The U11 Red Devils wrapped up November with 2 games on the weekend, showcasing special teams play on Saturday before battling a tough Markham squad on Sunday.
The U11s headed to Peterborough on Saturday afternoon to face off against the Petes, with goaltender Aiden Ferreira in net. Quinte was tested early, as the Devils fell into a 0-2 deficit. However, the momentum shifted as the Petes ran into some penalty trouble, leading to 5 power play goals for Quinte. Unger and Elrick, each netted two goals with May adding a fifth. Chipping in with assists were White (2), Cooke (2), and Withers. This saw Quinte leading 5-4 in the final minutes, with the Petes pulling their goalie for the extra attacker. Baily (from Kolga) sealed the win with an empty-net goal, with the score 6-4 at the final buzzer.
The Red Devils returned home to Marmora on Sunday to face the Markham Waxers in their second regular-season meeting, with Emerson Courtney taking the crease for Quinte. The Devils struck first when Unger found the back of the net off a feed from White, sending the teams into the first intermission tied 1-1. The second period saw the back-and-forth action continue. Quinte scored twice more (Cooke, Unger) (assisted by May), but the Waxers countered with force, surging ahead to take a 5-3 lead heading into the final frame. White brought the team within two, scoring from May/Unger, but the Waxers held on for a 6-4 victory.
On Deck: The U11 Red Devils are back to the grind this week, preparing for next weekend as they head to the Hamilton Steel Classic Tournament.
