QRD Weekly Report – Sunday November 22, 2015
KKP Minor Midgets pick up 2 wins, Vanderlaan Peewees tie twice, Free Flow Minor Bantams win one and tie one, Foley Minor Peewees win three, and Madison Excavating Minor Atoms work hard for a tie and a loss.

KKP Kwik Kopy Printing - Minor Midgets
Since before the start of the season the KKP Minor Midgets have been working hard. Working at unlearning bad habits from their past and re-learning the benefits of a Team First mentality. With the hard work of practice behind them and a hunger for victory propelling them on, the Devils dispatched the Peterborough Petes in their Wednesday night match-up and made quick work of the visiting North Central Predators Saturday.

(7-1 Win over Peterborough)
After some tough divisional match-ups the Devils sought to keep their compete level high against ETA East rivals Petes. Through a tenacious defensive end, backed back Evan Morrison, the Devils brought a full-frontal attack and tallied 7 goals. Nathan Dunkley had a rare golden sombrero of hockey scoring four goals, with Baker, Sherwin, and Poole each adding singles to the pot. Assists were offered by Dawson Baker (4), Madoka Suzuki, Matthew Poole and Braydon Crowe (2), with singles added by Morrison, Warren, Grills, and Roy. After that solid win the Devils looked forward to a Minor Midget Showcase preview against the ETA West North Central Predators.

(7-3 Win over North Central)

The Preds are always a tough opponent playing hard-nosed, honest hockey. The Devils stayed true to their #TeamFirst motto and the results were nothing short of impressive. Pierce Nelson manned the pipes and secured the W for his team. The offense in this game was led by Madoka Suzuki's 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists. Also scoring for the Devils were Joe Roy (2), and Matt Sherwin, Dawson Baker, and Nathan Dunkley rounding out the score with singles. Assists were graciously provided by Hunter Leonard and Braydon Crowe (2), with singles added by Wheeler, Morrison, Roy, Citrullo and Sherwin. The Devils are riding high entering into the long mid-season. The next game for the Gentlemen Devils is next Saturday November 28th when they play host to the Ajax/Pickering Raiders.

Also coming up for the KKP Minor Midget Quinte Red Devils is the Minor Midget ETA Showcase taking place this December 5-6, 2015 in Orillia.

Vanderlaan Building Products - Major Peewee
The Vanderlaan Building Products Major Peewees played two games this week. They were both tight games, resulting in two ties. Wednesday the Devil’s took on the General’s at the Wellness Center. It ended in a draw with a final of 2-2. Goals coming from Alex Case and Nate Burelle. The helpers from Nate Huffman (2), Carter Cassidy and Ben White. Dixon Grimes was solid in the net.

On Sunday, the Devil’s travelled to Peterbourgh to take on the Pete’s. Second game this week the final ended is a draw, 1-1. Goal coming from Brock Kelsh, assisted by Aiden Treverton, and Nate Huffman. Ethan Fraser was between the pipes. Devils are back in action Friday night at home, taking on the Central Ontario Wolves in Madoc.

Free Flow Petroleum - Minor Bantam
On Saturday, November 21, the Free Flow Petroleum Minor Bantams faced the Markham Waxers.  After a close 2 periods, Quinte turned it on in the 3rd…and cruised to a 5-1 win.  Scoring for Quinte were Gavyn Stevenson (2), Isaac Langdon (2) and Connor MacGregor.  Assists went to Jacob Vreugdenhil, Mack Morrish, Treyton Finch, Langdon (2) and Stevenson. Ethan McDonnell stood tall in net.

 

On Sunday, November 22, the Red Devils tangled with the first-place Central Ontario Wolves.  In a game that saw constant end-to-end action, neither team could better the other, and they settled on a 1-1 draw in the end.  Nick McGowan put in an awesome net-minding performance.  Quinte’s sole goal was awarded to Mack Morrish, and assisted by Adam Thistlethwaite. 

