The Wolves struck first in the opening frame, capitalizing early to take a 1–0 lead into the intermission.
In the second period, Central Ontario found a gap during a Quinte bench change and turned it into a breakaway marker, extending their lead to 2–0. But the Red Devils didn’t fold. Quinte kept pressing, taking their first lead at 3–2. With 2:30 left in the period, the Devils headed to the penalty box, but their penalty kill came up huge, not only shutting things down but striking shorthanded to make it 4–2 heading into the break.
The Wolves pushed back early in the third, narrowing the gap to 4–3. Quinte responded immediately, restoring the two-goal cushion at 5–3.
A massive moment came when the QRD goalie denied a dangerous 2-on-0, preserving the lead and keeping momentum on their side. Another Quinte penalty put them back on the kill, but once again they shut it down and converted shortly after returning to full strength, moving ahead 6–3. The Wolves clawed back with a breakaway goal to make it 6–4, but the Red Devils closed the door with one more tally, sealing a 7–4 victory.
