Foley Bus Lines- Major Bantam

Quinte takes a 2-0 game lead over Richmond Hill in the second round of playoffs.

On Saturday your Quinte Red Devils hosted the Richmond Hill Coyotes for game 1 of the second round of playoffs.  There was great action at both ends of the rink for the first and second periods.  Neither team would find the back of the net.  It was Quinte on a PP just 30 seconds into the third period that would strike first.  Richmond Hill would answer back 2 minutes later with one of their own.  Quinte would regain the lead at the 13:00 mark but the Coyotes would tie the game up 2 minutes later again but that would be the last goal for the Coyotes.  Quinte would find the back of the net 3 more times in the last 7 minutes of play to win the game 5-2 and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Game 2 was in Richmond Hill on Sunday.  Quinte started game 2 the same way they finished game 1.  The Devils would strike just one minute into the opening period and then add another one minute later.  With 4 seconds remaining in the first period Quinte would score again to take 3-0 lead heading

into the second.  It was all Quinte in the second period as they found the back of the net 2 more times and take a commanding 5-0 lead heading into the final period of the game.  The Coyotes were getting frustrated and their game turned to a rougher style of play but Quinte kept their cool and continued to play their game.  They would score one more time and take the game 6-0.

Congratulations to Cooper Matthews #24 and Dalyn Wakely #96 as both players reached the 100 point mark in this game.

The Devils will host Richmond Hill for game three Thursday @ 8:15pm at the QSWC (Family Dental Centre).

Madison Excavating- Major Peewee

The Madison Excavating Peewees started their second round of play offs with 2 wins over Markham and taking a 4 point lead in the series.

Game one of the series had the Devils playing host at RCAF on Saturday. The two teams matched speed back and forth but it was the Waxers who struck first with a goal in the first and another in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Quinte came out ready for a comeback in the third as Ty Therrien scores the first of the game on the set up from Landon Wright and Jared Langdon. Liam Philip would tie up the game shortly after on the set up from Caleb Martin. It was Carson Campbell, unassisted from the point, who would score the go ahead goal and give the Devils the victory. Mike McIvor was solid between the pipes.

Sunday had the Devils take to the road to face the Waxer in Markham. Once again it was Markham who struck first early in the game. Again the Devils came out on fire in the third with Wright tying up the score 1-1 on the set up from Brody Partridge. Therrien would bury another shortly after to give the Devils the 2-1 lead, assisted by Ben Danford. It was an empty netter in the dying minutes from Beckett Ewart, assisted by Langdon that gave Quinte the 3-1 win. Dean Spry kept the Devils in the game between the pipes.

Game three of the series will be in Belleville on Wednesday at 7:45pm at QSWC.

The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland- Minor Atom

The Rhino Sports Minor Atom's continue their series with the Barrie Colts.  Game four, Quinte hosted the Colts in their home barn in Madoc.

The game was scoreless until late in the second period when Barrie scored.  It was an exciting third period.  Maclean Chisholm to Grayson Hunt who went top corner for the first goal of the game.  Twenty seconds later, Chisholm to Nate Rashotte for another goal.  Quinte was up 2-1.  Barrie fired back with another goal to tie the game.  Six minute left in the period and Rashotte passes out front to Jake Gawley for the third goal of the game.  With one minute left in the game, Barrie scored.  The game went to overtime and was settled in a tie.

Sunday, Quinte traveled to Barrie for game five.  Quinte needed a tie or win to win the series and move on.  Things weren't looking good going into the third period as Quinte was down 2-0.  Keegan Goulah to Gawley and Quinte was on the board.  Forty seconds later Ryan Foley to Brody Harrison and the game was tied.  This game was also going to overtime.  Unfortunately, Barrie scored first and forced game six.
