The Gillespie's Tree Service U15 Red Devils went 1-1 at home this week.
The U15 Red Devils got their week started with a rare mid-week contest with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. After giving up an early goal and get into a 1-0 hole, the offense kicked into high gear. Andrew Laurin got the equalizer shortly after with assists going to Lauchlan Whelan and Brechyn Aird. An unassisted effort from Andrew Dewar after a turnover in the neutral zone gave the Red Devils the lead and they never looked back from there. Trent Clow set up Aird for a shot from the point and Ewan Dahle knocked in the rebound on the power play for the 3rd goal of the game. Clow then tallied one himself from Dahle, and Laurin added his second of the game from Whelan and Spencer Harold on the PP. Lawson Minifie added another on a nice wraparound after a pass from Clow to take a 6-1 lead into the 2nd intermission. Aird got things rolling in the 3rd on the power play from Clow and Dahle before Ajax-Pickering would get one back. Unfazed, Quinte would keep the pressure up and Minifie would add his second of the game on a nice end to end rush bringing the final tally to 8-2 for the Red Devils. Rory Young picked up the win between the pipes.
The league leading Barrie Colts came to town on Saturday afternoon for a top-3 match-up. The game was everything one would expect between two top tier teams and stayed scoreless through 2 periods. The Colts jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the 3rd. The lead was short-lived with Trent Clow pulling a draw back to Jack Sutton who put the puck on net and the goalie left a rebound on the doorstep for John Korver to net the equalizer. The Colts would take the lead back, but Lauchlan Whelan would tie it up again putting in a rebound off a Noah Kennedy shot from a tough angle. Nothing would get solved by the end of regulation and the squad was off to overtime for the first time this season. Unfortunately Barrie would get the next goal and take the win but QRD still managed to pick up a valuable point in the season standings.

The action kicks off on Friday with games against Okanagan Ontario and the Markham Waxers and preliminary play finishes up on Saturday with games against the host Vaughn Kings and a late night test with Upper Canada College Blue.
