The Breakaway Fuels U12 Red Devils started their weekend on Friday night with a game against the Kingston Junior Gaels at the Invista Centre.
This was a penalty filled tight checking game. The Red Devils broke the zeros on the board with just under two minutes to go in the second when Kolton Solmes finished off a nice PP passing play from Ethan Dowling and Charlie Dwyer. That would be all the scoring for the game. Jordan Andrews stopped all 14 shots against and the Devils left town with a 1-0 victory.
Sunday the boys were back on the ice for an afternoon game at 4pm against the York Simcoe Express in Campbellford. Unfortunately the kids forgot what time the game started and found themselves in a 4-0 hole 2 minutes into the second. After a late second period goal by Jackson Simpson made it 4-1. Simpson and Dowling would each score power play goals early in the third to make it 4-3. Assists on the goals went to Kai Mackie(3), and Evan VanEgmond. That was as close as they would get and after a couple of sloppy turnovers the game would end 6-3. Deacon Vos did all he could to keep his team in it and made several key saves in the loss.
Next Weekend the Breakaway Boys head to Toronto for the Junior Canadiens Cup.
