The Quinte U11 Red Devils got back to their winning ways this weekend with two big league wins this weekend.
On Saturday the young Devils headed to St Andrews College for a game against the York Simcoe Express. The first period was a slow start for the Devils and saw the Express strike first and take a 1-0 lead into the second period. The Devils seemed to shake off their travel legs and scored twice in the second to take a 2-1 lead into the third. Scoring in the second was Kai Mackie (Kolton Solmes, Evan VanEgmond) and Solmes (Mackie). The boys would open things up in the third with five goals to York Simcoe's one goal and secured a 7-2 win. Scoring in the third period was Jayden Stehlik (2), Avery Thickson, VanEgmond and Mackie. Assists wend to Jackson Simpson, Ryder Bradford, Thickson, Reid Haley, Solmes, Tripp Plumley and Charlie Dwyer. Jordan Andrews picked up the win in net and Avery Thickson took home the Devils fork for player of the game.
On Sunday the Breakaway Boys headed to Madoc for their first home game there this year. Their opponent would be the always tough North Shore Whitecaps. The young devils picked up where they left off at St Andrews and would score two goals in the first period, five in the second and two more in the third to finish the weekend with a convincing 9-2 win. Scoring in this one was Simpson (3), Stehlik (3), Mackie, Solmes and VanEgmond. Assists went to Ethan Dowling (3), Reid Haley (2), Greyson Rennie (2), Plumely (2), Mackie (2), Solmes, Simpson, Mackie, Wade Robinson, VanEgmond, and Thickson. Deacon Vos had a solid game in the pipes picking up the win.
The whole team was awarded the Devils fork for a solid 40 minute effort.
On Deck: The U11's are headed to Barrie for the Colts annual tournament with games starting Friday morning.
