QRD Attends Marlies Holiday Classic
The Environmental 360 Solutions U16 Red Devils opened 2025 losing to the North Shore Whitecaps in Bowmanville Sunday after going 2-and-2 at the 30th annual Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic on the final weekend of 2024.

The Environmental 360 Solutions U16 Red Devils opened 2025 losing to the North Shore Whitecaps in Bowmanville Sunday after going 2-and-2 at the 30th annual Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic on the final weekend of 2024.
The Devils regular season record dipped to 12-6-2-and-1 with the loss to North Shore and allowed the Peterborough Petes to climb into a third-place tie with Quinte, both sitting at 27 points.  Ajax Pickering Raiders and York-Simcoe Express are even with 33 points in second place, one point behind the Barrie Colts.  Ty Leavitt scored for the Devils in the first period against the Whitecaps and Nate Rashotte scored one in the third, but a big three-goal second period by North Shore gave them a 4-1 lead and put it out of reach.  Mac Chisholm, Ryan Foley and Henry Fisher had assists for Quinte.
The previous weekend the GTHL’s Don Mills Flyers won the Marlies Holiday Classic with a perfect 8-and-0 record while the Red Devils split four round-robin games at the four-day tournament that took place from December 27-30 at various rinks around west-end Toronto.  This year’s event hosted 101 teams playing in four different age groups, with 49 of them participating in the U16 group.  The Red Devils went 2-and-2 through round-robin, finishing third in their five-team division behind Don Mills and the Eastern Ontario Wild, two-points shy of playoff contention.  On Friday Quinte doubled up on the Brantford 99ers 4-2, then they were shutout 2-0 by Eastern Ontario before opening Saturday with an impressive 6-0 demolition of the Burlington Eagles.  Later that afternoon Don Mills ended Quinte’s hopes of advancing to the playoff round with a sound 7-1 beating of the Devils.  Quinte’s lone goal against the eventual-champion Flyers was the only goal Don Mills gave up in their four round-robin games.
On Friday, powerplay goals in the first period by Nate Rashotte and Chase Cybulskie gave the Red Devils a 2-0 lead in their opening game against Branford before second-period tallies from Peirson Clute and Isaac Tracze lifted them to the 4-2 win.  Counting assists for the Devils were Ryan Foley, Henry Fisher, Ryan Sherwin, Blake Munnings, Mac Chisholm, Rashotte and Cybulskie.  A few hours later Quinte fell 2-0 to Eastern Ontario but they rebounded Saturday morning with the 6-0 trouncing of Burlington.  The Devils held period leads of 2-0 and 5-0 with Munnings netting the winner just 1:35 into the game.  Foley (2), Tracze, Chisholm and Rashotte had the winner’s other goals.  Munnings, Foley, Chisholm and Rashotte also picked up an assist apiece while Leavitt assisted twice.  Coughlin, Gawley, Whalen and Rowat had a helper each.  In the 7-1 loss to Don Mills, the Devils trailed 4-0 following the first period and 6-0 after the second before Chisholm got Quinte on the board with their only goal coming in the final period.
When he stonewalled Burlington, Quinte’s Ayden Mullen registered one of an astonishing 41 shutouts recorded in the U16 group.  Don Mills had five shutouts and finished up the tourney with a 3-0 victory over the Toronto Jr. Canadians in Monday’s championship game.
On Deck...The Red Devils are in Kingston this Thursday (Jan. 9) for an 8:30 date with the last-place Gaels at the Invista Centre to complete a 7-game regular-season road stretch.  The Devils finally return to Belleville ice on Saturday at 5:30 on the CAA pad against York-Simcoe.  The following Tuesday the 2-and-17 Gaels face Quinte at the CAA at 8:15.
