QRD Weekly Report – Monday October 16, 2017

McInroy Maines -  Major Midget
The McInroy Maines Major Midget Red Devils have had a solid start to October with a 2 and 1 league record and a great showing at the Ottawa Jr. Sens Showcase Tournament with three wins and one loss. On October 7th the boys earned the two points against Peterborough winning 7-3. Nate Boomhower and Carden Guerin had 2 goals, while Jack Dow, Ryan Loiselle, and Willie Richards added singles. Brennan Bush took the win in goal.

On October 9th the short lineup and fatigue caught up with the boys losing 3-0 to clarington (empty net) despite Ethan Taylor’s best efforts. The Ottawa Jr. Sens Showcase weekend was a strong showing for the Red Devils Oct 13-15 weekend going 3 and 1 with only 6 goals against. Despite the successful record it was not good enough to move onto the playoff round.

Wins came against North York 3-0, Ottawa Jr. Sens 3-0, and Timmins 3-2. The lone loss came against Rockland 4-1. Matt Cawker and Braydan Forestell ledthe way with three goals on the weekend, Jack Dow chipped in with 2 while, Elijah Brahaney,and  Nate Boomhower chipped in with singles. The rest of the forward group including, Ryan Loiselle, and Willie Richards, provided solid play on the penalty kill and were instrumental on the forecheck. Affiliated players, Kyle Garrett, and Braydan Adams helped provide huge depth for the group. All 5 Defensemen, Lucas Sanders, Zepher Hlapcic, Kael Fredenburgh, Connor Kennedy and Carden Guerin held the fort Strong while goalies Brennan Bush (two shutouts) and Ethan Taylor were rock solid in net.

On Deck:  The boys return home with three Home games on the docket; Oct 19 vs. Clarington 8:15 QSWC- FDC Pad; 

Oct 21 vs. Central 2pm Deseronto;  Oct 22 vs. York Simcoe 2pm Deseronto.

Madison Excavating - Minor Peewee

The Madison Excavating Minor Peewee Quinte Red Devils played home and away this past weekend as they faced 2 ETA west teams, securing 2 points in regular season play.

Saturday had the Devils play host to the Barrie Colts in a back and forth battle at the QSWC. Gage Butcher would open up the scoring for the Devils to give them a 1-0 lead, assisted by Deacon Ellis and Liam Philip. The Colts answered back with one late in the first and early in the second to take a 2-1 lead over Quinte. The determined Devils would rally with another from Butcher to tie it up, assisted by Ben Vreugdenhil and Braedyn Rogers before then end of the second. The third saw Jared Langdon put the Devils ahead by a goal, assisted by Landon Wright and Carson Campbell. The Colts would sneak one passed the quick Dean Spry in net to tie the game again later in the final set. In the dying seconds of the game it was Wright who found the back of the Colts net on the set up from Beckett Ewart and Rogers to secure a 4-3 Quinte victory.

The Devils were on the road to St. Andrew's College to take on the York-Simcoe Express. The first set would end scoreless but it was YSE in the second who made use of a man advantage to take a 1-0 lead in the game.  Quinte answered back, while once again battling shorthanded, as Wright tied the game on the set up from Langdon. It was the Express who scored again in the third to take the lead and the Devils were unable to even it back up and facing their first loss this season in regular play. Mike McIvor was in net for the game.

On Deck : Saturday, Oct. 21 the Madison Excavating Minor Peewees will travel to Clarington to face the Toros and will be at home to host the Central Ontario Wolves on Sunday in Madoc.

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantam
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams finished a busy week with three games in ETA action with games against Kingston, York Simcoe, and Markham.

On Wednesday Oct 11, the Bus Liners hosted the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs at the QSWC.  The Frontenacs got on the board early by scoring 2 unanswered goals in the first period, putting the Red Devils on their heels going into the 2nd period. The Red Devils owned the 2nd period as they fought back with 3 unanswered goals of their own.  Scoring for the Devils were; Noah Richard assisted by Dalyn Wakely, Dalyn Wakely assisted by Noah Richard, and Corbin Roach assisted by Dalyn Wakely and Trevor McDowell. The score was 3 to 2 for the Devils going into the third period.  The Frontenacs came out strong in the third, scoring twice to regain the lead by a score of 4 to 3.  Brayden Spry left the Devils net as Corbin Votary came in to finish the game.  The Devils regained composure as Donovan McCoy found the back of the Fronts net with assists going to Trevor Hoskin and Kellen Dostaler to tie the game at 4.  Dalyn Wakely scored three minutes later to give the Devils the lead on assists from Corbin Roach and Trevor McDowell.  Noah Richard would score with only 17 seconds left to seal the deal with the assist going to Corbin Roach.  Final score was 6 to 4 for the Devils.

On Saturday Oct 14, the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams travelled to St. Andrews College to take on the York Simcoe Express.  In a back and forth game, both teams could not beat the goaltenders at each end, until Trevor Hoskin lit the lamp on a feed from Sami Douglas-Najem with just 57 seconds left in the 2nd period.  The Hoskin goal would prove to be the game winner as the Devils held on to win the game by a score of 1 to 0. Corbin Votary was strong in the Devils cage stopping all the Express could throw at him, including 3 breakaways and a penalty shot.

