The Madison Excavating U13 Season Comes to a Close
The Madison Excavating U13 Quinte Red Devils’ season has come to an end, and for the first time since the 2012s began their journey, the team was unable to advance to OMHAs. While there is disappointment in not moving forward, the team would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many individuals who made a difference this season . . .

First and foremost, thank you to Head Coach Andrew Brown, and Assistant Coaches Kaelan Fraser, Tyler Green, and Karsten Leonard for the countless hours they dedicated to the team, always maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude. A sincere thank you also goes out to Trainer, David Tejnor, whose hard work and commitment have been invaluable. Special thanks to Team Manager, James Larmer, for his organization and dedication in keeping the team running smoothly, as well as to Kim Sills for managing the social media accounts, and Justine Bucknell for running the TeamSnap account. The devotion of all the adults involved in this team has been truly remarkable.

Wishing all of the U13s the very best as they shift their focus to tryouts for next season!

Tuesday, March 18th, vs. Central Ontario Wolves

It was a hard-fought tilt on Tuesday night on home ice against the Central Ontario Wolves, with both teams battling through a scoreless first period. Early in the second, QRD’s Jack Seeney broke the deadlock on the power play, burying a feed from Blake McManus. With under two minutes left in the frame, the Wolves responded, knotting things up at one. The game remained tight until the dying minutes of the third, when COW found the back of the net with just under three minutes remaining, sealing a 2-1 win. Between the pipes, Ben Larmer turned away countless chances, helping to keep his team in the fight.

Saturday, March 22nd, @ North Central Predators

In Rama on Saturday afternoon, the Devils put up a fight, but couldn’t complete the comeback against the North Central Predators. The Predators struck early, finding the back of the net just two minutes in. They added another in the second and a power play tally in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Quinte then battled back with two quick goals of their own. Everett Brown broke free and buried one, assisted by Blake McManus and Robbie Robinson, while Kaiden Sprackett sniped an unassisted power play marker. Despite the late surge, QRD couldn’t find the equalizer. QRD goaltender, Hayden Tripp, stood tall, making key saves to keep the game close.

Sunday, March 23rd, @ York-Simcoe Express

In the final game of the season, the U13 QRDs travelled to Aurora for a matchup with the York-Simcoe Express. The Devils battled hard but came up short in a 3-1 loss to the Express. YSE opened the scoring in the first and added two more in the second to take control of the game. Despite the deficit, QRD kept pushing. With just forty-one seconds left in the third, Everett Brown found the back of the net, finishing a setup from Robbie Robinson and Hewett Tejnor. Between the pipes, Ben Larmer made countless saves, helping to keep the game within reach.
