The U10 BIHC Quinte Red Devils put together an exciting and resilient weekend of hockey, going undefeated in round-robin play with three wins and a tie. Their strong performance earned them a spot in the semi finals, which, despite a hard-fought effort, didn’t end the way they had hoped.
Friday, December 5 – Game 1
QRD 3 -- Credit River Capitals 2
QRD battled back after an early 2–0 deficit, tying the game in the third before finishing it off with a smooth team effort goal. A late penalty added pressure, but QRD held strong for a well-earned comeback win.
Friday, December 5 – Game 2
QRD 9 -- Huron Perth Lakers 4
After going down 3–0, QRD flipped the script completely—scoring late in the first and exploding for a massive second period. They tied it, took the lead, and never let up, adding two more in the third to close out a dominant 9–4 victory.
Saturday, December 6 – Game 3
QRD 3 -- Hamilton Steel 3
QRD opened with strong puck movement, but a defensive battle kept it scoreless early. They built a 2–0 lead in the second before the Steel clawed back. QRD regained the lead with a beautiful tip-in, but a late penalty allowed Hamilton to even the game, ending in a tight 3–3 draw.
Saturday, December 6 – Game 4
QRD 6 -- Cambridge Hawks 0
Quinte came out flying, stacking up a 3–0 lead in the first with crisp passing and relentless pressure. Their two-way play carried through the second as they extended the lead to 5–0. A composed third period and one more buried shot secured a commanding 6–0 shutout to close the robin round.
Semi-Final – Sunday, December 7
QRD 0 -- Toronto Titans 2
QRD came out strong, trading chances with the Titans through a scoreless first. The pressure continued in the second, but neither side could break through. An unlucky bounce put Toronto up 1–0 midway through the third. QRD pulled the goalie for a final push, but the Titans added one more to take it 2–0. The scoreboard doesn’t tell the real story—QRD played with heart, grit, and growth all weekend. Huge strides, big effort, and plenty to be proud of!
