Back to Back 4-2 Wins for the U11's
This weekend saw the Breakaway Fuels U11 Red Devils get back to back 4-2 wins. One at home and one on the road.
Saturday the Central Ontario Wolves battled some weather to get to the Keeler Centre in Colborne to play the young Devils. As is always the case this one was a hard fought battle from start to finish. The Devils managed to get an early lead on a goal from Kai Mackie on the first shift with assists going to Jackson Simpson and Jared Russell.
Mackie would strike again three minutes into the second to extend the lead with Simpson and Ethan Dowling grabbing helpers. Simpson from Mackie and Ryder Bradford would make it 3-0 with five minutes left in the middle frame. Central would score later in the second to make it 3-1. Mackie wold complete the hat trick 34 seconds into the third with Simpson and Bradford drawing assists. Central managed one more goal to end the game 4-2. Mackie was named player of the game and Deacon Vos got the win with several big saves during the game.
Sunday the team travelled to Peterborough for an evening game against the Petes. This one was another hard fought battle from start to finish with the Devils needing an empty net goal to secure the 4-2 win. Scoring in this one was done by Mackie (2), Simpson and Evan VanEgmond. Assists went to Kolton Solmes, Greyson Rennie, Jared Russell, Silas Templar and Mackie. Jordan Andrews was solid in net for the victory. Greyson Rennie was named player of the game for a solid 40 minute effort.
On deck has the Breakaway Boys heading to Sarnia for the Silver Stick tournament. First game is Thursday night against London Jr Knights.
