The U11 Red Devils kicked off play-off action this weekend facing off against the Peterborough Jr. Petes on Saturday and the Markham Waxers on Sunday, splitting the weekend with a win and loss.
On Saturday against the Petes, the Devils set the tone on the first shift, with Jaxson Withers scoring off feeds from Elrick and Cooke. Austin Baily doubled the lead before the end of the period, assisted by Bentley May. Quinte’s relentless pace continued as Mason Cooke (assisted by Charbonneau and Elrick) notched the lone goal of the second, and Nash White added a fourth in the final frame. Netminder Aiden Ferreira stood tall for the Devils, holding the Petes scoreless until a lone goal in the final minute ended the game 4-1.
On Sunday, the U11s met the Markham Waxers for their first match-up of the play-offs. The Devils took an immediate lead on the opening shift when Nash White found the back of the net, assisted by Blake Unger and Corbin Cooney. Quinte held the narrow lead until the second period when Markham found the equalizer. The Waxers eventually pulled ahead on a third-period power play. Netminder Emerson Courtney kept Quinte within one goal for most of the frame, but a late empty-netter sealed the victory for Markham.
