Free Flow Petroleum U10 AAA team traveled to Hamilton this weekend to compete in the 32nd Annual Hamilton Steel Classic.
On Friday morning, the U10s faced off against the Cambridge Hawks, with Finn Harvey opening the tournament between the pipes. In a strong offensive game, the Red Devils picked up a 12-1 win. Goals were scored by Pearce McCormick (3), Jase Sage (2), Walker Elrick (2), Mason Cooke, Beckham Nightingale (2), Bentley May and Bodhi Yearwood. On Friday afternoon the Red Devils came out flying against the Credit River Capitals earning a 8-3 win, with Emerson Courtney in net. Goals were scored by Beckham Nightingale (2), Miles Garrison, Mason Cooke (2), Bodhi Yearwood, Felix Charbonneau and Jase Sage. Austin Baily, Miles Garrison, Beckham Nightingale, Hudson Silverburg, Daniel Lalonde, Blake Unger and Mason Cooke all picked up assists in the game.Devil of the Game: Beckham Nightingale
On Saturday, the Red Devils would start the day against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, with Finn Harvey in net. The score held at 1-0, with the Sabres leading, heading into the 3rd period. Bentley May, assisted by Pearce McCormick scored the lone goal for Quinte in the 3rd, with the game ending in a 1-3 loss.
Saturday closed out in a tight game against the Brantford 99ers, seeing Emerson Courtney solidly between the pipes. Brantford opened scoring in the 2nd period, with Quinte answering back on a power play goal by Blake Unger, assisted by Daniel Lalonde, in the 3rd period. The score remained 1-1 at the final buzzer. Play-off Sunday brought a rematch against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in the semi-finals. Finn Harvey was solid between the pipes, making great saves through 3 periods. Beckham Nightingale, from Mason Kolga and Blake Unger, found the back of the net on a power play in the 2nd period, ending regulation in a 1-1 draw. Quinte went on to battle hard in overtime play, but Buffalo scored first, ending the game 2-1. Devil of the Game: Finn Harvey
On Deck: The U10 Red Devils have a busy weekend, travelling to Peterborough on Saturday to face the Petes at 1:15pm, followed by a double header at home in Madoc against the Markham Waxers on Sunday (puck drop: 12pm and 4:30pm).