On Sunday Oct 15, the Minor Bantams hit the road again to return to Markham and take on the Waxers.  The Red Devils took control early with a trio of goals in the first period.  Scoring for the Devils were; Noah Richard on assists from Trevor McDowell and Cooper Matthews, Connor Hunt from Trevor Hoskin, and Trevor Hoskin from Trevor McDowell and Dalyn Wakely. The Devils added to their lead on Noah Richards second goal of the game, assisted by Owen Beck.  The Devils had a 4-goal lead, when the Waxers finally struck to end the second period by a score of 4 to 1 in favour of the Bus Liners.  Despite getting into penalty trouble in the third period, goaltender Brayden Spy made several key saves to fight off two separate 5 on 3 penalty kills.  Once back to full strength, the Devils continued their offensive productivity with two more goals. Scoring the third period goals were; Owen Beck from Sami Douglas-Najem, and Noah Richard with his third of the game to record his hat trick on assists from Donovan McCoy and Aaron Brown.  Brayden Spry went the distance in the Devils cage.

On Deck: Next action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams is Saturday Oct 21 at the QSWC against the Richmond Hill Coyotes. Puck drop scheduled for 5:45pm.

Pita Pit – Atom
The Major Atom Pita Pit boys travelled to Whitby this Saturday and faced 4-3 loss. Despite the Pita Pit boys outplaying their opponents for most of the game, Whitby scored in the 3rd to take the win. Pita Pit goals were scored by Carter Chadwick assisted by Kaiden Harmon and Owen Ferguson. Avery Wease assisted by Evan Erwin and Mason Musclow. Wease assisted by Erwin and Deke Osterhout. Lennox Stewart was in net.

Sunday the Pita Pit boys faced the North Central Predators at home in Deseronto. Following the theme of not being outworked the Pita Pit boys scored 2 goals early on to open the scoring. NCP came back to tie it up but that didn't stop the Pita Pit boys determination and they pulled off a 3-2 win. Goals scored by Chadwick assisted by Mason Boyer. Rylan McCormack assisted by Jake Sage and Alek Asimis. Wease assisted by Ethan Lord and Harmon. Liam Boyer picked up the win in net.

Game Ready Hockey - Bantams
The Game Ready Hockey Bantams had three games this past week. Thursday the Bantams hosted the Central Ontario Wolves where they lost 5-3. Goals by Zack Brooks and Ben White (2). Assisting was Nathanial Burrelle and Luke Lapalm. Dixon Grimes was in net.

In the second game the Devil's travelled to Aurora to face off against the York Simcoe Express. The Express took the lead midway through the third to beat Quinte 2-1. Jett Butler with the lone goal assisted by Zack Brooks. Ethan Fraser was in net. On Sunday the Devils faced the Whitby Wildcats where they lost 7-1. Daniel Michaud with the goal. Dixon Grimes was in net. 


Bonn Law - Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Major Peewee team were 1-1 in league play this weekend.

On Saturday, the Devils visited St. Andrews college in Aurora to take on the York Simcoe Express. In a back and forth game with the Express, the Devils didn't get the bounces they needed, and ended up on the losing end of a 3-1 game. Ethan Miedema scored the lone goal for the Red Devils when he tipped a point shot from Duncan Schneider. Aidan Crowley was in net for the Devils.

On Sunday the Devils were home to the Ajax Pickering Raiders. It was all Quinte in this game, while they went on the defeat the Raiders be a score of 5-0. Ethan Miedema had a hat trick in the game, while Ethan Quick and Michael Dolton added a goal each. Assisting on the goals was Miedema, Quick, Will Haley (2), Keenan Wiles, Ben Smith and Sidney Wakely. Brayden Friedrich recorded the shut out in net for the home team.

On Deck:  The Devils are in Peterborough next weekend to participate in the Boston Pizza Ice Fest Tournament.


Kwik Kopy Printing - Minor Atom
The Kwik Kopy Printing Minor Atoms played host to the Richmond Hill Coyotes Saturday October 14th.  Jack Foley got the scoring started 1:54 into the game assisted by Ryland Cunningham and Rykken Ellis.  Jacob Moore gave Quinte a 2-0 lead minutes later on a short handed rush assisted by Foley and Lucas Adamson.  The second would be spent mainly in Richmond Hill's end with many chances but, no luck finding the back of the net until Cunningham muscled his way around a defender, short handed giving the Devils a 3 goal lead.  Assisted by Carson Lynch and Cooper Kelly. Kaden Koutroulides scored a third period goal from Kolby Craig and Tavin MacDonald. The 4-0 lead was enough as Kayden McBride Hyde earned his first shut out of the season. 

The Devils traveled to Little Britain for a match up with the Central Ontario Wolves Sunday afternoon.  Minutes into the game the Devils found themselves in a 2-0 hole.  Although Quinte began to trade chances with the Wolves the defending OMHA champs were too much eventually winning 5-0.
