It was Kingston who scored first, but the Devils came right back and scored three before the end on the first period and another early in the second. The Fronts fought back and tied the game at five, but the Devils were too much for them to handle as they scored to win the game with three minutes left. Vanderlaan Building Products - Peewees
The Vanderlaan Building Products Peewees finished up their exhibition schedule on Wednesday September 16 with a solid 3-2 win over the Peterborough Petes. The Petes opened up the scoring with 3:23 left in the first. The teams battled hard through the second period and with 5 minutes remaining in the period Lucas Culhane stuffed one in past the Petes goalie. Brock Kelsh assisted. Less than a minute later Daniel Michaud fed Nate Burelle a beautiful pass and Burelle ripped it past the Petes netminder. Part way through the third the Petes tied up the game but perseverance paid off and Ben White sniped one with assists going to Alex Case and Aiden Treverton. Ethan Fraser was solid between the pipes.
The boys opened up their regular season with a well attended home opener versus the Richmond Hill Coyotes.

The Coyotes came out strong and meant business. The Coyotes opened up the scoring just 12 seconds into the game. Nate Burelle tied up the game at the 13 minute mark with an unassisted goal. After a back and forth battle the final buzzer sounded with a 1-1 tie. Dixon Grime got the win in the net.

Next weekend the boys travel to the West to take on the North Central Predators and the Barrie Colts.

CrossFit Belleville- Bantams

The CrossFit Bantams played a solid defence first game in the opening period as they put #TeamFirst into action as they hosted the Central Ontario Wolves in the season home opener.

Brennan Bush stopped every shot he faced to open the season with a shut-out, but it was a solid defensive effort that allowed Brennan to make the first save and the strong defensive efforts of Cardin Guerin, Keegan Hunt and Zach Uens cleared away the few rebounds there were. While Derek Vos, Conner Kennedy and Cameron Supryka moved the puck and out of the zone just like it was drawn up during practices.

At the end of the first the Red Devils were up 1-0. With the players following the game plan they managed to increase their lead at the end of the second period to 4-0. The CrossFit Bantams didn’t stop there as they kept to the coach’s game plan and out worked, out hustled and out talented the Central Ontario Wolves to a 9-0 rout.

The CrossFit Bantams continued playing the coach’s game plan and out-worked, out-hustled and out-talented the visiting Ajax Raiders and built up a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Then in 33 seconds , the 2-0 lead had evaporated. Suddenly the work ethic and coach’s game plan had vanished and so too did lead as Ajax took that 4 minutes later.

The Red Devils would push back a little bit and tied the game and seemed to be content with their efforts. As previously noted and it’s not a typo, the team had once again had given up two quick goals but this time it was in half the time as Ajax tallied two goals in 17 seconds to take over the game. The Red Devils would pull Ethan Taylor with 1:56 remaining to try to get within one but it was Ajax who ended up getting the goal and took the game 6-3.

The next game for the CrossFit Bantams will be in Stouffville Saturday @ 9:15pm (Markham Waxers) and then in Lindsay @ 4:30pm (Central Ontario Wolves).

KKP (Kwik Kopy Printing) - Minor Midget
It was a back and forth battle in which we saw all four goaltenders taking their turn but it was the KKP Minor Midgets that came out with there first 2 points of the season in a home opener win over the Petes of Peterborough.

In a game that featured 11 goals between the two teams it was the strength of Quinte's four goal second that was the difference in the game. The teams traded goals until the early goings of the second when Patrick Shearer, coach, tried to force the momentum in the opposite direction after the third goal by the Petes. This strategic exchange of net-minders paid off with a goal coming for the home side less than a minute later. The Devils went on to add 4 more unanswered goals and take this game only allowing one more goal by the Petes mid-third.

On fire for the Devils was Nate Boomhower with a hat-trick. Matty Sherwin had two goals and Nate Dunkley led the team with assists with a tally of 3 for the game. Adding single goals were Madoka Suzuki and Hunter Leonard with two assists going to Matt Poole and single assists chipped in by Leonard, Suzuki, Sherwin, Warren, Grills and Roy.

It was a physical affair but the Devils #TeamFirst game plan saw them rebound from adversity and come out with their first win in their first game of the season! Follow the game action on Twitter @MMidgetDevils or here at quintedevils.com.

Next week the young Gentlemen Devils travel to the Legends Arena in Oshawa to take on the Minor Generals this Saturday at 7:15!
