We have been consistent all year long until now. It's time for us to regroup, reflect and refocus. This is no time for us to feel sorry for ourselves. We just need to do a better job in all areas." That was our last tournament for the season.
We have 11 regular season games left. This week on tap, we face Richmond Hill, Whitby, Oshawa and the Pete's.
