Week #1 - Novices off to a good start in Peterborough...
The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland - Novice
The Rhino Sports and Play Novice Red Devils came up one goal short in the Consolation Final in Peterborough this past weekend, losing 3-2 to the Niagara North Stars, however finished a respectable 6th overall out of the 14 team field.
After suffering a 3-0 loss in the opening game of the tournament against the Tournament Champion, Duffield Devils, Quinte came to play in game 2 with a 3-2 win over the Oakville Rangers.
Goal scorers: Keegan Goulah, MacLean Chisholm and Chase Cybulskie.
Games #3 and #4 brought a 3-2 win and a 3-3 tie against Southern Tier Admirals and The Burlington Eagles. Southern Tier Admirals goals scored by Chase Cybulskie, Nate Rashotte and Brayden Davidson. Cameron Shaw delivered 2 goals and Jonas McCoy with 1 for an overall tie against the Eagles.
Game 5 was a 3-2 win over Ajax-Pickering , pushing the Devils into the consolation finals. MacLean Chisholm and Cameron Shaw tied the game with a 3 on 3 overtime winning goal scored by Jonas McCoy.
The Consolation Final game against the Niagara North Stars proved to be an exciting game for the Devils. The devils lost with final score 3-2. Joey Neiman and Chase Cybulskie scored the goals for Quinte.
Goaltenders Daniel Yeo, and Charlie Vos played very well over the weekend, and recorded the highest save percentages of the tournament.
