Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Midget

The Free Flow Petroleum Minor Midgets split games this week with a win and a loss.

Wednesday evening the team travelled to Oshawa to take on the Generals.Ethan Fraser earned his first shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory.

Nathaniel Burelle scored the first goal with an assist from Brady Darrach in the second period. A follow up goal later in the period came from Jett Butler assisted by Clayton Farrow. The third and final goal of the game was a tic tac toe goal scored by Ben White from Farrow and Burelle.

The second game of the week was played in Whitby against the Wildcats who are the first place team in the ETA.
Quinte held the Wildcats to a 0-0 first period but ultimately Whitby scored 3 times in the second to lead 3-0. The Devils finally opened up the Quinte scoreboard late in the second with a goal from Jett Butler and assist from Daniel Michaud. Whitby scored again in the first few minutes of the third and Nathaniel Burelle potted one for QRD in the third with assists to Ben White and Connor Brooks. Final score was a 4-2 loss. Ethan Fraser had a good game in net.

Next up the Devils will participate in the Steve Richey Tournament of Champions hosted by Peterborough Jan 18-20th.

The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland- Minor Atom

The Rhino Sports Minor Atoms traveled to Whitby to face off against the number one team in the league.  Quinte came out hard and was looking for a win. 

Nate Rashotte started the scoring off for Quinte.  Followed by a goal by Keegan Goulah and another by Nate Rashotte a few minutes later.  At the end of the second period Quinte was ahead by two goals.  Goulah scored again at the start of the third and Rashotte finished the game off with a third goal for a hat-trick.  Assists went to: Grayson Hunt, Maclean Chisholm (x2), Jake Gawley (x2), Jonas McCoy, Gabriel Davis, and Pierson Clute.  Charlie Vos was strong in net.  Quinte won 5-3 to give the Wildcats their first loss of the season.  A big win for the Minor Atoms!

Sunday, the Minor Atoms took on the Oshawa Generals in Madoc. Half way through the first period, Nate Rashotte scored (assisted by Maclean Chisholm). Pierson Clute put one past the goalie and the devils we up by two goals.  Chisholm and Rashotte (assisted by Brody Harrison) both scored a short handed goal to end the second period.  Harrison (assisted by Ryan Foley) finished off the game.  Quinte won 5-0  over the Generals and Daniel Yeo got the shut out in net.

Quinte only has one game next week where they look for another win over Oshawa on Saturday.

Madison Excavating- Major Peewee

The Madison Excavating Peewees had 2 league games this week and added another 3 points.

The Devils were on the road to Oshawa for a mid week match up against the Generals at the Legends Centre this past Thursday. The first period would end scoreless. The second period however would be a back and forth offensive battle. Quinte would strike first with a goal from Ben Vreugdenhil, assisted by Jared Langdon and Deacon Ellis. Oshawa answered back with 2 quick goals to take the lead. The Devils would tie it up 2-2 with a goal from Beckett Ewart on the set up from Brody Partridge and Ellis. The Gens took a quick lead but it was Gage Butcher, assisted by Landon Wright and Vreugdenhil to tie the game. The third would be scoreless and 3-3 would be the final score. Dean Spry was between the pipes for the tie.

Sunday had the Devils play host to the Clarington Toros. Quinte would strike early in the first with 3 goals. Goals came from Liam Philip, Langdon and Wright. Assisted were Ewart, Ty Therrien, Carson Campbell and Ellis. While the Toros would score 1 in each of the next 2 periods, the Devils would go on to score another 3 to make it a 6-2 victory. Philip would add two more to get the hat trick, assisted on both by Ewart and Braedyn Rogers would score the final goal on the set up by Butcher. Spry was in net for the win.

The Madison Excavating Peewees will be back in action next weekend in Whitby and Clarington.

 

Foley Bus Lines- Major Bantam

With only 7 games remaining Quinte sits on top of the ETA East in first place with 22 wins, 2 losses and 5 ties.

On Wednesday the Devil’s travelled to Whitby to take on the Wildcats.  Quinte would strike first at the three minute mark of the first period and add another at the six minute mark of the second.  The third period was held scoreless on both sides.  Quinte would take a 2-0 win.

On Saturday Quinte hosted the Clarington Toros.  The Toros would open the scoring just 11 seconds into the game and then add another 5 minutes later.  Quinte would answer back with two quick goals of their own to bring the game back to a tie.  With less than a minute to go in the first the Toros would score again and take a 3-2 lead after 15 minutes of play.   The Devils would net 2 goals in the second and the Toros would net 1.  After 2 periods it was a 4-4 tie.  In the third period the Toros would score one more time but your Devils found the back of the net 4 times and would take an 8-5 win.

On Sunday the Devils travelled to Peterborough to take on the Petes.  Both teams would score in the first period.  The second period was all Devils as they netted 5 more goals while the Petes found the back of the net only once.  Going into the final period the Devils had a 6-2 lead.  Quinte would score 3 more times in the third and win the game 9-2

Next action is this Saturday against the Oshawa Generals @ 3:45pm at the QSWC (FDC Pad).

 

McInroy Maines- Major Midget

The McInroy Maines Major Midgets had a difficult week generating any ground in the East division playoff race with a tie against the Greater Kingston Frontenacs and a loss to the Clarington Toros. With 5 games to go and the Peterborough Major Midget Tournament next weekend it will be an exciting finish. 

January 8th vs. Greater Kingston 2-2 tie

Bonn Law- Minor Bantam

It was a road win and a home loss for the Bonn Law Minor Bantams this week.

The boys went to Peterborough for a midweek game and came home with a 4-1 win over the Petes. Aidan Crowley was in net. Ethan Miedema opened QRD scoring early in the first with assists to Ben Davy and Cal Uens. Before the end of the first, Miedema found Uens in front of Peterborough’s net for their second points of the night. Christopher Brydges was the second assist on this play. Michael Dolton scored the third QRD goal on a beautiful pass from Justin Murdoch. Ethan Quick also recorded an assist on the play. The final QRD goal was a laser shot by Murdoch with an assist to Joshua Cunningham.

Returning to home ice against the Clarington Toros did not provide the results the Bonn Law Minor Bantams they were looking for. A Clarington shot deflected passed netminder Liam Murphy thirty seconds into the game putting them down 1-0 early. The boys answered late in the first when Miedema passed to Aiden Haller Brady who fired home the tying goal. Uens recorded an assist on the play. The fast-paced game remained scoreless until the final 10 seconds of play when the Toros went ahead 2-1.

On deck: The boys have three games this week starting with a trip to Oshawa on Tuesday night.  They will then host the Central Ontario Wolves on Saturday for their annual Pink in the Rink fundraiser in support of the Canadian Cancer Society- Breast Cancer and then play another home game on Sunday at the RCAF against Peterborough.

 

KKP- Major Atom

The Quinte Red Devil Major Atoms attended the Taylor Hall Cup in Kingston over the weekend hosted by the Greater Kingston Jr Frontenacs. 

On Friday the Devils faced the Eastern Ontario Cobras in their first game of the day. The Devils were unable to find the back of the net and lost 2-0. 

In their second game the Devils faced the Ajax Pickering Raiders and won by a score of 3-1. 

On Saturday the Devils needed to win both games to advance.  In their first game of the day the Devils lost a hard fought game to the Kanata Blazers.  The Devils rebounded in their second game of the day to beat the Nepean Raiders 2-0. 

The Devils travel for a couple away games this weekend in Whitby and Clarington
