The U11 Quinte Red Devils delivered a strong home performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Ajax-Pickering Raiders 5-2 in a spirited midday match-up at the Marmora arena, seeing their regular season record improve to 12-3-1.
Goaltender Aiden Ferreira stood tall, providing a steady backbone for the home team throughout the contest. Offensively, the Red Devils came out firing in the first period. Bentley May picked up the opening goal for the U11s, assisted by Daniel Lalonde. The offensive pressure continued as Pearce McCormick found the back of the net, with helpers going to Austin Baily and Corbin Cooney. The Raiders managed to strike back in the second period, cutting the lead. However, the Red Devils quickly responded, maintaining the two-goal advantage with a goal by Austin Baily to see the score 3-1 heading into the final frame. In the third, Bentley May netted his second of the game with a short-handed goal. Later in the period, Mason Cooke added an insurance marker, assisted by Jaxson Withers and Walker Elrick. Although the Raiders found the back of the net once more, at the final horn it was a decisive 5-2 victory for the Quinte Red Devils.
