The 417 Bus Line U11 Red Devils are the Barrie AAA Challenge Cup Champions

The team had 7 wins and 0 losses on the weekend and despite being down by two goals in each of the quarters, semis, and finals, they fought back to win the championship.

 

They started round robin play on Friday morning against the North Bay Trappers. Quinte came out on top 6-0. Scoring for the Red Devils was Evan Andrews (3), Kash Nelson (2) and Will Beebe. Picking up assists were Noah Gilchrist (3), Beebe, Nelson, Malkin Courtney, Max Norton, Ryker Thompson and Jaxon Elrick.

Lily Groeneveld had the shut out in net and Gilchrist was named Player of The Game.

 

Late Friday night they would take on the Rideau-St.Lawrence Kings. Quinte won by a score of 4-0.Scoring for the Red Devils was Max Norton (2), Cohen Reid and Will Beebe. Picking up assists were Beebe, Kash Nelson, Malkin Courtney, Matt Dawson and Noah Gilchrist. Blake Laurin had the shut out in net and Norton was named Player of The Game.

 

Saturday morning Quinte hit the ice against the Credit River Capitals and came out on top 5-3.Scoring for the Red Devils was Kash Nelson (2), Cohen Reid, Will Beebe and Ryker Thompson.Picking up assists were Nelson (2), Beebe, Reid and Mac Brown. Lily Groeneveld was in net for the win and Nelson was named Player of The Game.

 

Saturday afternoon they were up against the Southern-Tier Admirals. Quinte skated to a 4-2 win.

Scoring goals was Kash Nelson, Noah Gilchrist, Malkin Courtney and Max Norton. Picking up assists were Gilchrist, Sebastian Smit, Ryker Thompson, Evan Andrews and Brayden Straughan.Blake Laurin was in net for the win and Courtney was named Player Of The Game.

 

Sunday morning it was a quarter final match up against the Chatham-Kent Cyclones. Despite being down 2-0 ten minutes into the game, Quinte stormed back and won 6-3. Scoring for the Red Devils was Max Norton (2), Graydon Tucker, Ryker Thompson, Jaxon Elrick and Matt Dawson.Picking up assists were Noah Gilchrist (2), Evan Andrews (2) and Dawson. Lily Groeneveld was in net for the win and Dawson was named Player Of The Game.

 

A few hours later they were up against their league rivals the Peterborough Petes. Once again Quinte would find themselves down early but came back and won by a score of 5-2. Scoring for the Red Devils was Max Norton (2), Graydon Tucker, Evan Andrews and Kash Nelson. Picking up assists were Andrews (2), Tucker, Linden Ludolph, Jaxon Elrick, Noah Gilchrist, Sebastien Smit and Cohen Reid. Blake Laurin was in net for the win and Andrews was named Player Of The Game.

 

In the finals they would take on the OMHA West Division leaders, the Oakville Rangers. Quinte found themselves down 2-0 once again but fought back to win the game and Championship 5-3.Scoring for the Red Devils was Evan Andrews (2), Kash Nelson, Jaxon Elrick and Will Beebe.Picking up assists were Nelson, Beebe, Linden Ludolph, Max Norton, Mac Brown and Cohen Reid. Lily Groeneveld was in net for the win and Beebe was named the Player Of The Game.

 

ON DECK: The 417 Bus Line U11 Red Devils are back to league play with two home games this weekend. They take on the Central Ontario Wolves on Saturday in Marmora at 1:30PM and Sunday they are in Belleville (CAA) at 1:30PM against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders.

The McInroy Maines QRD U18 team took two wins this week out of the three games on the schedule. 

Starting the week with a mid-week game at home hosting Kingston. After falling behind 0-1 to the Gaels QRD found the net in the second and third set to topple to score in their favour and securing a definitive 8-2 win. Scoring in the second period was Nolan Donnelly, Evan Erwin and Brody Nielissen (2) with assists coming from Nielissen, Deke Osterhout(3), Erwin and Kaden Byne. Scoring for the Devils in the final set of the game were Avery Wease, Connor Weido, Erwin and Mason Musclow. Assisting in the third were Donnelly, Weido, Sam Thompson, Osterhout and Sammy Longo. Benjamin Lind-Milekvist was in net for the win. 

Game two had the U18s on the road to Peterborough to face the Petes at the Memorial Centre. The Devils opened the scoring in the first with a shot from Byne on the set up from Weido and Deacon Ellis. The second period saw Wease add to the lead, assisted by Weido and Isaac Krentz. While the Petes battled hard in the third, Musclow added the game winner on the set up from Longo to take the 3-2 win. Ryan Jacobs was between the pipes for the win. 

