Saturday, March 18th, @ Whitby Wildcats
The Madison Excavating U11 Quinte Red Devils have won their sixth straight playoff game.
The U11s travelled to Whitby on Saturday afternoon for a match-up against the Wildcats. The first period saw some back and forth action, however, neither team was able to net a goal. The Wildcats struck first with a powerplay marker, when they banged in a rebound a little over six minutes into the second. The score would remain 1-0 for the Wildcats going into the final period. Just over a minute in, Blake Sills found the back of the net, off a Hewett Tejnor point shot, tying the game at 1-1. With over thirteen minutes to go, both teams had ample opportunity to take the lead. But, it was about three and half minutes after QRD’s first goal of the game, when Cooper Plumley scored a bar down game-winner, securing the win for the Devils. Between the pipes, Hayden Tripp made some solid saves to help keep the team on top.
Coach’s Corner with Head Coach Andrew Brown:
“Very proud of the kids’ effort in our last playoff game. We worked to maintain good habits, and continue to drive our way towards the OMHA championship weekend.”
