QRD U18 Weekly Report Nov. 7
The McInroy Maines U18 Quinte Red Devils competed 3 tough battles in league games this week, taking home a tie, a loss and a win.

Tuesday was a midweek match up in Kingston to face the Gaels at the Invista centre. After a back and forth effort, the first period would end with a 1-1 split. Quinte's first goal of the game came from Gage Butcher, assisted by Luke Jarmin and Thomas Kuipers. The second set would see the Devils down by a goal before heading into the third and final period of the game. Second period goal from Ben Vreugdenhil, assisted by Kuipers and Thomas Elkins. It was Wyatt Gregory who would come up strong with the tying goal in the third on the set up from Jared Woolley and Trent Williams. The Devils were not able to get the go ahead go and would settle for the 3-3 split. Dean Spry was in net for the tie.

The Devils were at home to host the Ajax-Pickering Raiders on Thursday at the QSWC. The Raiders were first on the scoreboard leaving the Devils down by two going into the second. The second period saw Quinte come back from the deficit and score 3 in the set. Beau Reade got the offence started, assisted by Cooper Kellar and Rylan Reid. Two more goals were added to the board in the second. Butcher, assisted by Woolley and Kellar and Keenan Wiles on the set up from Deacon Ellis. Going into the third with a 3-3 tie it was a tough battle between the two teams. The Raiders would slide one past the Devils netminder to take the lead and leaving the Devils fighting to tie it back up. An empty netter with .05 seconds left in the game would seal the loss of 3-5 for the Quinte crew. Spry again battled in net for Quinte.

Saturday had the U18s on the road to once again face the Barrie Colts for the third time of the season. Hoping to recover from the previous loss to the Colts, the Devils wasted no time taking the lead in the first with goals from Butcher and Williams. Assisting in the first were Kellar and Kuipers. The second period was dominated by the Devils as they tallied up 5 goals to take a strong lead in the game. Scoring in the second were Reade, Williams, Justin Murdoch(2) and Wiles. Assists came from Ty McCambridge, Gregory and Woolley). In a physical third period, Vreugdenhil would add the only goal of the set, assisted by Kuipers to make it a 8-2 final win for the Devils. Spry was strong between the pipes for Quinte.

On Deck: The McInroy Maines U18 Red Devils will be back in action this upcoming Saturday as they host the York Simcoe Express at the Mackay rink at QSWC 6pm.
