Quinte Red Devils Weekly Report – November 29, 2015
Bonn Law - Major Atom
The Bonn Law Major Atoms had another busy week which saw them play two games at home and one on the road in league play. Their first game of the week was on Wed, Nov 25th when they hosted the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs. Unfortunately, the Devils fell behind early in the game and were not able to recover despite out shooting their opponent. The final score was 7-2 for the Frontenacs. Scoring for the Devils was Ben Lynch and Nick Oke with assists going to Christopher Brydges and Jack Dever. Jacob Brown and Tucker McKichan shared the goaltending duties for this game. Despite the loss, the Devils still had their smiles on for a visit and photo opportunity with their sponsor, Kris Bonn and some of his family and staff from Bonn Law Office, who came out to cheer on the team. On Nov 29th, the Devils were back on familiar ice in Napanee when they welcomed the always strong and current ETA leaders, the Barrie Colts. This was the first time the Devils saw the Colts this season and the game proved to be a tight back and forth battle that saw both teams exchanging scoring opportunities throughout the game. The Colts managed to get on the scoreboard at the tail end of the opening period and added another in the closing minutes of the second. The Devils continued to push hard until the final seconds of the game, but couldn't find the back of the net and succumbed to the Colts by a score of 2-0. Jacob Brown was sharp in the net for the Devils.
Next action for the Devils is on Wed, Dec 2nd when they host the Peterborough Petes in Marmora and then head North on the weekend for a rematch with the Colts and Predators.

Corbin Roach and Cooper Matthews provided assists on the Devils goals. Corbin Votary was on duty in the Devils net for the eventual 4-4 tie.
On Friday Nov 27, the Devils had a short road trip to the Invista Centre to play the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs . The Foley Bus Liners lit the lamp three times in the first period to take a 3 to 0 lead, but the Frontenacs came back strong in the 2nd to cut the Devils lead to only one going into the third period. The Frontenacs would eventually add one more on a power play to tie the game midway through the third period. Free Flow Petroleum - Minor Bantam
On Wednesday, November 25, the QRD Free Flow Petroleum Minor Bantams beat the Kingston Frontenacs 3-0 in ETA league action. Scoring for Quinte were Jacob Gilbert (2) and Caleb Rock; assisting were Marshall McFarland (2), Jacob Vreugdenhil and Gavyn Stevenson. Ethan McDonnell had the shut-out.
On Thursday, November 26, the team rolled into Whitby to participate in the esteemed International Silver Stick Invitational Tournament.
In game 1, the Free Flow Minor Bantams beat their ETA rivals from Barrie, 2-1. Karsten Leonard scored Quinte’s first goal on a blistering snipe. Not to be outdone though, Jacob Gilbert buried the second - and game winner, with 13 seconds to go in the game - into a fist-sized top-corner target. Nick McGowan played superb in net.
In game 2, Quinte faced the #1 ranked team in the USA - Detroit Little Ceasars. Despite an impressive showing, Quinte lost 4-1. Gilbert had the only goal, with help from Caleb Rock.
In game 3, Quinte played Sudbury’s Nickel City Sons. The Red Devils battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game. Needing the win to advance from the round-robin, Quinte launched and maintained an all-or-nothing third period assault on the Sudbury net…but in the move to gain the extra attacker, let one puck get away, and lost 3-2. Treyton Finch and Stevenson scored for Quinte, with assists going to Isaac Langdon and Vreugdenhil.
In the fourth and final game, Quinte took on the #4 ranked team in the USA - Westchester Express (from New York). The Red Devils fought hard (and convincingly) but just couldn’t solve the opponent’s goaltender. In the end, Westchester skated to a 5-0 win.
Next up for the Minor Bantams is a mid-week rematch with Kingston, on their pond, then a trip to Richmond Hill to face the Coyotes on Sunday, December 6.
KKP - Kwik Kopy Printing – Minor Midget
This week the KKP Minor Midget Red Devils only had one game on the slate as visiting Ajax/Pickering Raiders came to Quinteland for a Saturday afternoon match-up. The KKP Devils thwarted the Raiders by turning aside all but one shot and tallying 5 for their side.
It is fair to say the Devils are firing on all cylinders. As they are outscoring their opponents 19-5 in the last three games and solidifying their 3rd place position in points and win percentage - this game was no different.
Evan Morrison stood tall in net for this one with five helping of goals being supplied by 5 different skaters. Starting off the scoring for the Devils was Madoka Suzuki with a #TeamFirst effort followed closely by Dawson Baker's grape. Hunter Leonard and Matthew Poole would find the mark in the second frame with icing on the proverbial cake by Nathan Dunkley's third period effort. Supplying assists for the aforementioned goals were Sherwin, Poole, Baker, Dunkley, and Morrison.
Next up for the Devil's a tilt against the ETA leading Kingston Frontenacs and a trip to Orillia to take on the North Central Predators and the Barrie Jr Colts as a part of the ETA Minor Midget Showcase.
