Quinte Red Devils Weekly Report – Sunday October 19, 2015

CrossFit Belleville - Bantam
The CrossFit Belleville Bantam Red Devils travelled on Saturday to play the York-Simcoe Express in a matchup of two of the elite teams in the East and West Divisions of the ETA. The Red Devils scored first within the opening seconds and led the game until early in the third period. Brennan Bush played very well in net when he was called upon and stopped all but two shots. The York Simcoe Express took the lead in the third as the CrossFit Belleville Bantams let their defensive game slack momentarily and it cost them an eventual point. The Red Devils would tie the game up late in the third and salvaged a tie.

Next up for the CrossFit Belleville Bantams will be the Whitby Wildcats on Wednesday before travelling to the STX Shootout in South Bend Indiana as they will play four teams ranked in the top 10 in the USA during the round robin play.  Next home action for the team will be Thursday October 29th as the play host to the Peterborough Petes at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Center at 8:15pm.

Madison Excavating - Minor Atom
The Madison Excavating Minor Atom team traveled to the Elgin Barrow Arena this past Saturday to face the Richmond Hill Coyotes. The Coyotes caught the Devils off guard with an early goal in the first but the determined Red Devils wasted no time, regrouped and tied up the score with a goal from Gage Butcher, assisted by Kirk Stevenson. ‎Just into the second Jared Langdon gave the Devils the 2-1 lead with an unassisted‎ beauty. After the Coyotes evened it up, Ryland Murray took the opportunity to reclaim the lead making it 3-2 Devils in the second. Assist going to Landon Wright. The third period was a tight back and forth game that saw the Coyotes manage to tie the game again. Glen McInnes held strong between the pipes and the game ended in a 3-3 tie.

Sunday, the Madison Excavating Devils played host to the Peterborough Petes at RCAF. ‎The Devils dominated the game beginning to end with a win of 10 - 0 over the Petes. Dean Spry recorded the shut-out. Goals went to Thomas Kuipers, Ryland Murray, Gage Butcher (3), Brody Partridge, Landon Wright, Liam Philip, Nolan Donnelly and Jared Langdon. Assists for the Devils came from Deacon Ellis (3), Braedyn Rogers, Partridge (3), Langdon (3), Donnelly, Isaac Krentz, Philip and Kirk Stevenson (2). The Madison Excavating Minor Atoms travel to Whitby on Saturday, October 24th to face the Wildcats and are back home at RCAF on Sunday, October 25th to host the Barrie Colts at 3pm.

Bonn Law  - Atom
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Major atom team put together two strong games this weekend against the top team from each division. On Saturday, the Devils travelled to Aurora where they played the talented York Simcoe Express at the impressive St. Andrew’s College facility. The Express got on the board first and added a power play goal shortly after to take a two goal lead. The Devils were determined to get back in the game, and Joey Coates scored before the end of the first period to bring his team back within a goal. Nick Oke assisted on the goal. The Express added a goal in the second period to take back the two goal lead. The Devils would not back down, and Ethan Quick and Spencer Cranley both found the back of the net before the end of the period to tie the game at three. Cal Uens picked up a pair of assists, while Duncan Schneider and Christopher Brydges each added a single assist. The Express scored 4 unanswered goals in the third period, but despite the score the Devils were in the game until the end. Jacob Brown was in net for the Devils. On Sunday, the Red Devils were home to their Eastern division rival Whitby Wildcats. The teams skated hard and exchanged chances in the first, but Tucker McKichan shut the door on the Wild Cats. The Devils Tyson Carr buried a hard point shot on the power play to give the team the lead with four minutes left in the second period. Ben Danford picked up the assist on the goal. Jack Dever added another power play goal early in the third period and the Devils were up by two, but the speedy Wild Cats answered back shortly after, with a power play goal of their own. McKichan looked sharp between the pipes and the Red Devils carried to momentum for most of the period, but with just 15.7 seconds left in the game the Wild Cats scored a goal to tie the game and The Devils skated away with a single point. The Devils are back in action next Sunday @ 4:00 pm in Napanee when they host the Oshawa Generals.

Free Flow Petroleum - Minor Bantam
On October 17, 2015, the QRD Free Flow Petroleum Minor Bantams finally tasted defeat for the first time this season.  The 5-1 loss came at the hands of the powerhouse York-Simcoe Express, in Aurora.  Gavyn Stevenson scored Quinte’s lone goal, on an assist from Treyton Finch.

 

Stil plagued by injuries, the team travelled to Whitby to face the Wildcats on October 18, 2015.  Down 3-0, the Devils stormed back in the second, but couldn’t equalize despite spending most of the third period hounding the Whitby net.  Whitby claimed the game 4-2 in the end.  Scoring for Quinte were Jacob Vreugdenhil and Stevenson, on assists from Isaac Langdon and Curtis Dicks. 

 

Vanderlaan Building Products - Peewees
The Vanderlaan Building Products Major Peewees took four out of six points this weekend. On Friday night a determined Devils team beat the Peterborough Petes two – one, with goals from Daniel Michaud and Ben White both unassisted. Ethan Fraser was between the pipes for the win.

On Saturday the team dominated with hard work to an eight - three victory over the York Simcoe Express.  With the Red Devils in total control of the third scoring five goals. Aiden Treverton, lead the way scoring three for the hat trick. Other goal scorers Nate Huffman, Brock Kelsh, Ben White (2), Nate Burelle. Assisting on the Devil’s goals were Gilbert (2), Michaud, Treverton, Abrams (2), White (2), Burelle, Kelsh, Eastman, Cassidy. Dixon Grimes picks up the win between the pipes.

Sunday the boys faced the first place team in the West, Richmond Hill Coyotes. The Red Devils despite their hard work, could not find the back of the net, resulting in a three – zero loss. Fraser was in the net. The Devils are on the road again this weekend taking on the Central Ontario Wolves Saturday and the Oshawa Minor Generals on Sunday.

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Peewee
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Peewee Red Devils finished the week with a win and a tie in ETA action.  The Bus Liners defeated the Central Ontario Wolves last Wednesday and Tied the York Simcoe Express on Saturday at St. Andrews College.

On Wednesday Oct 14, the Devils hosted the Central Ontario Wolves at the Yardman Arena.  The Devils skated to a 5 to 1 win over the Wolves with Isaac Brown, Trevor Hoskin, Aaron Brown, Connor Hunt and Corbin Roach lighting the lamp.  Assisting on the Devils goals were; Aaron Brown, Kendrick Webster, Isaac Brown, Cooper Matthews, Trevor Hoskin and Phoenix Smith.  Andrew Munro was solid between the Red Devil pipes.

The Foley Bus Lines Red Devils travelled to St. Andrews College on Saturday Oct 17 to take on the York Simcoe Express. In a fast paced game with back and forth action the Devils managed a 4 to 4 tie with the Express.  Scoring for the Devils were; Corbin Roach with a pair, Isaac Brown and Liam Filip.  Assists were provided by Phoenix Smith, Cole Campbell and Donovan McCoy with two.  Corbin Votary was in the Devils net.

Next action for the Devils is this Wednesday Oct 21 with the Devils travelling to Darlington to take on the Clarington Toros in their first match up this season.  Puck drops at 6pm.
