QUINTE RED DEVILS WEEKLY REPORT - February 9, 2026
It was a standout week for the Quinte Red Devils, highlighted by the organization proudly hosting the OMHA East U16AAA Showcase at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre from February 6–8. The event welcomed all 11 OMHA East U16AAA teams and showcased some of the province’s top talent as players continue to prepare for the upcoming OHL Priority Selection. The weekend featured high-level competition, strong crowds, and an excellent atmosphere, further cementing Quinte’s reputation as a premier host for elite hockey events. On the ice, QRD teams were active across multiple age groups, with some squads pushing through busy stretches of league play while others continued to build momentum late in the regular season.

U16 – HockeyStickMan Quinte Red Devils

The HockeyStickMan U16 Red Devils closed out their regular season in dramatic fashion, securing first place in the OMHA East and doing so on home ice during the OMHA East U16AAA Showcase weekend.

Thursday vs. Kingston Jr. Gaels (8–1 win)
Quinte came out flying, scoring eight unanswered goals to take full control. Lawson Minifie opened the scoring off a feed from Austin Pettey, followed by goals from Ewan Dahle, Coen Lowry, Andrew Laurin, Trent Clow, Austin Preston, and Lauchlan Whelan. Minifie capped the night with his second of the game as QRD cruised to a statement win.

Saturday vs. York-Simcoe Express (2–2 tie)
In a must-win matchup during showcase play, QRD rallied from an early deficit. Lauchlan Whelan intercepted a breakout pass and set up Dahle to even the score, before Laurin and Whelan connected again to give Quinte the lead. York-Simcoe tied the game early in the third, and the teams battled through overtime, earning QRD a crucial point.

Sunday vs. Barrie Colts (3–2 win)
With first place on the line, the Devils delivered under pressure. After a scoreless two periods, Andrew Laurin set up Whelan to open the scoring.
