The Environmental 360 Solutions U16 AAA Quinte Red Devils stretch win streak to four...

Nate Rashotte, Mac Chisholm, Ryan Foley and Chase Cybulskie each counted a goal and an assist while Cole Rowat rounded out the Red Devil’s scoring as they won their fourth game in-a-row, dropping the Markham Waxers 5-4 at the CAA Arena Sunday.  Quinte, now 16-6-2-and-1, still own fourth place in the OMHA East.  They trail third-place Ajax-Pickering Raiders by four points and sit just six points out of first.

The Devils trailed 2-0 after the first period but rebounded with three goals in the second set to even the count 3-3 heading into the third.  Chisholm’s goal early in the last frame shot Quinte ahead 4-3 before Cybulskie’s marker at 9:35 took Markham out of it, putting the game out of reach at 5-3.  The Waxers scored once more, in the final minutes of the match, but it wouldn’t be enough to force overtime.  Lily Reid was in net for the victory while Seth Scaletta pitched in with a pair of assists.  Single helpers went to Blake Munnings, Isaac Tracze, Ryan Sherwin and Wyatt Whalen.

Last Thursday Quinte dumped Kingston with their third consecutive victory, completing a three-game regular season sweep of the Gaels by a 3-1 margin at the CAA.  Ayden Mullen came to within 2:30 of blanking Kingston but had his chance at the shutout ruined with Quinte in front 2-0 as time wound down in the third period.  After the Gaels had cut the Devils’ lead in half Kingston pulled their goalie in favour of the extra attacker, but the play backfired when Sherwin’s empty netter iced it at 3-1 with 31 seconds to go.  Scaletta and Tracze assisted on Quinte’s final goal while Scaletta initiated a two-point night in the second period, picking up the lone helper on Nick Colson’s powerplay marker at 12:15 to give the winners a 1-0 lead.  Foley then gave Quinte the eventual victory, making it a 2-0 game 13:11 into the third frame with Ty Leavitt and Munnings assisting.

On Deck...on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 8:15 on the FDC pad the Devils faceoff with the fifth-place Peterborough Petes, who linger six points back of Quinte.  The following Saturday the Whitby Wildcats play host to the Devils, then the Wildcats come to Quinte the next afternoon for a 1:30 game at the CAA.

The Gillespie's Tree Service U15 AAA Quinte Red Devils had a very important week looking for two wins to help them continue their climb up the OMHA East standings. In a late Wednesday contest the Central Ontario Wolves came to town for a battle of top 5 teams. The U15's offence got rolling early and often in what turned into a one-sided contest. Andrew Laurin got the ball rolling tipping in a Brechen Aird blast from the point. Ewan Dahle also picked up a helper on the play. Shortly thereafter, Dahle forced a turnover along the wall and fed Laurin for his second of the game. Laurin finished off the natural hat trick in style taking a Jack Sutton bank pass top shelf while killing a 5 on 3 man advantage for COW. As the 5 on 4 portion of the COW power play was finishing Jack Beebe forced a turnover and hit Austin Preston up the wall and he buried the 4th of the night for QRD. Trent Clow was next to find the scoresheet as Dahle forced another turnover and fed him in the slot to put the home side up 5-0. COW would get one back before Andrew Dewar closed out the scoring in the second period. Jax Martin and John Korver picked up helpers as well. A fairly tame third period by comparison saw the U15 squad find the back of the net one more time as Lawson Minifie rounded out the scoring after a nice series of passes from Beebe and Martin. Rory Young was solid in the cage picking up the win. Saturday saw the York Simcoe Express make their only trip to Quinte to finish off that regular season series. The tight checking game was everything you would expect in with both teams wanting the valuable two points on offer. The home side got things started on a 5 on 3 power play as Trent Clow buried a cross ice feed from Lawson Minifie to go up 1-0. Andrew Laurin also picked up an assist on the play. Ewan Dahle doubled the lead very early in the 2nd frame picking up a Clow faceoff win and burying it while fending off two Express players down low. York Simcoe would get one back in the 3rd frame, but that was as close as they would get as Nathan Ferriss slammed the door allowing Quinte to pick up their 4th straight league win.

This week sees a pair of weekend games as the squad hosts the Kingston Jr Gaels in their first meeting of the regular season at the Wellness Centre on the Mackay pad Saturday at 3:45. Sunday sees a road trip to Peterborough for the rubber match in that season series. Puck drop is at 7:30 in the Healthy Planet arena and for those following along at home this game is available to stream on LiveBarn.

Madison Excavating U13 AAA Quinte Red Devils Shine in First U. S. Tournament at the Buffalo Cup

The AAA Buffalo Cup 2025 Tournament Recap: January 17th-January 19th

The Madison Excavating QRD U13s had an exciting weekend, travelling out of country to Buffalo, NY and competing in their first U. S. tournament. They also had the unique experience of playing a game on an outdoor rink. The QRD U13s finished with a 3-1-0 record after round-robin play. The results were not enough for the team to advance, but it was an incredibly successful weekend overall.
Friday, January 17th: Game 1
On Friday afternoon, the Madison Excavating QRD U13s kicked off the tournament in a high-tempo matchup with the South Shore Kings from Massachusetts. The first period was scoreless, with QRD’s Ben Larmer standing tall in net and turning away numerous chances. In the second, Coulter Watson broke the ice for QRD, finishing a setup from Robbie Robinson. South Shore responded with authority, netting four, including two powerplay markers. Quinte’s Everett Brown cut the deficit with a solo effort in the third, but the Kings iced it with an empty-netter, sealing a 5-2 loss for QRD

Friday, January 17th: Game 2
That evening, in their first-ever outdoor game, the U13 Quinte Red Devils edged the Red Bank Generals from New Jersey in a tightly contested battle. The Generals opened the scoring in the first frame, but QRD’s Robbie Robinson responded less than a minute later with an unassisted tally. The second period featured no goals, but plenty of chances from both sides. Early in the third, Everett Brown buried the game-winner unassisted, sealing a 2-1 victory for Quinte. Hayden Tripp was stellar in net, anchoring the team to the win.

