QRD Weekly Report – Monday November 13, 2017

Free Flow Petroleum - Minor Midget

The Free Flow Minor Midgets are starting to get untracked after a couple of injury plagued weeks in ETA action.  Playing at home on Saturday night against a gritty Oshawa team that has given the boys trouble in the past, the Free Flow boys came out guns a blazing in a 6-2 romp. Jacob Gilbert(2G,1A) and Jaxen Boyer(2G) led the scoring parade with Karsten Leonard and Nicholas Kirby-Palliser chipping in with a goal each. Jacob Vreugdenhil chipped in with 3 assists while Isaac Landon and Curtis Dicks had 2 each. Braydon Robinson and Connor MacGregor chipped in with an assist each. Ethan McDonnell was solid in net.

Sunday the Minor Midgets were home again at the Strathcona Centre in Napanee for their second home game in as many days. Again the boys got on the board first and never looked back skating to a convincing 6-0 win over the Central Ontario Wolves. The scoring was spread out amongst 6 different scorers with Nicholas Kirby-Palliser getting the scoring started. Jaxen Boyer, Karsten Leonard, Isaac Langdon and Marshall McFarland supplied the other tallies. Helpers were supplied by Jacob Vreugdenhil(2), Gavyn Stevenson, Kirby-Palliser, Garrett Bird and Curtis Dicks. Matt Tovell earned the goose egg in net in a very solid performance. 

     The whole team would like to congratulate Captain Isaac Langdon on earning a full Division 1 scholarship to Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.

Kwik Kopy Printing - Minor Atom
The Kwik Kopy Printing Minor Atoms hosted the Whitby Wildcats Saturday November 11th in Cobourg. 

The Devils were looking for revenge after having lost to them twice this season.  The first period shots

were 10-1 in favour of the Devils but, the period would end scoreless.  Late in the second Jack Foley finally

got the Devils on the board assisted by Connor Fetterley.  Early in the third Foley would put Quinte up 2-0 with a great shot, post and in. Assisted by Jacob Moore and Kolby Craig.  Foley would complete the natural hat trick scoring late in the third assisted by Owen Rivers and Craig.  Whitby, down 3-0 pulled the goalie with three minutes left in the game and would score late but, the game would end 3-1 for Quinte.  Nowl Wallace earned the win in net. 

 

The Devils played host to the York Simcoe Express Sunday November 12th in Madoc.  York Simcoe got the scoring started midway through the second period. Ryland Cunningham got the Devils on the board late in the second assisted by Cooper Kelly and Carson Lynch.  Quinte controlled the zone time for much of the game and would go up 2-1 midway through the third on a goal by Jack Foley assisted by Cunningham

and Rivers.  Kaden Koutroulides put the Devils up 3-1 seconds later assisted by Tavin MacDonald and Craig. The game ended 3-1 and Kayden Mcbride-Hyde secured the win in net.  With the win, the Devils record improved to 11 wins 3 losses and 2 ties in regular season.

McInroy Maines - Midget
A win, loss and tie for the McInroy Maines Major Midget Devils to round out the week of November 6-12th.

In Peterborough on November 8th the team took away the two points 4-2. Goals scored by Jack Dow (2), Matt Poole and Elijah Brahaney, the team fired 53 shots at a strong Petes goaltender while Ethan Taylor took the win for the Devils.

 

On Saturday afternoon, a Strong Ajax-Pickering Raiders team came to town and the Devils competed to a 3-3 draw for a hard earned point. Matt Cawker, Elijah Brahaney and Ethan Ashley found the score sheet with Brennan Bush in, solid as ever in net. The Devils outshot Ajax-Pickering 39-23.

 

Unfortunately Sunday the boys came out on the wrong end of another close contest losing to the North Central Predators 5-3 (fifth goal empty net). Despite the loss the team competed hard once again showing lots of resilience. Brahaney, Braydan Forestell and Carden Guerin had the goals this time while Ethan Taylor made 41 saves despite the loss.

 

This week, the McInroy Maines Devils are in Kingston Friday November 17, and back home at the Yardmen on Saturday November 18th at 4pm.

 

Kwik Kopy Printing - Minor Atom

Madison Excavating - Minor Peewee
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees took home 6 points in league play this week winning all 3 of their games.

Wednesday was a mid week match up verses the Clarington Toros at home at QSWC. It was a scoreless first period as the Devils were held off the scoreboard until the second when Ty Therrien found the back of the Toros net with the set up from Braedyn Rogers and Ben Vreugdenhil. Beckett Ewart would add 2 more before the end of the second, assisted by Rogers and Jared Langdon. The Devils would go on to dominate the third period and add 4 goals to the scoreboard to give them the 7-0 victory. Scoring in the third were Rogers, Langdon(2) and Ben Danford. Assisting were Langdon, Ewart, Vreugdenhil, Rogers, Therrien, Liam Philip and Danford. Mike McIvor was in net for the shut out.

