QRD Weekly Report for the week of Jan 14 - 20.... Bonn Law Minor Bantams host Pink in the Rink

Bonn Law- Minor Bantam

The Bonn Law Minor Bantams recorded two wins and a loss this week in their regular season play, continuing to lead the East.

They travelled west to face the Oshawa Generals Tuesday and were handed a 4-1 loss with 2 empty net goals recorded by a very physical Generals squad. The lone QRD goal was netted by Jack Dever late in the game with assist to Sid Wakely. Aidan Crowley was in net for QRD.

The boys held their second annual PINK IN THE RINK event at home on Saturday where they hosted the Central Ontario Wolves. Not only did they raise a tremendous amount of money to fight against breast cancer but they also recorded a convincing 7-0 win. Liam Murphy recorded the shutout. Scoring came from Spencer Cranley (2), Aiden Haller Brady (2), Tyson Carr, Ethan Quick and Cal Uens with helpers to Cranley (3), Haller Brady (2), Uens, Carr and Ben Davy (2).  A Big thank you to all those that donated and/or contributed in any way to the success of the day!  Stay tuned later this week for the official word on the total amount raised by the Minor Bantams! Another 2 points were gained Sunday evening at RCAF when the boys faced off against the Peterborough Petes. Aidan Crowey was in net for the win. After going down 2-0, the boys battled back to secure the 4-2 win. Justin Murdoch put QRD on the scoreboard just into the second period and then netted his second of the night four minutes later to tie up the game. Assists to Michael Dolton (2), Christopher Brown and Joshua Cunningham. The go-ahead goal came with seconds left in the second period on a pass from Ethan Miedema to Jack Dever who fhe Petes net. Cal Uens then put home an empty netter with under a minute left in the third.

The boys travel to Mississauga this weekend to participate in the Superseries Border Battle, a showcase which will have them play 5 games against American talent.

Pita Pit- Minor Peewee

The Pita Pit Minor Peewees hosted the Oshawa Generals at the Wellness Centre on Saturday. It was a very special day as some of our sponsors showed up to support while we hosted PINK in the Rink. Thank you to all who donated and to our volunteers that helped make the day a success. 


The Devils broke out in this one and put 5 on the board to come out with a 5-3 victory. Goal scorers of the day were Rylan McCormack 2, Evan Erwin, Christian Sokoljuk and Mason Boyer. Assisting on the goals were Dawson Macintosh, Kaiden Harmon, Andrew MacNiel 3, Boyer 2, Erwin, Sokoljuk, and Ben Laird. Liam Boyer took the win in net for Quinte. 

On Deck: The Pita Pit Minor Peewees will participate in the Mississauga Rebels border classic tournament next weekend. 

The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland- Minor Atom

It was a quiet week for the Rhino Sports Minor Atoms with only one game on the schedule. 

On Saturday, they faced off against the Oshawa Minor Generals in Oshawa.  Late in the first period, Quinte came out and scored three goals in two minutes!  Brayden Davidson (assisted by Chase Cybulskie and Keegan Goulah), then Seth Scaletta (assisted by Brody Harrison) and finally Grayson Hunt (assisted by Nate Rashotte and Cybulskie) and Quinte was ahead 3-0.  Oshawa started off the second period with a goal.  Then Pierson Clute fired a shot and  Rashotte picked up the rebound to put it past the goalie and the game was now 4-1 at the end of the second.  Quinte scored one more goal when Davidson (assisted by Scaletta) beat the goalie.  Charlie Vos was in net for the 5-1 win.

 

The Quinte Minor Atoms hope to continue their four game winning streak when they take on: Kingston, Ajax-Pickering and Peterborough in the coming week.

 

Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Midgetound the back of t

The Minor Midgets participated in the Steve Richey Peterborough Tournament of Champions this weekend.

First up, the boys tied the Sudbury Wolves. Final score was 4-4. Goals scored by Zack Brooks, Luke LaPalm, Ethan Broek and Daniel Michaud with assists to Clayton Farrow, Connor Brooks, White, LaPalm and Zack Brooks. Alex Lucas was in net.

Next the boys lost to Hamiton Huskies 3-2. Goals from White, Brady Darrach. Assists from Farrow,Burelle and White. Ethan Fraser was between the pipes

Third game was a loss to Toronto Jr Canadians 4-2. Goals from Darrach and Jett Butler. Assists from Burelle and Zack Brooks, Broek and LaPalm. Lucas was in net

Final game the team played Halton Hurricanes and fell 4-1. Only goal supplied by Burelle with assist to Darrach. Fraser was goalie.

Next on the schedule is an away game against Clarington Toros on January 25th 8:45pm at Rickards in Bowmanville.

Madison Excavating- Major Peewee

The Madison Excavating Peewees were on the road this past weekend to face the Whitby Wildcats and the Clarington Toros.

The Devils came up short securing only 1 point of the possible 4 in league play.

Saturday was a match up in Whitby verses the Wildcats. The first set would end scoreless and it would be the Wildcats who struck first in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. Quinte tied the game before the end of the second with a goal from Beckett Ewart, assisted by Ben Vreugdenhil.

Neither team could add to the board in the third and the Devils settled for the tie. Mike McIvor was in net.

 

The Devils were on the road again Sunday in Clarington to face the Toros. Quinte was caught off guard as the Toros would score 2 unanswered goals in the first and another in the second to have a 3-0 lead going into the third. The Devils would score one in the last set as Jared Langdon, assisted

by Vreugdenhil and Thomas Kuipers would make it 3-1. However, Clarington added another and Quinte succumbed to the 4-1 loss. Dean Spry was in net for the loss.

 

Foley Bus Lines- Major Bantam

Red Devils 12 & Markham 0

The Major Bantams were scheduled to host the Oshawa Generals on Saturday but due to the winter weather the game was cancelled.  This game is now scheduled for January 30th at 7:45pm at the QSWC (FDC Pad).

On Sunday the boys travelled to Markham for their second match up of the season against the Waxers.  The game was controlled by your Devils from start to finish.  The Devils scored 5 times in the first, 5 more times in the second and 2 in the third to take a 12-0 win over the Waxers.

Next action is this Saturday when the boys travel to Whitby to take on the Wildcats.

 

McInroy Maines- Major Midget

The McInroy Maines Major Midgets added another "W" to the win column on Wednesday JAnuary 16 defeating the Oshawa Generals 7-0 to keep pace in the playoff race. 

Goals; 

Dryden Minifie (2), Karsten Leonard (2), Khaden Henry, and Nick Kirby Palliser (2)

January 17-20 the team participated in the Steve Richey Tournament of Champions. Going 1 and 3 on the weekend was hardly the way the team drew things up but all 4 games carried close match-ups against good clubs

KKP- Major Atom

KKP Major Atoms played two road games on the weekend. 

On Saturday the Devils travelled to Whitby to face the Wildcats.  The Devils fought hard for a 4–1 win. 

Scoring for the Devils was Ryland Cunningham, Jack Foley, Connor Fetterley and Owen Rivers; picking up assists was Kolby Craig, Jack Foley and Rykken Ellis. 

 

On Sunday the Devils travelled to Clarington to face the Toros.  The Devils lost by a score of 5-3. 

Scoring for the Devils was Jacob Moore, Riley Reid and Jack Foley. 

 

On deck: The Devils host the York Simcoe Express on Saturday.