Saturday, January 18th: Game 3
On Saturday morning, QRD cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bulls with a dominant performance. QRD’s Kade Osterhout opened the scoring in the first period, finishing a feed from Everett Brown. In the second, the duo reversed roles, with Brown burying a setup from Osterhout. The Bulls responded shortly after, but couldn’t break through QRD’s defense again. The third period was all Quinte, with Coulter Watson (unassisted), Dylan Chalk (unassisted), and Kaiden Sprackett (assisted by Watson) lighting the lamp. Ben Larmer was rock-solid in net, helping to seal the win.

Saturday, January 18th: Game 4
In what would be the team’s final game of the weekend, QRD dominated the Syracuse Nationals on Saturday night. QRD’s Everett Brown opened the scoring in the first, assisted by Cooper Plumley and Kade Osterhout. A few minutes later, Blake Sills capitalized on a feed from Max Bucknell. In the second, Dylan Chalk buried a shorthanded goal, set up by Bucknell. Syracuse struck back with their first, but Brown answered with his second, assisted by Osterhout. In the final frame, Osterhout (assisted by Brown) and Bucknell (unassisted) each found the back of the net. Hayden Tripp worked hard between the pipes, helping to secure the 6-2 win for QRD.

In spite of some solid team play and excellent results, QRD did not advance in the tournament.

Next Up: Thursday, January 23rd at 7:00 pm vs. Greater Kingston Jr. Gaels (Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre in Belleville - Mackay Insurance Pad), followed by a game on Saturday, January 25th at 12:30 pm vs. Ajax-Pickering Raiders (Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre in Belleville - Mackay Insurance Pad).

Breakaway Fuels U11 AAA Quinte Red Devils Drop a Game in League Play

The Breakaway Fuels U11 Red Devils had a busy week playing 4 games in 4 days.

The week started on Thursday night with a home game at RCAF arena versus the Jr Gaels from Kingston.  This was a tight checking affair with scores of 1-0 after the first and 2-1 after the second.  The Devils would open things up in the third and finish with a 4-1 victory.  Scoring for the Devils were Ethan Dowling, Kai Mackie, Evan VanEgmond and Jackson Simpson.  Assists went to Mackie, Charlie Dwyer, Jayden Stehlik, Wade Robinson, Silas Templar, Kolton Solmes and Reid Haley.  Jordan Andrews picked up the win in net and Stehlik took home the game Fork.

Saturday the kids headed to Inglewood to play an exhibition doubleheader against the Huron Perth Lakers.  Game one started quick when Mackie scored from Dowling just five seconds in.  Unfortunately the Lakers would score 4 unanswered before Tripp Plumley would snap one home with just over four minutes left to play.  Sixteen seconds later Ryder Bradford would bring the Devils within one with assist to Mackie.  Despite some late game chances the Lakers took the game 4-3.  Deacon Vos made some outstanding saves to give his team a chance to comeback.  Bradford would take home player of the game.

Just 90 minutes later the teams squared off again.  This time the first was scoreless.  The Lakers scored midway through the second to take a 1-0 lead into the third.  Simpson from Dowling would even the score before Stehlik from VanEgmond and Templar would give the Breakaway Fuels Boys a 2-1 lead.  A late penalty put the Devils down a man and with Lakers goalie out they faced a flurry of action at 6 on 4.  Jordan Andrews made some great stops but just as the penalty ended the Lakers found the back of the net with just 23 seconds left in the game.  This one ended in a 2-2 tie.  Greyson Rennie took home player of the game.

Sunday had the young Devils back in their vehicles and off to Whitby for a tilt with the Wildcats.  Unfortunately the team started slow and couldn't get anything going against an always tough Whitby team.  The Wildcats would score 11 seconds in and go on to score 4 straight over the game before Kolton Solmes found the back of the net with just over one minute remaining but it was too little too late.  Deacon Vos did all he could to keep his team within reach but didn't get much support in this one and the Wildcats skated to a 4-1 win.

On Deck:  The U11 team heads to St Andrews to take on the York Simcoe Express on Saturday before a home game next Sunday against the North Shore Whitecaps in Madoc at 2pm.

The Free Flow Petroleum U10 AAA Quinte Red Devils Pick Up 2 Points on the Weekend

The Free Flow Petroleum QRD U10 Red Devils faced the Peterborough Petes in their only game of the weekend.
On Saturday, The Red Devils hosted The Peterborough Petes at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, with Finn Harvey between the pipes. Daniel Lalonde opened the scoring with just under 6 minutes left in the first period. The Petes quickly answered back, scoring 30 seconds later, seeing the frame end 1-1. The Petes struck first in the second period with a power play goal. Austin Baily answered back, finding the back of the net for Quinte, with Blake Unger and Hudson Silverburg picking up assists on the goal. The Petes would score once more before the end of the period, seeing it 3-2 Petes heading into the final frame. Quinte fought back, with Austin Baily picking up his second goal of the game early in the third. Mason Cooke, on a pass from Felix Charbonneau, went on to earn Quinte’s lead in the game. FInn Harvey made several key saves, including a show stopping glove save, and also kept the door firmly closed during a 6 on 4 during the final minute of play, to see the game end 4-3.
Devils of the Game: Finn Harvey and Austin Baily
