Henry Fisher scored once in the second period and again in the third for the Environmental 360 Solutions U16 Red Devils after Nate Rashotte netted the eventual winner at 7:58 of the first frame as Quinte shutout the Junior Gaels 5-0 in Kingston Thursday.
After Fisher’s first goal made it 2-0 at 12:15 of the middle period Pierson Clute upped the Devils lead to three with five seconds remaining in the set.  Fisher then put Quinte up 4-0 before Mac Chisholm capped off the winning team’s scoring just 57 seconds later.  Chisholm also had three assists with single helpers going to Fisher, Ryan Sherwin, Isaac Tracze and Wyatt Whalen.  Lily Reid registered her second shutout of the season; her first perfect game came in early November in a 5-0 win over Team Northern Ontario-1 at the Showcase Crossover.
The game was the Devils’ last of the regular season prior to breaking for Christmas.  They’ll enter 2025 in third place in the OMHA East Conference with 27 points on a 12-5-2-and-1 record.  They’re currently four points behind both Ajax-Pickering and York-Simcoe who are tied for second, while they hold a four-point lead on fourth-place Peterborough.  On Saturday Ajax-Pickering lost 4-3 in Peterborough before winning 3-0 at home over York-Simcoe the following night.  Front-running Barrie sits one point up on the second-place teams and have won their last nine games.
ON Deck...The Red Devils will close out 2024 in Etobicoke from December 27-30 at the 30th annual Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic.  The U-16 group is comprised of 49 teams divided into two conferences of five divisions each with round-robin action going on opening-day Friday and continuing through Saturday and into Sunday.  Playoffs take place Sunday and Monday.  Quinte opens the tournament with a pair of Friday games against the Brantford 99ers and Eastern Ontario Wild then finish up the round-robin when they face the Burlington Eagles and Don Mills Flyers on Saturday.