 

A busy week ahead has the crew facing Kingston in a mid-week match, followed by a short trip down the 401 to Whitby, where some of the top teams around will be waiting at the International Silver Stick Tournament.

 

Foley Bus Lines – Minor Peewee
Three wins for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Peewees over the Oshawa Generals, North Central Predators and the Central Ontario Wolves.  The three wins give the Minor Peewee Red Devils another six points in ETA regular season action. 

On Wednesday Nov 18th, the Foley Bus Liners hosted the Oshawa Generals at the Yardman Arena.  The Devils dominated the Generals with seven goals from Owen Gibson, Phoenix Smith, Trevor Hoskin, Aaron Brown, Blake Ellis, Corbin Roach and Kendrick Webster.  Providing the assist for the Devil goals were; Liam Filip, Sami Douglas-Najem with a set, Blake Ellis with a pair, Corbin Roach with a pair, Isaac Brown, Trevor Hoskin, Aaron Brown, and Donovan McCoy.  Andrew Munro was solid in the Devils net allowing only one goal as the Devils defeated the Generals by a score of 7 to 1.  The win over the Generals widened the gap between the Eastern Conference leading Devils and the 2nd place Generals.

The Foley Bus Lines Minor Peewee Red Devils hosted the North Central Predators on Saturday Nov. 21 once again at the Yardman Arena.  The Devils found the back of the Preds net on four occasions as Kendrick Webster scored twice, with Liam Filip and Trevor Hoskin each scoring once.  Providing the helpers for the Devil goals were; Donovan McCoy with two, Cooper Matthews with two, Trevor Hoskin and Sami Douglas-Najem.  Corbin Votary was perfect in the Devils net recording another shut out en route to the Devils 4 to 0 victory.

On Sunday November 22, the Minor Peewee Devils traveled to Little Britain to take on the Central Ontario Wolves.  The Foley Bus Liners met a very hot goaltender in the Wolves net as they had several scoring opportunities but just couldn't reach the back of the net.  The game was scoreless until late in the third period, when Corbin Roach finally scored with under 6 minutes left in the game.  Phoenix Smith and Trevor Hoskin assisted on the lone goal for the Devils.  The Devils hung on for the 1 to 0 win over the Wolves with goaltender; Andrew Munro recording the 2nd shutout for the Devils this week.

Next Action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Peewees is Tuesday night in Oshawa in a rematch against the Generals. Puck Drops at 7pm at the Legends Centre.

Madison Excavating - Minor Atom
The Madison Excavating Minor Atoms hosted the Clarington Toros at RCAF on Friday. The Devils came out flying with a lot of quality scoring opportunities. The score was held at 0-0 until the middle of the  second when Jared Langdon took a pass from Ben Vreugdenhil and buried it in the back of the Toros net. Dean Spry was solid between the pipes, coming up with some huge saves, holding Clarington off the scoreboard until late in the third when the‎y finally snuck one in to tie the game. The Devils battled hard right to the last seconds of the game. Although they managed to double their opponent’s shots on goal, the bounces weren't in their favour and the Devils had to settle for 1 point.

Sunday had the Minor Atoms on the road in Oshawa. Looking for a big win, the Devils completely dominated the entire first period, out-working ‎the Generals from top to bottom. The second period remained scoreless as the Devils continued to sustain pressure in the offensive end but somehow could not capitalize on numerous scoring chances. Shots on goal were once again double for the Devils but it was Oshawa who popped one in early  third period. The Devils continued to outplay the Generals right to the end, but an additional empty-netter forced the Devils to record a 2-0 loss. Glen McInnes was in net.

The Madison Excavating Minor Atoms will be back in action Saturday, November 28 to face the Peterborough Petes at the Evinrude at 1:15pm. Sunday, November 29 the Devils will be home at RCAF to host the Central Ontario Wolves at 3:00pm.‎
