QRD U18 Weekly Report Dec. 19, 2022
The McInroy Maines U18 team had two games in the schedule this week and secured another 3 points to their standings with a win and a tie.
Saturday had the Devils playing host to the Richmond Hill Coyotes the QSWC. The Coyotes came out strong and scored an early first period game but it would be their one and only goal of the game as Quinte recouped and tied the game in the second. First goal of the game came from Gage Butcher on the set up from Deacon Ellis and Beau Reade. Securing the victory, the Devils went on to score 3 unanswered goals in the third to make it a 4-1 final. Goals in the third came from Thomas Kuiprers with 2 and Beau Reade with the empty netter. Assisting in the third were Ty McCambridge, Wyatt Gregory and Ben Vreugdenhil. Glen McInnes was between the pipes for the win.
Sunday had the U18s on the road to Markham to face the Waxers in what would be a physical battle between the two teams. Battling through the grind of the Waxers first period, the Devils came out on top after the set with a 1-0 lead. Joey Coates scored for the Devils on the pass from Jared Woolley and Cooper Kellar. The second would see the scoreboard tied and then once again see Quinte take the lead with another shot from Coates assisted by Woolley. Fighting through inconsistency and many minutes of short-handed play, the Devils would in the end have to settle for tie. Kuipers scored the lone goal of the third, assisted by Vreugdenhil for a 3-3 final. Dean Spry was in net for the tie.
On Deck: The McInroy Maines U18 Quinte Red Devils will play their final game before the holiday break on Thursday night at the QSWC as they play host to the Ajax Pickering Raiders.
