U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils Compete at the Toronto Marlboro’s Holiday Classic
The U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils competed with 49 top teams from across Ontario and the United States in the Toronto Marlboro’s Holiday Classic in Etobicoke From December 27-30th. The Red Devils had a win, tie and two losses over the course of the four day tournament. With Reece Herman in net, Quinte started the tournament with a 1-1 tie against the Chatham-Kent Cyclones. Quinte’s goal was scored by Sam Thompson.
Next up, the Red Devils came out strong and beat the Buffalo Regals 3-1. Liam Boyer was between the pipes and goals were scored by Evan Erwin, Mason Musclow and Jack Pixley. On Wednesday, the Red Devils had a hard fought battle against the Halton Hurricanes (2022 OMHA Champs). Quinte came out strong and scored two early, first period goals from Ben Sherwin and Deke Osterhout. With Reece Herman in net, Quinte held the lead through two periods of play and to a 2-2 tie through the third period. Unfortunately, with a late game penalty, the Red Devils lost the battle when the Hurricanes scored with 2.2 seconds left in the game, taking the win 3-2. That afternoon, the Red Devils matched up against the North York Rangers. Liam Boyer held strong in net but with the Red Devils having a hard time finding the back of the net, it wasn’t enough to beat the Rangers and they lost 4-1, ending the tournament for the Red Devils. Quinte’s lone goal was scored by Pax Murphy. The tournament hosts, the Toronto Marlboro’s, played against the Halton Hurricanes in the championship final and came out on top with a 4-1 win. Congratulations to the Marlies for a well-played tournament!