The final game of the week had the team host the Central Ontario Wolves on Sunday. This game did not go in the Devils' favour of Devils. Despite a hat trick from Erwin, QRD took a 3-6 loss. Assisting in the game were Byne, Ellis, Osterhout and Nielissen. The goaltending duties were shared by both goalies.

The Free Flow Petroleum Devils Grab 4 of 6 League Points

 

The U16 Free Flow Petroleum Devils put on a scoring clinic in their first two games of the week, beating the Clarington Toros 12-0 on Tuesday and the Central Ontario Wolves 8-0 on Wednesday. 

 

Goals against the Toros courtesy of Liam Campbell (3), Maddox Dagenais (3), Matthew Airthart (2), Jean-Cristoph Lemieux (2), Ryan Kinghan, and Sterling Poff. Assists came from Airhart (3), Campbell (2), Rhett Colson (2), Dagenais (2), Liam Grant (2), Noah Lesser, Jacob Moore (2), Lucas Ferguson, Mickael Fournier, Poff. Scoring against the Wolves was Airhart (2), Dagenais (2), Lemieux (2), Campbell, and Ferguson, while helpers came from Dagenais (4), Lemieux (2), Fournier, Grant, Matt Hicks, Kinghan, and Moore. Noah Groeneveld earned the back-to-back shutouts in net.

 

Saturday, the Devils hosted York Simcoe but would fall short. Dagenais (Campbell and Fournier) scored twice but York Simcoe notched points throughout the game and sealed the deal with an empty net goal at the end of the third. Otsirakatste Brant took the 5-2 loss between the pipes.

 

ON DECK: The Free Flow Petroleum Devils are the host team for the OMHA East U16 Showcase this weekend at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. They will play the Markham Waxers Saturday at 930AM and the Ajax-Pickering Raiders Sunday at 3PM.

Bad penalties, including four in the third period, and several missed opportunities resulted in a tough OT loss after the Red Devils dominated play in all three periods.

One Win in League Play this Week for the Gillespie’s Tree Services Devils

 

The U14 Gillespie’s Tree Services Quinte Red Devils had a light week with only one game against the Kingston Jr. Gaels to finish off the season series with them. After a hard fought back and forth game the Devils were victorious with a 5-4 win, Ferriss got the win in net. The goals came from Clow (2), M. Aird, Laurin and Whelan, helpers were added by B. Aird (2), Minifie (2), Dahle, Seguin, Harold and Whelan. 

 

ON DECK: The squad has the week off this week to prepare for the final two games of the season and playoffs.

Four of Six Points for the the Madison Excavating Devils this Week


In an intense match-up this past Friday night, the Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils travelled to Kingston to face the Jr. Gaels. The first period saw both teams battling fiercely, but neither could find the back of the net. The second period, however, exploded with action. Kingston seized an early lead with a goal, only to be quickly answered by an equalizer from Quinte, just thirty-seven seconds later. Kingston retaliated, netting two more goals within a minute. The Devils then responded with a second goal before the second frame ended. Going into the third period, the score was 3-2 in favour of the Gaels. Quinte made a stunning comeback, scoring four consecutive goals and emerging victorious with a final score of 6-3. 

 

In a tightly contested game on Saturday afternoon in Woodville, the Devils faced off against the Central Ontario Wolves. The Wolves took an early lead with a goal midway through the first period. The second period saw the Wolves extending their advantage with another goal, only to face a swift response from Quinte, just over two minutes later. Despite intense play in the third period, no additional goals were scored, leading to a 2-1 loss for the Devils.

 

On Sunday afternoon in Madoc, the Devils came out strong in a follow-up clash with the Wolves. The Devils secured an early lead with a goal under five minutes into the game. The offensive momentum continued as Quinte netted their second goal just over two minutes later. Despite a hard-fought second period that nearly went goalless, Central Ontario managed to break the shutout with a goal just twenty-three seconds before the buzzer, narrowing the score to 2-1 in favour of the Devils. No goals were scored in the third, and Quinte emerged triumphant with a final score of 2-1. 


Coach’s Corner with Head Coach, Evan Osterhout: “The team showed some real character this week. Coming back from two goals down on Friday and tough battles on Saturday and Sunday were a testament to the players’ never-give-up attitude.”