 

Saturday had the Minor Peewees play host to the Central Ontario Wolves. Again the first period would end scoreless but it was Ewart to light the lamp first in the second set on the pass from Langdon. The Wolves would manage to tie the game shortly after but it was Ewart again to give the Devils the lead, this time assisted by Philip and Langdon. Central would tie the game 2-2 before the end of the second but it would be their last goal of the game as the third period saw the Devils pour on the offence. Tallying 4 unanswered goals, Quinte skated their way to a 6-2 win. Goals in the third came from Philip, Langdon(2) and Therrien. Assists came from Ewart(2), Langdon, Rogers and Danford. Dean Spry stood tall in net for the Devils.

 

The Devils were on the road to Peterborough on Sunday to face the Petes at the Evinrude. Landon Wright would open up the scoring for the Minor Peewees on the set up from Anthony Nugent and Deacon Ellis. In the second, Philip would take the set up from Danford and Langdon to make it 2-0. Peterborough would sneak one past the Quinte net minder, but it would be their only goal of the game as the Devils went on to add 2 more to take the 4-1 victory. Ewart and Philip would score the last two goals of the game, assisted by Langdon and Wright. McIvor would take the win in the net.

 

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees will be on the road to Oshawa on Tuesday to take on the Generals. The weekend has the Devils home on Saturday at QSWC to host the Ajax-Pickering Raiders and away on Sunday to face the Wildcats in Whitby.

 

Bonn Law - Major Peewee
The Bonn Law Major Peewees had a relatively quiet week with only one game on their schedule this past weekend.  The boys spent Remembrance Day on the road as they travelled to Richmond Hill to take on the Coyotes and came home with two points winning the game by a score of 5-3.  Brayden Friedrich was stellar between the pipes for the Devils making several highlight reel saves for his team.

 

On deck: The Bonn Law Peewees are back in action again on Sunday, Nov 19th as they host the Whitby Wildcats in Madoc.

Game Ready Hockey - Major Bantam
This weekend the Game Ready Major Bantams participated in the Kitchener Blueline Tournament.   The team would finish the weekend with a 2-2 record.

In the first game the Devil’s beat the Upper Canada Cyclones with a final score of 5-1.  Scoring for the Devils was Zack Brooks (2), Ben White, Daniel Michaud and Luke LaPalm.  Assists from Ethan Broek, Gavin Camp, Blake Maracle, Oz Paziuk and Ben White . Player of the game was Zack Brooks. The next game Devils  played the Sun County Panthers.  The game would end in with a 2-1 loss.  Lone goal for the Devils was scored by Ben White, assisted by Zack Brooks.

The Devil’s lost their third game 5-0 to the Guelph Jr. Gryphons. In the final game of the tournament the Devils secured a 3-2 with a second left in the game.  Goals scored by Daniel Michaud, Jett Butler and Ben White. Assisting was Oz Paziuk, Zack Brooks, Daniel Michaud and Connor Brooks..  Player of the game was Ben White.

The team resumes league play Wednesday night in Clarington.

Rhino Sports and Play Quinte Novice

This past weekend the Rhino Sports and Play Novice Red Devils played in the Barrie Remembrance Day Classic.

Friday November 10th a tough loss to the Goulding Park Rangers 10-1 with a lone unassisted goal scored by #9 MacLean Chisholm. Friday afternoon the boys rebounded against the Richmond Hill Coyotes with a 2-1 win. Goals were scored by  Paxton Erskine and Chase Cybulskie. Assists from Jake Gawley, Jonas McCoy and MacLean Chisholm.

On Saturday Nov 11, Quinte had another defeat against the Oakville Rangers 3-1. Goal scorers were Brayden Davidson, MacLean Chisholm and Nate Rashotte. Assist the lone assist came from Brayden Davidson.

Saturday afternoon's game was a 5-2 loss against the South Huron Sabres. Goals were scored by MacLean Chisholm and  Nate Rashotte and a single assist came from Brayden Davidson.

Stellar performance by both goalies Daniel Yeo and Charlie Vos.

 

Pita Pit - Major Atom
The Major Atom Pita Pit Red Devils jumped back into regular season play and earned 3 out of a possible 4 points. The boys took on the Markham Waxers on Saturday in Cobourg. Kayden Harmon opened the scoring for Quinte, assisted by Owen Ferguson and Rylan McCormack. Evan Erwin tied the game with a blast that went top shelf (McCormack, Alec Asimis) and a breakaway goal in the final minute of the game by Carter Chadwick (Jake Sage) gave the Red Devils the lead. Lennox Stewart had a strong game in the 3-2 win.

The team hosted the Barrie Jr. Colts on Sunday. The Quinte boys played a high-intensity game for three periods and came away with a tie against the top team in the west. Erwin put the team on the scoreboard with his sixth point in six games (Asimis, McCormack). Ferguson (McCormack, Mason Musclow) added a goal to tie up the game and the score ended 2-2. Liam Boyer was solid in net.

On Deck: The Pita Pit boys travel to Kingston on Wednesday to face the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs. Game time: 7 pm at Invista. They get a day off on Saturday and return to the ice on Sunday to host the Central Ontario Wolves on Sunday in Deseronto. Game time: 5 pm.
