QRD U18 Weekly Report Feb. 27, 2023
The McInroy Maines U18 competed in the next two games of their playoff run this past weekend as they played host to the York Simcoe Express and travelled to Oshawa on Sunday to take on the Generals.

Saturday's game hosted at QSWC would see the Devils play to a scoreless first and then take a 3-0 lead in the game with goals from Joey Coates, Thomas Kuipers and Carter McKee in the second and early minutes of the third. Assists came from Cooper Kellar, Liam Storms and Jared Woolley. After a lapse in the game, the Devils found themselves in a tie game late in the third. Coates came up strong again for the team with a GWG on the set up from McKee and Woolley. Dean Spry was in net for the win.

On the road to Oshawa on Sunday, the Devils were in for a back and forth battle with a tough Generals team. Another scoreless first led the Devils to hit the scoreboard first in the game with a goal from Trent Williams on the set up from McKee. Minutes later the score was tied 1-1 and then tied again at 2-2 by the end of the second with a tying goal from Keenan Wiles assisted by Kuipers. A goal late in the game from Beau Reade, assisted by Gage Butcher and Justin Murdoch would leave the Devils a goal shy of extra time and were forced to take the 3-4 loss. Glen McInnes was between the pipes for the loss.

On Deck: The McInroy Maines u18 Quinte Red Devils will take to the road to face the Richmond Hill Coyotes for the second time in the playoff round.
