The Environmental 360 Solutions U16 AAA Red Devils utilized three different ice pads at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre last week to host a three-game home stand that included a pair of weekend games against the first-place Barrie Colts.
The third-place Red Devils went 0-1-and-2 during the home stretch, first skating to a 1-1 tie with the North Shore Whitecaps on Wednesday. Quinte then equaled Barrie 3-3, Saturday, before dropping a 5-3 decision to the Colts the following afternoon.
At the CAA Arena, Sunday, the Red Devils scored once in each period with all three goals erasing one-goal Barrie leads. Quinte trailed 2-1 after the first period and 3-2 following two sets before Ty Leavitt’s tally at 3:27 of the third evened the count 3-3. The Colts finally went ahead for good at 7:26 then just over eight minutes later Barrie added an insurance marker to make it a 5-3 final. Mac Chisholm and Chase Cybulskie had the other Red Devil goals with Cybulskie, Leavitt, Ryan Foley and Ryan Sherwin grabbing assists.
In Saturday’s tie game on the Mackay padNateRashotte was in on all three Red Devil goals, scoring twice before assisting on Chisholm’s goal with 40 seconds left to play in regulation time to knot it 3-3.Leavitt also assisted on the play. Chisholm picked up a helper on Quinte’s second marker while BlakeMunnings and Cole Rowat chipped in with an assist each on Rashotte’spowerplay goal to open the scoring in the first period. The teams were even 1-1 after the first period then Barrie carried a 2-1 lead into the third.
Last Wednesday on the FDC ice sheet, the Red Devils neededRowat’s goal at 11:01 of the third period to get the 1-1 drawwith North Shore. After two scoreless periods the Whitecaps jumped in front 1-0 on the powerplay just over seven minutes before Rowat’s marker.
Ayden Mullen and Lily Reid split Quinte’s goaltending duties with Mullen facing North Shore and Barrie in Sunday’s encounter. Reid got the 3-all tie against Barrie.
The Red Devils wore pink uniformsfor all three gamesas part of their ‘Pink in the Rink’ event to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
